We envision Baltimore reconnected to its rich history of metalsmithing and jewelry. New generations of art jewelers will preserve and evolve the field through practice and education.

The Baltimore Jewelry Center is a 501c3 nonprofit building a vibrant creative community for the study and practice of metalworking for new and established artists. We offer classes, workshops, and studio space rental to anyone with an interest in contemporary jewelry and metalsmithing.

We provide affordable educational opportunities by subsidizing class, workshop, and rental costs. Since opening our doors in June 2014, we have served over 7,000 students through workshops, classes, and studio space rental.

Additionally, we have reached over 6,000 people through our exhibitions and demonstrations. Through our exhibition program, we introduce the larger public to a wide variety of metal arts as well as promote and sell the work of local and national artists.

Our 3,500 sq. ft. studio is located in the heart of the Station North Arts and Entertainment District. Our space features a gallery and retail space, as well as a metals studio complete with private and community work areas. Here, students can explore traditional and contemporary metalsmithing techniques with educators and artists working in the field.

The BJC relies on contributed revenue and fundraising to support our programs, enabling us to offer classes and workshops at below-market rates while paying competitive wages to our instructors.

This funding also allows us to provide free workshops in our neighborhood, run a workforce development program for teens, offer scholarships for students, host an artist residency program, and present prestigious exhibitions.

Ornamenta draws an audience passionate about jewelry, art, and patronizing Baltimorebased businesses. It is a night of celebration with dining, dancing, a silent auction, and much more.

We’re thrilled for Ornamenta 2025, a multifaceted fundraising event on Saturday, February 8th. The evening will feature a silent auction, raffle, and an opportunity to fund-a-need specific to the BJC studio.
