Volunteers Week Painting In The Park - Barnsley Carers Service
Barnsley Carers Service provides a free to access service to support unpaid carers in the borough. Their staff and volunteers are based in community venues right across Barnsley. They help with information and advice, one-to-one support, help to get into employment, events and activities, befriending and assistance with accessing grant funding.
KEEW SREETNULOV
One of their long-standing dedicated volunteers has set up her own group/session at Locke Park to teach others how to paint with watercolours. Michelle Rathbone, the volunteer who leads the group, is really talented with watercolour and is enjoying teaching others a new skill. Their unpaid carers have really enjoyed the sessions so far and have given feedback that it has given their minds a different focus while they are there, besides learning a new skill. The group is open to any unpaid carers and all materials such as paints, brushes and canvases are all provided. The group runs on the second Wednesday of the month, 11am-13:00pm, at Locke Park (in the café if the weather is poor). Michelle would love to see new carers joining in! It sounds a great session!
