HANDS-ON IS THE APPROACH, WITH A TAILOR MADE DAY-BY-DAY CURRICULUM THAT HAS BEEN FINE TUNED TO ACHIEVE QUALITY BARBERS AT THE END OF THEIR COURSE.

THE COURSES ARE DESIGNED TO BE INTENSE, SO IT IS IMPORTANT THAT YOUR ATTENDANCE AND PUNCTUALITY IS ON POINT OTHERWISE IT CAN HAVE AN ADVERSE AFFECT ON YOUR DEVELOPMENT AND GRADING WITH BSW.

GENERAL RULES

ALONGSIDE OUR POLICIES, WE HAVE SOME GENERAL RULES THAT ARE VERY IMPORTANT TO FOLLOW. THIS WILL BE MONITORED AT ALL TIMES.

1) IF YOU CANNOT ATTEND A SESSION, WE EXPECT YOU TO GIVE US AT LEAST 12 HOURS NOTICE. CANCELLING YOUR APPOINTMENTS AT THE LAST MINUTE HAS A DETRIMENTAL AFFECT ON THE GREAT REPUTATION WE HAVE AMONGST OUR CLIENTS. THIS IN TURN, IMPACTS YOUR LEARNING EXPERIENCE AS THE AMOUNT OF CLIENTS YOU HAVE WILL DECREASE.

2) IF YOU ARE GOING TO BE LATE TO A SESSION, WE EXPECT YOU TO GIVE US AT LEAST 1 HOURS NOTICE.

3) WE WILL NOT ACCEPT A REQUEST TO CHANGE SCHEDULED TRAINING HOURS - IF YOU HAVE SIGNED UP TO A ‘MORNING’ SESSION - WE EXPECT YOU TO COMMIT TO MORNING HOURS FOR THE DURATION OF THE COURSE. YOU WILL BE UNABLE TO ‘CUT DOWN DAYS’ OR DO ‘ADDITIONAL DAYS’ - WE HAVE A LIMITED AMOUNT OF SPOTS ON OUR COURSES, A VERY STRICT SCHEDULE AND CLASSES RUNNING CONSECUTIVELY.

4) COURSEWORK ASSIGNMENTS MUST BE SUBMITTED ON OR BEFORE THE SUBMISSION DATELATE COURSEWORK WILL BECOME VOID.

5) IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO ENSURE ALL OF YOUR EQUIPMENT IS FULLY CHARGED AND IN WORKING ORDER BEFORE THE DAY STARTS. IN NO EVENT WILL YOU BE ABLE TO BORROW EDUCATOR’S EQUIPMENT.

6) NO EXTENSIONS - A LACK OF ATTENDANCE DOES NOT WARRANT ANY ADDITIONAL WEEKS TRAINING. AS STATED IN YOUR STUDENT AGREEMENT, YOUR ATTENDANCE IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY. WE CAN ACCOMODATE YOUR ASSESSMENTS AT A LATER DATE, BUT NO ADDITIONAL TRAINING HOURS WILL BE PROVIDED.

1) PUSH YOURSELF AND PUSH OTHERS - WE WILL PUSH YOU TO BE OUTSIDE OF YOUR COMFORT ZONE. EMBRACE THE CHALLENGES. THE HAIRCUTS YOU ARE AFRAID OF ARE THE ONES YOU NEED TO DO MOST OF.

3) EARLY IS ON TIME, ON TIME IS LATE AND LATE IS UNACCEPTABLE - BUT NOT TOO EARLY!

4) COME PREPARED OR DON’T COME AT ALL

5) AT TIMES - IT WON’T BE PRETTY. PREPARE TO GO THROUGH THE EMOTIONAL TRENCHES. BUT ALSO EMBRACE THE HIGHS. THIS 12 WEEKS WILL BE A ROLLERCOASTER.

6) GO THE EXTRA MILE - YOUR LEARNING CAN’T STOP ONCE YOU LEAVE THE ACADEMY. THROW YOURSELF INTO AS MUCH LEARNING AS POSSIBLE IN YOUR FREE TIME - YOUTUBE, EXPERIENCE IN A SHOP ETC.

7) DANGERS - COMPLACENCY, COMPARISON, NEGATIVE SELF TALK

8) ASK QUESTIONS - DON’T BE AFRAID OF TAPPING INTO THE KNOWLEDGE OF THE PEOPLE AROUND YOU. YOU HAVE BARBERS IN CAPELLO WORKING IN THE SAME PLACE AS YOU EVERYDAYTALK TO THEM!

9) LEAVE THE BAD ENERGY AT THE DOOR - COME WITH ENTHUSIASM, EXCITEMENT AND THE WILL TO OVERCOME CHALLENGES EVERYDAY.

CLIENT POLICY - FOR STUDENTS

WE PROVIDE AN ABUNDANCE OF CLIENTS FOR YOU TO PRACTICE ON.

OUR RECORD FOR THE MOST CLIENTS ONE OF OUR COURSES IS 200. THE AMOUNT OF CLIENTS YOU COMPLETE MAY VARY FROM DAY TO DAY TO DIFFERENT CIRCUMSTANCES.

SOMETIMES CLIENTS DO NOT SHOW UP FOR SERVICES, OR DUE TO EXTERNAL CIRCUMSTANCE, THERE MAY BE GAPS IN THE CLIENTS.

THIS IS INEVITABLE IN THE BARBERING INDUSTRY.

IN INSTANCES WHEN THERE IS NO CLIENT, YOUR EDUCATOR WILL PROVIDE YOU GUIDANCE.

CLIENT POLICY - FOR CLIENTS

WE HAVE A STRICT NON-DISCRIMINATION POLICY THAT ENSURES NO INDIVIDUAL IS TREATED DIFFERENTLY BASED ON GENDER, RACE, OR ANY OTHER CHARACTERISTIC. IT IS IMPERATIVE THAT ALL CUSTOMERS ARE AWARE OF THIS COMMITMENT TO EQUALITY.

A FEE OF £5 WILL BE CHARGED FOR CANCELLATIONS MADE WITHIN 24 HOURS OF THE SCHEDULED APPOINTMENT.

FOR NO-SHOWS, A FEE OF £10.00 WILL BE INCURRED.

EVERY WEDNESDAY, WE WILL TEACH YOU A NEW ‘ADVANCED’ SKILL THAT IS NOT IN YOUR INITIAL DOLL HEAD TRAINING OR GO OVER AN EXISTING SKILL. WE DO THIS IN A STRUCTURED AND FILTERED WAY TO ENSURE YOU DON’T GET TOO CONFUSED. THESE WILL BE AND ARE NOT LIMITED TO: WET SHAVING SCISSOR WORK ADVANCED HAIRCUTS

END OF COURSE COMPETITION

THERE WILL BE A FADE COMPETITION ON YOUR FINAL WEEK 12*. YOU WILL HAVE TO PROVIDE YOUR OWN MODEL. THE COMPETITION WILL LAST ABOUT 90 MINUTES AND WILL ALLOW YOU TO SHOWCASE THE SKILLS THAT YOU HAVE LEARNT. NOT ATTENDING OR PARTICIPATING IN THE COMPETITION WILL AFFECT YOUR FINAL GRADE

YOUR TOOLS NEED TO BE SANITISED BETWEEN EACH CLIENT. JARS OF A BLUE DISINFECTANT SOLUTION ARE AROUND THE ACADEMY FOR YOUR NON-ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT. YOU WILL ALSO NEED A CLIPPER DISINFECTANT SPRAY WHICH CAN BE USED TO SANITISE YOUR CLIPPERS AND TRIMMERS.

PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU PURCHASE CLIPPER SPRAY BEFORE WORKING ON CLIENTS (WEEK 3).

CLEANING YOUR CUTTING STATION

ONCE YOU HAVE FINISHED THE SERVICE OF A CLIENT YOU MUST SPRAY THE CHAIR WITH DISINFECTANT SPRAY, AND WIPE DOWN BEFORE THE NEXT CLIENT IS SEATED.

AT THE END OF YOUR CLASS

AT THE END OF THE CLASS YOUR WHOLE SECTION TOP AND CHAIR NEEDS TO BE SPRAYED DOWN WITH DISINFECTING SPRAY AND WHIPPED WITH A MICROFIBRE CLOTH PROVIDED. MIRRORS AND CHROME CHAIR BASES NEED TO BE SPRAYED WITH THE WINDOW SPRAY AND CLEANED WITH NEWSPAPER UNTIL STREAK FREE, AND READY FOR THE NEXT DAY.
