Chronology of Events 1953
Nursing program between Barry and St. Francis Hospital, Miami Beach approved by the administrative broad. Sister Helen Margaret McGinley, OP is Director of Nursing
1957 First class of 19 students graduate. 1957 Sister Loretta Michael Turner, OP assumes position as Director of Nursing. 1962 Initial accreditation by the National League for Nursing. 1969 Judith Balcerski assumes position as Chair of Nursing.

1974 Department of Nursing becomes School of Nursing, Chair title is changed to Dean. 1978 RN to BSN Option is initiated and 9 students are admitted. 1984 First 54 students admitted to graduate program with majors in nursing administration and nursing education under Dr. Lucile Mercadine. 1986 First two students graduate from the MSN program. 1987 Dr. Victor Schoolcraft begins as Director of Alternative Options. 1989 Two-Year Transfer Option is initiated. 1989 LPN to BSN Option initiated. 1990 Center for Nursing Science initiated. 1992 Initial accreditation of master’s program. 1993 Dr. Patricia Munhall begins as Associate Dean of the Graduate Program. 1993 Primary Nursing Center initiated.
