WHAT IS THIS COURSE ABOUT? The desire to understand the behaviour of animals has lead to the development of a separate branch of zoology, called ethology. You will gain a grounding in zoology with a consideration of the mechanisms, functions, development and evolution of animal behaviour. The degree specifically looks at the mechanisms, functions, development and evolution of behaviour. We are continuously incorporating student feedback and novel developments into our degrees, which can result in changes to the module content in all years. HOW WILL I LEARN? You will have a range of lectures and practicals each week, supplemented with field courses, and tutorials in years 1 and 2. The final year includes a dissertation project, which is supervised by a member of staff on a subject to suit your interests. Assessment is by a mixture of formal examination and continuous assessment. Welsh-medium modules are also available. CAREER PROSPECTS Zoologists have gained employment in wildlife management, environmental consultancy, and local and national media, whilst some have undertaken a range of postgraduate programmes.
