MORE THAN 3 MILLION PASSENGERS TRAVELED WITH BALEÀRIA IN 2014, ON ALL OF ITS ROUTES The Baleària group transported 3.2 million passengers throughout 2014. This is 15% more than the previous exercise on all lines operating in the Straits, the Balearic Islands and the Caribbean. Regarding cargo, this increased 6%, thus surpassing the more than four million lineal meters; the transportation of vehicles has also increased 11%, to reach 660,000. In 2015, the strategic lines for the Baleària group will continue to internationalize business as the bases to consolidate its business project, promote innovation for a more efficient fleet, seek excellence of the on-board services offered and social responsibility actions in the territories where it operates.

THE shipping company CONSOLIDATES ITS PLACE IN THE CARIBBEAN MARKET Last February, Baleària incorporated a new ferry between Fort Lauderdale (Florida, USA) and the port of Freeport on Grand Bahama to offer greater passenger and cargo capacity. At the presentation, Baleària president Adolfo Utor expressed his appreciation for the support received from the authorities

and added that “the new vessel will contribute to the progress and development of the area.” By focusing on internationalizing the company, the shipping company will also be able to consolidate its growth. Baleària is studying new connections in the Bahamas, as well as with other Caribbean countries.

BALEÀRIA MANAGES A PUBLIC INTEREST LINE CONNECTING CEUTA AND ALGECIRAS Since the beginning of 2015, and for a two-year period, Baleària will manage a public interest line between the ports of Algeciras and Ceuta, thanks to a contract agreement granted by the national government. Baleària has already successfully managed this

line between 2011 and 2013. For the firm’s president Adolfo Utor, this new contract signifies “the renewal of our commitment with Ceuta, and reinforces our relationship with the city and our customers.”

A VESSEL REDUCES CO2 EMISSIONS BY 12% WITH AN INNOVATION PROJECT Baleària has managed to reduce carbon dioxide emission by 12% on the ship Martín i Soler thanks to an innovation project. The shipping company has applied an anti-fouling paint to the hull and has installed real-time mea-

surement sensors that allow improved trim control. The data analysis shows a 12% savings in fuel (between 750 and 1000 tons less per year). This savings translated into a 12% decrease in CO2 emissions.

New virtual card for Club members Members of Club Baleària may now download the new virtual card on their cell phones from the company’s web site at the member’s area. This virtual card (or print it out at home) allows the user to enjoy a series of current benefits as well as new ones.

Baleària Foundation In January, a score of major organizations and cultural institutions from Catalanspeaking territories meet in Majorca to discuss the figure of Majorcan writer Ramon Llull. The event was hosted by Baleària Foundation to conclude the events honoring the 10th anniversary of its foundation.

Renfe y Baleària: Travel by train and by ship Renfe Viajeros and Baleària have signed a collaboration agreement to jointly market train and ship services to facilitate intermodal transportation. Thus, when combining train and ship travel, users may obtain a 50% discount on the second transport used during the travel route.
