Nigel Hammond from the ambulance service attended the April meeting to explain the benefits of Public Access Defibrillators (PADs) and Community First Responders. It is hoped to make this provision for Westfield. Councillors agreed that the value in terms of saved lives, and increased beneficial outcomes, resulting from the minutes saved in getting treatment started for people in cardiac arrest, was something they would like to support. It was decided to earmark a grant of £1400 to pay set up costs for a volunteer's training and equipment. Rother Responders was asked to call on this grant as soon as a suitable volunteer is found for Westfield. ESCC have agreed to install a bus shelter opposite the village store. Residents' concerns regarding potholes and footpath issues were reported to the responsible departments at East Sussex County Council.
