B&H Engineers is a growing engineering practice specializing in the design and consultation of efficient, innovative, and quality Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, and Technology systems. Our reputation is built on advanced technical abilities and superior performance leveraged by a team of gifted employees that work in a collaborative and encouraging environment. B&H Engineers was established 18 years ago with the knowledge that engineering has a profound ability to shape our surrounding environment and the way we live. Motivated to develop smarter solutions for the future, partners James Barron and Todd Abernathy founded B&H to provide high-quality engineering services to the DFW area while addressing a shortage of minority-owned businesses. Since then, B&H has performed services over a multitude of markets and cities nationwide, growing into one of the most respected MEP firms in the industry. B&H Engineers, Inc. is a Native American owned, certified SBE/MBE/HUB Engineering practice.
B&H’s design and consulting expertise covers a variety of market sectors, including municipal and federal, industrial, education, healthcare, hospitality and commercial office. Our past performance includes both new construction and extensive renovation and adaptive re-use projects. Within the following key disciplines, B&H can perform a wide variety of services regardless of project or delivery type.

Josh’s proven track record emphasizes performance and growth, and he looks forward to serving up a healthy portion of both for his company and his clients.
Joshua Roehm PE, LEED AP, PMP, CPMPCuriosity led Laura to Electrical Engineering, where she enjoys finding answers to complex problems. “There’s never just one right answer, even when you follow the standards, one solution doesn’t mean it applies to the next design.” Nothing illustrates this more than her work. She has helped design and layout a children’s hospital bed tower to a 72-room psychiatric hospital to 1 million SF campuses. This diversity drives Laura to do her due diligence and create responsive designs which have been recognized and appreciated by her clients for her problem-solving and efficiency.
B&H’s design and consulting expertise covers a variety of market sectors, including municipal and federal, industrial, education, healthcare, hospitality, and commercial office space. B&H understands that true sustainability encompasses more than the increased energy performance of buildings and their carbon footprint. Creating a truly sustainable and forward-thinking environment means developing a space that is accessible and safe for all types of facilities. MEP and technology design plays a significant role in the long-term viability and success of those facilities and demands involvement early in the design process from the MEP engineers to ensure attention is given to the key decisions at the appropriate time. These decisions have significant downstream effects in first cost, life cycle cost, sustainability, and occupant safety, health, and comfort.
B&H approaches all projects undertaken as unique to our clients and the surroundings. Drawing upon our in-house sustainable design team to surpass routine building performance levels, we deliver proactive solutions for tomorrow. We understand this multi-disciplined effort. We know each system can be time-consuming and requires insight and knowledge over the project life cycle. Analysis by the MEP team is necessary to ensure that the building envelope is consistent with higher-performance buildings as defined by the building codes. Our teams are comprised of USGBC LEED accredited professionals and are experts in their specialized fields, yielding the most value for long-term investments and achieving practical solutions.
B&H is committed to sustainable design while simultaneously maximizing:
• Safety, comfort, productivity, and accessibility for building occupants
• Efficient use of energy, water, and effluent to minimize detrimental environmental impacts
• Economic performance with low life-cycle operation and maintenance cost
