Based on a pre-prepared plan for the Holy month of Ramadan which fell in June and July of this year (2016), the Brazani Charity Foundation delivered various types of assistance to families and individuals in the Kurdistan Region in general and especially, to the large IDP and refugee communities in the Region. The main working sectors of the BCF are: food assistance (dry food and hot meals), non-food items (e.g: tents, cooling devices, blankets, clothes, hygiene essentials), financial assistance (mostly through the Orphan Care Project), Education and vocational training, and disabled and special-needs care. The BCF had a very busy schedule during the month of Ramadan this year from which large numbers of IDPs, refuges and low-income or needy families from the local communities benefited. While the BCF made grate efforts to make this happen, this would have not been possible without the generous contributions from local charitable people, partner humanitarian NGOs and donor countries. Thus, the BCF finds an opportunity in this report to show its deepest appreciation and gratitude to all the parties who were involved. The following figures may show the magnitude of BCF’s humanitarian impact in the previous month of Ramadan: in total 224,057 families benefited from our assistance during Ramadan. The total number of beneficiaries reached a staggering 1,588,610 persons. The total cost of the assistance delivered in a single month reached 6,426,480USD and 2,125,458,500IQD or nearly 8,000,000USD.

8- The BCF aims to provide material assistance to its beneficiaries rather than providing cash in hand (except in the case of Orphan Care project). Where there is cash provision, it is very limited and happens in particular circumstances. In this regard, during the month of Ramadan, the BCF distributed 12,500USD to people with low-income or needy families in various locations in the Kurdistan Region.

Partners and sponsors of the BCF Obviously, in order to implement its many projects, the BCF requires sponsors or donors to pay for the assistance or aid provision. For this, the BCF is in a constant contact and communication with existing and potential partners among NGOs and other humanitarian institutions, charitable people and donor countries in order to raise funds. Fortunately, the quality of our work and transparency in the implementation of our many projects has and still attracts charitable people and enterprises to coordinate and cooperate with the BCF in order to deliver their allocated assistance to the right people in-need. In addition, the BCF’s highly-reputable profile, its proven skills and experience in the field of humanitarian assistance in the region and its professional and independent working manner encourage other humanitarian organizations –both national and international—and donor countries to cooperate and coordinate joint humanitarian projects in the Kurdistan Region. Finally, it is timely to thank our partner organizations, charitable people, and donor countries for their continuous support to the Barzani Charity Foundation. They are significant factors behind the outstanding success of our foundation. However, these achievements would have not been possible without the hard work of BCF’s staff and volunteers especially during the long days of the Holy month of Ramadan and under the harsh weather conditions of June and July.
