LIVE WELL. LIVE BALFOUR CENTRAL PARK.
It began with a simple question: What would Madeline want? Choosing the right place for a loved one is a deeply personal and difficult decision. When I had to think about a place for my mother Madeline, the answer was simple: a place where she could be comfortable and cared for, but continue to enjoy the finer things in life. In my case, mother was a fashionable, well-traveled and fun-loving New Yorker who always wanted a “Four Seasons” experience. Because she wanted to move closer to family after my father passed away, I had the same challenge so many others have when looking for the right place for a parent. It inspired me to utilize my knowledge of the health care system (I had been the CEO of National Jewish Hospital in Denver for ten years) to build a community where seniors could thrive. I think back at what my mother Madeline wanted and needed when we brought her out from New York. She loved books, live theater, art and auditing classes at NYU. Hence, our emphasis on great food, extensive and varied educational programs, onsite and offcampus activities, a robust transportation program and a home-like environment filled with rich textures and colorful interiors that is respectful of the local architecture and history of the community in which we build. Because often there are no clear lines separating independent living, assisted living, memory care or even skilled nursing, a cornerstone of The Balfour Way is offering a continuum of care. This allows our residents to age in place and maintain relationships with friends and staff through different levels of care without leaving their community. As important as a beautiful living environment may be, I learned the most important attribute of a successful community is an engaged, energized, and well-trained team. Unlike many traditional CCRC’s (continuing care retirement communities) that require a large entrance fee, Balfour is entirely a rental community. This allows our residents to preserve their assets, paying only for the services and levels of additional care if and when they actually need them, and to leave a Balfour community if/when circumstances change without waiting for their funds to be returned. We know that we must earn the trust of our residents every single day. The décor, teamwork and spirit of the Balfour communities reveal what happens when you build a place for your own mother. When I ask myself, “What would Madeline want?” I know she would have been right at home at Balfour. We look forward to speaking with you and encourage you to visit us to see first-hand to see why Balfour is truly “A New Generation in Retirement Living®”.
Sincerely,
Michael K. Schonbrun Founder

ASSISTED LIVING
Balfour provides a supportive environment of retirement living which promotes maximum independence and dignity, as well as interaction with friends, family and community. Balfour Senior Living is pleased to offer our residents a medically competent assisted living program. Our care is progressive according to the needs of each individual. Levels of care and specific, individualized services are determined by a clinical assessment prior to move-in. We collaborate with each resident, family member, and Health Care Professional to determine resident’s level of care both pre-admission and on an ongoing basis. A comprehensive review of each care plan takes place every six months. We offer various levels of assistance in our assisted living program and will enhance services according to the needs and/or desires of each resident and their family member(s).

Our Memory Care staff is focused each day on nurturing the spirit of our residents.
MEMORY CARE
It is all about our commitment to the individual – treating each resident with the deference, dignity and attention he or she deserves. Nothing takes a higher priority for our staff than caring and managing the health and well-being of our Memory Care residents. Our staff is trained in validation approaches which encourage caring and effective interaction with residents. Our goal is to nurture the spirit of our residents. Reminiscing and sensory activities draw on our residents’ strengths, allowing them to reflect, engage, and talk about themselves. Our care staff meet residents where they are—in their world and in their time. Balfour’s spirit of activity-filled days, beautiful surroundings, and a Collaborative, family-oriented community is a vision for a new generation of Memory Care caregiving. Equally important is the communication between our care staff and the families of residents.
