Once again, our family would like to extend a warm welcome to our Buckskin Bull sale with the same progressive herd improving bulls as we’ve made over the last 17 years! We ofer a great opportunity to fnd the bulls you need at afordable prices & sincerely appreciate the business over that time. We recognize the draw of other bull sales, so the confdence & loyalty that our customers have shown us, is genuinely valued when placing your trust in our genetics. Thank You.

As in previous years and in testament to their geographical do-ability, our bulls are raised here at home on the eastern grasslands of Vancouver Island and then winter developed at the Semlin Valley Ranch in Cache Creek BC. A huge thank you goes out to both Pam, Jordan, & their staf at the ranch for their help & efort developing our bulls for a sale ‘just up the road’

We take pride in our sire groups and uniformity of our bull pen, with the goal to sell only working bulls of the utmost quality. We are as proud of the last bull in the ring as the frst, and this ensures everyone has an opportunity to own superior bulls at reasonable prices. Despite one of the most trying years facing widespread drought & abysmal grazing, we are gratifed for this ofering where our herd genetics have rose up to make this sale.

As always, our focus is the commercial cow/calf producer, whether it’s herd improvement or terminal for the bottom line, our goal remains the same… to produce easy feshing, muscular cattle, that carry outstanding maternal traits on arguably some of the strongest feet around. We believe that good walking cattle breed better & add more weight which is what our ofspring have become known for. The bull sale decisions begin on the 1st day, if we have to help with the calving, they do not make the sale. Equally important is the vigour the calf displays upon their birth under maternal cows doing their jobs…we want the calf up and milking quickly, where the bulls & heifers are made to do the work for you, not you workin’ for them.

We use walking herd sires ourselves, only using AI on proven bulls. Doing this ensures that we are an ofering bulls that are dependable with “real world” functionality & B. we can back up the docility, fertility & genetic features. We’ve saved the foot comments this year as every entry has the strong feet of a breeder bull. They live on their feet and if they aren’t good enough after winter feeding, they go to town. This year we are again featuring 4 sire groups of Emphatic 37H, Apex 82G, & 2 new sires Home Run 117J, & Estranged 83G.

Our family would like to extend a big welcome to our good friends Kyle & Jess Price of Charcoal Creek Cattle, Falkland, BC, who have brought two bulls developed at home, from their onwardly progressing herd, through the infuence of our 2022 High Selling bull Red Pacifc Savage 105J. Calving Ease

Calving Ease is often related to the birth weight of a bull, and while this is partly true, there are other factors that infuence CE. The dam and her management are at least 50%-60% of calving ease. The consistency and consideration of the following will also infuence birth weight.

• BW’s of the sire and dam

• BW EPD

• CE & Maternal CE EPD

• Sires calving inclinations

• Sires physical confrmation

• Nutrition, gestation, environment & latitude

• Breed composition

• Hybrid vigour

We rate each bull in the sale based on our recorded information & personal knowledge. Each year, one of the more frequent question is which bulls will work best on their heifers. Of course, only that person inherently knows their own heifers enough to make that call. We try our best to evaluate each bull in our sale to assist you in your choices, using our guidelines of:

Sale Day Info

All the bulls will be available for early viewing (please call Craig) at the Semlin Valley Ranch in Cache Creek, BC until the 20th of March, and then at the Clinton Rodeo Grounds just south of Clinton, BC as of the 21st of March until the sale.

Actual sale day weights, scrotal measurements & sale order will be posted on both the facebook pages of Heart of the Valley Farms & Limestone Charolais. They will also be available by email or text at request on Friday evening the 22nd of March. Hard copies available the morning of the sale.

We had a tall list of wants when we were bull shopping: performance, calving ease, strong pedigree, strong feet… basically everything could want in one bull! Attention cattlemen, here’s an absolute powerhouse of a bull calf. If you are looking for a bull to put better beef on the hook, this is it. His dam is top 4% in rib eye area and 7% for fat! You can really admire the hip, round rump and overall thickness of this March born calf. It is our pleasure to welcome you to the annual Buckskin Bull Sale. First we would like to thank everyone who has supported us in the past and to all of you taking the time to review our bulls for this year’s sale. Your support and interest is what keeps us striving to improve our breeding program each year. Our cows here at Limestone Charolais come from a very reputable herd so have the solid foundation to build bulls that are hardy, have good feet, are fertile and sound.

What a year it has been with the increase in calf and bred cow sales. Watching the trend of those Char-cross calves, tan and silver, once again topping the market last fall as they have for a number of years is certainly the direction we want to see continue. Crossbreeding for these top quality calves is an easy way to gain pounds and proft.

Bidding: Each bull will be sold to the highest bidder. Bidding disputes: The auctioneer will settle any disputes as to bids, and his decision on those matters will be fnal.

Terms: The terms of the sale are cash or cheque and the right of property shall not pass until after settlement is made. All settlements will be made with Heart of the Valley Farms/Limestone Charolais/Charcoal Creek immediately followig the sale and before cattle will be released from the sale facility. Each bull becomes the risk of purchaser as soon as the hammer drops.

Guarantee: We guarantee to sell you a bull that is structurally sound for breeding and has passed a semen test completed by a licensed veterinarian... for further details, see our Breeders Guarantee.

Insurance: Any bull that is not taken on sale day must be insured by the purchaser. We highly recommend insuring any purchased bull regardless.

Liability: All persons attending the sale, do so at their own risk. Neither the owners, clerks, facility owners or anyone connected with the sale assumes any responsibility, legal or otherwise for damage, injury or loss of any kind.

Announcements: If any changes of information that are contained in this catalogue need to be corrected, announcements will be made and take precedence over any printed material.

Semen: Heart of the Valley Farms/Limestone Charolais/Charcoal Creek reserves the right to collect semen on any of their respective bulls sold through this sale for in-herd use only, unless otherwise stated. This semen will be collected at the buyers convenience and the sellers expense.

Certifcate of Registry: Upon request, a Registration Certifcate and transfer for each registered bull will be sent to the buyer after full payment has been recieved & Association transfer completed.

Buyer Registration: Please reguster for a buyer number with us prior to bidding and purchasing. Online buyers will need to register with DLMS.

Cattle Inspection: All bulls carry permanent ID tags that correspond to sale lot numbers. All will be available for inspection prior to the sale.

Breeders Guarantee

Heart of the Valley/Limestone Charolais/Charcoal Creek guarantee to sell you a bull that is structurally sound, and has passed a semen test completed by a licensed veterinarian.

Should any of the bulls fail to be a satisfactory breeder and unable to service a female, an andjustment will be made to refect the value of the bull in question - or a credit will be given towards the purchase of another bull from Heart of the Valley/Limestone Charolais/Charcoal Creek at out discretion. Things do go wrong sometimes and we will be there to backup our sale guarantee. You can rest assured that we will provide you with a sound breeding bull and we will be there to assist you should a problem arise.

We will, however, not provide replacement, adjustment or credit for any physical injury, sickness, mismanagement, damaged testicles, or deterioration of semen quality after a successful test.

WE HIGHLY STRESS THE IMPORTANCE OF THIRD PARTY INSURANCE (CFI Insurance Group - Jill Wildman) available for purchase sale day.

If you should have any problems with a bull you must IMMEDIATELY contact Heart of the Valley/Limestone Charolais/ Charcoal Creek at rdangus@telus.net / 250-897-0619 for Angus or 250-706-7987 for Charolais. We will require that your veterinarian complete a report and have that report scanned and emailed to us. If the bull dies, a post mortem report will be required, with photo and tattoo identifcation. Heart of the Valley/Limestone Charolais/Charcoal Creek retains the right to request another veterinarian complete a second report at their discretion and cost.
