Commissioned by Lambeth Council, has been designed by award-winning Carl Turner Architects in partnership with The Collective It is temporarily using the site in Brixton until at least October 2017, at which point the Council intends to redevelop it as part of the Brixton Central Masterplan. Provides over 50 units across multiple levels, specifically designed for small businesses Includes ten affordable units, including retail, office and workspace, with rents 20-50% less than commercial levels on the site. Any profit from the project will be split 50/50 between the Lambeth Council and Pop Brixton Ltd. Lambeth Council kick-started the project. They have provided the land for the project; until at least October 2017, free of charge. This is subject to the project delivering local benefits to the community.

//CReATES would hope to emulate the successes of Pop Brixton in their ability to engage with the local community, businesses and stakeholders. From conception the site design was determined by the needs of the local community, and in operating the project Pop Brixton looks to maximise social wellbeing wherever possible.

2 // RE:START MALL, CHRISTCHURCH NZ

• • •

Built in the aftermath of Christchurch’s devastating earthquake in 2011 and on a site that otherwise would have remained Brownfield for a number of years. Designed to introduce new business and consumers back to the CBD. Has become a cornerstone of tourism in Christchurch – Skyrocketing to #6 “Must Visit Places in the World, Lonely Planet”. Allowed for business to return more quickly and easily than long term developments, increasing employment and business in the area.

//CReATES would incorporate many of the architectural features of Re:Start. In particular the brightly painted containers and use of structural glass makes for a modern and inviting complex. This is supported with good examples of hard and soft landscaping.

3 // BOXPARK, LONDON UK

• • • • • •

61 container complex in Shoreditch providing residence to mostly fashion retail and food across two levels (4.7 hectare site). So successful in Shoreditch they’re now opening one in Croydon Selection of single, double and triple 40’ containers High quality fit-out Awaiting long term development between Hammersmith and the Ballymore Group Consistently well received and reviewed by tourists

//Boxpark has been incredibly successful in its marketing campaign. It is becoming one of the most sought-after retail spaces in the area and consistently ranks highly on tourism and retail review websites. CReATES will hope to emulate this success through an effective marketing campaign and by acting as a resource for tourism.
