Diana Guthrie is that one teacher you will remember years after your graduation. She is that one teacher with an inexhaustible energy and school spirit that raises the bar for everyone around her. She is that teacher who has the dedication to get the job done whether that be to plan the Prom or create banners for our athletic competitions. She is that one teacher who you will find on campus early in the morning, late in evening or even on a school holiday.
Celebrating her 10th Anniversary at Memorial Day School, Mrs. Guthrie began her career here in 2013. During those 10 years, she has seen her 3 sons become Memorial Alumni - Tyler (Class of 2021); Corey (Class of 2022) and Aiden (Class of 2024).
Mrs. Guthrie and her husband Justin also opened their home to Alexander Herwig for two years, an exchange student from Germany who graduated with the Class of 2023.
All of her children will brag about their Mom being a wonderful mother that truly cares about her children just a little more than the school .
husband Justin Arnott, who is a custom furniture maker, has built many things for the school including the bookshelves in the Media Center, the art floors and has also sponsored many events for the
Diana began her service to Memorial as a substitute and then was brought on as the school s librarian and art teacher. This multi-talented lady is a valuable asset to our faculty and is loved by everyone.
As if all she does is not enough, Mrs. Guthrie is also the school s official Zoo Keeper of our many pets. Her family boasts about their 3 dogs, including the school Goldendoodle Mattie the Matador ; a tortoise, and a bearded dragon that passed away this year.
In her free time, Diana enjoys shopping, painting and traveling.
Everyone loves Diana Guthrie and it gives the Yearbook Staff a great deal of pleasure to dedicate the 2023-2024 yearbook to her.

The Banderillos are the bullfighters who use banderillas, which are colorfully decorated and barbed sticks, to stab at the bulls; however, at Memorial Day the Banderillos represent the Red House, which is the House of Compassion. Compassion is the quality of showing sympathy and empathy; it's to express care and concern to others. We strive to represent our House by showing compassion to everyone!

Rejoneador is the House of Wisdom, which means to have the ability to contemplate and apply past knowledge to the current situation. Wisdom is important because it allows us to learn from past mistakes. It lets us overcome problems that we may find difficult. If you don't have wisdom you are bound to make the same mistakes over and over. The title of Rejoneador is given to bullfighters that fight on horseback. It is a type of bullfighting most common in Portugal and Spanish bullfighting.

The word Torero is a blanket term for people who practice the art of bullfighting. However, a Torero only becomes a Matador when he kills a bull. Bullfighting is not for the faint of heart, it takes an immense amount of courage. Torero is the House of Courage, which means the ability to do something that frightens one. Courage is a very important attribute to have because it helps us overcome obstacles that may be considered frightening or overwhelming. If you don t have courage your development as a person will not progress as far or as fast as it could.

Cheerleading is a year-long sport that cheers for both football and basketball. There are four cheer captains and they show their captain spirit very well. This is my first year truly feeling the yearbook completion. Last year was a year for learning and improvement, to see what I've learned and improved on.
I would like to thank you and everyone else who has purchased a yearbook, a lot of effort and time has gone into this yearbook. I would like to give a huge thank you to Mrs. Barnes and Mr. Sussman for helping me lead through our yearbook and trying to make sure that is the best quality for you.
Our main goal was to make something for you to remember your memories and good times that you've had with us at Memorial Day School. Remember the fun events that we ve had, the sports we played, remember your friends and teachers. That s why we titled our yearbook Moments that Matter.
I hope everyone could find themselves somewhere throughout the yearbook, and remember your favourite memories.
Take Care,
Aiden Arnott (Class of 2024)
