Nevena comes from a family of engineers. Although initially, she dreamed of being a writer/journalist, her path went in a different direction. She found as she studied thermodynamics, she had a passion for it and that designing mechanical systems is artistic and creative. She has been told her designs are elegant, and she prides herself on bringing that elegance into her solutions. Her artistic eye designs not just for functionality but also focuses on aesthetics and durability finding creative ways to offer cost-effective and innovative solutions.

OUR EXPERIENCE Prairie View A&M University, Farrell Dining Hall 9,100 SF This project renovated 9,100 SF in Farrell Dining Hall to establish a full-service dining facility. The existing dining, kitchen, and lobby spaces were demolished to create a build-out for a full-service kitchen and dining with grab-n-go deli and laundry facilities. B&H was responsible for the mechanical, electrical, and plumbing for this project which included an expanded security and connectivity access, improved life/safety with new fire suppression system and fire alarm system, expansion of restrooms with new plumbing fixtures, millwork, and toilet accessories. We replaced the emergency generator by installing a new 30 kW, 277/480V 3 Phase natural gas generator with exterior weatherproof enclosures with a critical muffler to support the new facility needs.

Prairie View A&M University, Coleman Library 1,200 SF B&H was responsible for the 1,200 SF renovation for the 3rd floor of Texas A&M’s Coleman library. We worked with the university to provide MEP services that included new HVAC equipment, humidity control measures, low-voltage electrical, and new interior lighting to both the reading room and lobby in the existing library. The interior lighting components included updating the lighting fixtures, lamps and ballasts, emergency and exit signs, along with retro-fitting kits for the fluorescent lighting fixtures.

Prairie View A&M University, Austin Greaux Chemical Laboratory 20,000 SF The University wanted to improve the quality and quantity of research space and the overall learning environment for this facility. The existing classrooms were designed and retrofitted for research space focusing on chemical, biological, and electronics exclusively. B&H provided an assessment of the building’s MEP systems during the Program of Requirements (POR) phase, determining the systems were past their expected service life as they were installed during original construction. We provided Mechanical, Electrical, Fire Protection, and Construction Administration services for the project, which included a complete renovation of the 20,000 SF chemical laboratory. MEP scope included new HVAC units, ductwork exhaust/ventilation systems, new plumbing systems, electrical service, lighting, and lighting controls. Life Safety systems included a new fire alarm system and modifications to the fire suppression system to bring them up to code. Lab standards now comply with PVAMU master plan standards and A&M System Facility Design Guidelines.
