Metalline launches new Aluminium Extruded Plank System

Staithe Smokehouse

We are a traditional artisan fish Smokehouse located on the beautiful North Norfolk coast in the village of Brancaster Staithe.

We oak smoke a range of fish from smoked salmon, haddock, scallops to crevettes, shell on

prawns, rainbow trout, kippers and mackerel. We also smoke our own salt from Maldon and make our own homemade smoked salmon mousse and saffron pickled cockles.

We have a little wooden shop, open to the public 5 days a week, where we also smoke onsite. We attend local markets throughout the year, deliver locally, post out all over the UK and supply wholesale to pubs, cafés and restaurants.

We have recently won a Guild of Fine Food Awards Great Taste 1-Star for our traditional artisan oak smoked salmon.

We like to slowly smoke our quality fish, being patient and careful, using knowledge handed down, by using the feel and look of the fish, to know when it's ready and finished being smoked, where we hand slice if needed, so that you can enjoy what we produce first hand.

We are located at the rear of the White Horse Pub, Main Road, Brancaster Staithe, Norfolk PE31 8BY.

Metalline is delighted to announce it has developed a new aluminium extruded plank system to add to its Unity rainscreen range. Unity X-TRU is a costeffective cladding solution designed with simplicity and versatility in mind, making it the perfect solution for both new builds and the replacement of non-compliant ACM, HPL and timber cladding. The new X-TRU plank is functional with exceptional mechanical properties including strength, durability and fire-resistance and is particularly suited to buildings where dangerous timber cladding is present and needs replacing.

Available in a number of finishes, including wood grain, the X-TRU system is a unique way of transforming the exterior of a building and currently offers designers flat faced interlocking 100mm & 150mm planks. In addition to the wood grain effect finish, the extruded aluminium planks can be supplied in a variety of lengths and a vast array of powder coated or anodised colours to achieve A1 & A2 classifications. The panels offer a desirable fast track install and secret fix, connected by an interlocking male/female joint which can be easily fixed either horizontally or vertically to an adjustable support system. This drained and ventilated system creates a weather shield in front of a primary structure.

To find out more about the benefits of X-TRU planks, email: info@metalline.co.uk or visit: www.metalline.co.uk

There are few interior looks that black furniture doesn't pair perfectly with. As an imposing but also neutral colour, it can work with any look you hope to achieve, adding elegance and timeless appeal. It works wonderfully in tandem with a contrasting hue such as copper, brass or, best of all, gold.

Artico Interiors' range of black and gold furniture encapsulates a classic luxurious look that oozes class and style, paired with practicality and crafted from gorgeous mango wood that's made to last.

Statement style

Their Scorpion collection allows you to choose a single statement piece or opt for a complete look throughout your home, with complementary pieces adding up to an eye-catching whole. As

centrepieces go, they aren't much more impressive than the Scorpion bar cabinet, the ideal marriage of high-quality natural materials and ingenious design. Opening out to provide a real statement piece, the subtle gold frame at the base lends an Art Deco element.

Buying a new mattress can be confusing

In recent years we have seen more and more online-only brands who sell a mattress-in-abox with a 100+ night home trial. This means we don’t need to go into a showroom to purchase, but often we try a handful of mattresses before finding the right one.

At the International Sleep Charity, our mission is to improve global wellbeing through sleep education. Research already shows that getting the right mattress can improve sleep by a significant 40 minutes per night, so we want to help people make the best choice.

We recently conducted The Great Sleep Quality Experiment at Grand Designs Live, featuring 8 of the UK’s best mattresses including Emma, Simba, Harrison Spinks and Tweak. Show visitors took part in the UK’s largest mattress test – a blind test, rating the comfort only, without being influenced by the brand, price or marketing claims. After the show, we revealed which

Offsite Expo exceeds expectations

With record attendance and the exhibition venue filled to capacity, organisers of Offsite Expo have been overwhelmed with positive feedback from delegates, speakers & exhibitors.

Sam Davies, Construction Director for British Offsite, said, “The organisation of Offsite Expo 2021 was very professional and well executed. The event organisers were helpful and accommodating & the pre-planning of the event was exceptional in terms of communication and ensuring a successful delivery.”

Across the two days of the event – which was held at the Coventry Building Society Arena on 21 & 22 September 2021 – 3,054 delegates visited over 100 exhibition stands and feature builds which involved everything from a transporter hauling a module and a new innovative ‘room in the roof’ system to a double height light steel frame exhibition stand and even a two-storey apartment block. It was often standing room only in the three theatres where over 100 speakers delivered CPD Accredited Masterclass sessions.

Many exhibitors also reported that the Offsite Connect forum was a major highlight for them with over 330 productive business meetings taking place. Offsite Connect is a highly effective way for buyers and specifiers to meet with

GLEE REVIEW – TOP EXHIBITORS

Glee: Refueling garden retail

They say absence makes the heart grow fonder and this certainly felt like an accurate sentiment at Glee last week, when the garden retail sector was finally able to reunite after a two-year hiatus.

Millions of new British gardeners have made the past two years, even with all its many challenges, a period of tremendous growth and innovation for the industry and Glee is the most important launch platform, where suppliers can bring new products to market and engage with the retail trade.

Featuring over 300 brands, 125 of which were brand new to the show this year, the long-anticipated return of Glee as an in-person event was positively received from all corners

Formbar

T rolleys and baskets are an absolute must for all retail environments, they are the first item in a store a customer touches therefore they must reflect the brand values of the store.

Trolleys and baskets are also a very practical item; customers can not shop without them, they need to be strong, sturdy and easy to manoeuvre around aisles and shop fittings.

Formbar stocks traditional and modern, innovative trolleys and baskets so garden centres, convenience stores, independent grocers, farm shops and any other retailer can give a true impression of their brand values from the first moment a customer arrives. We have traditional wire trolleys that your customers will be familiar

of the retail sector: from traditional garden centres, DIY Stores and farm shops to high street retailers, department stores, builders' merchants and thriving e-commerce sites.

As the first occasion since 2019, when so many gardening brands and retailers could meet face to face under one roof, it wasn't surprising that Glee opened its doors on

20cm and 24cm frying pans, a 16cm milk pan, and 18cm and 20cm saucepans with tempered glass lids and has been designed to complement a cream AGA.

The Cermalon® 5 Piece Blue Pan Set is designed to mirror the current kitchen trend for stylish blue colours. The set consists of 20cm and 24cm frying pans, together with a 16cm milk pan, and 18cm and 20cm saucepans with tempered glass lids.

Both the blue and cream sets’ exteriors match perfectly with the soft touch Bakelite handles and lid knobs, and the Cermalon® ceramic silver sparkle non-stick coating ensures healthier cooking without the need for oils and fats.

Other products in A365 Ltd’s cookware range include: Cermalon® 5 Piece Blush Pink Pan Set, Cermalon® 5 Piece Matt Teal Pan Set, 5 Piece Rose Gold Pan Set, Durastone® Professional Crisper, Durastone® 6 Piece Roasting Set, Durastone® Professional Square Pan and Durastone® Professional 5 Piece Pan Set.

The Durastone® Professional 5 Piece Pan Set is a cost-effective, professional set with a non-stick stone ceramic coating, making it an ideal solution for enthusiastic home chefs. Designed for light, healthy cooking, these pans are truly non-stick, distributing heat evenly throughout and allowing cooking with less butter, fat or oil. This elegant set comprises 20cm and 24cm frying pans, a 14cm milk pan, and 18cm and 20cm saucepans with toughened glass lids.

In other recent developments, the company has seen changes to its operations due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Guy explained, “With the majority of our products classed as non-essential, we had to pivot our business away from the high street to online. We did this successfully and benefitted from the increase in sales of household and garden products as families were forced to stay at home and chose to invest in new products for their homes and gardens. We also recently recruited a

new Commercial Manager, Ibrahim Khalil, to further develop our online presence and online business.”

As the company looks ahead, A365 Ltd maintains many progressive plans including expanding its range and continuing to grow its industry presence and representation. Guy noted, “We are looking for new retail partners who are consumer-focused, share our values and want to work with us to grow our mutual businesses.”

The global sand industry is running out of time, and the UK landscaping market must seek alternatives or see profits slip through the cracks.

50 billion tonnes of aggregate are used annually, and global population growth, urbanisation, and development are driving large increases in international demand for sand and other aggregates. Riverbeds and shorelines worldwide are disappearing due to increased sand piracy & the escalating trade in black market sand.

Azpects Ltd has developed a solution to the aggregate problem when creating patios, paths, and driveways. EASYClickBase is a synthetic sub-base that revolutionises the traditional dig-out stage of installations, saving time, money, and aggregate.

EASYClickBase reduced excavation by 75% and replacement aggregate by 80% in tests on a 50m2 domestic vehicular driveway.

EASYClickBase replaces the traditional full mortar laying bed, limiting the need for sand and cement. Thin surface

dressings, such as porcelain tiles, can be glued directly to the sub-base, while block paving can be laid on a thin layer of bedding sand. Made from 100% recycled plastic, EASYClickBase has the potential to significantly reduce the environmental impact of landscaping projects. easyclickbase@azpects.co.uk

Electrical testing, the future

“Cost of ownership, for facility management firms, has always been a prime consideration in the design of our electrical testers,” said Brendan Beaver, the Manager of Metrel UK Limited, based in Epsom in Surrey. “Our design teams have, for the last sixty years, brought innovative designs to market, not always under our name but as design sub-contractors for better known brands.”

“However since we have been selling under our own name, Metrel has been quite disruptive in the market. Rather than using the conventional custom liquid crystal displays we have used dot matrix screens. This has allowed us to adopt a much more flexible approach to testing, whether it be PAT testing or electrical installation testing, permitting us to respond to new and changed regulations without the need for our customers to purchase prated testers.”

Always up to date

“Four years ago when we launched our class leading multi-function testers, MI 3152 and MI 3155, which both have full colour touch screens, electric vehicle supply equipment (EVSE) or car chargers were almost unknown, let alone a protocol for testing them both electrically and functionally. However, Metrel’s product managers and engineers trawled the standards to understand the requirement for testing and set to work building the first EVSE adaptor. Because it mimicks an electric vehicle, it gives access to the whole electrical charging system, without opening the box, giving access for electrical testing. Standards required a CD to protect the system and the choice is to use an expensive B type or combine some form of DC protection breaking the circuit at 6 mA with an A type RCD. The vast majority of EVSE manufacturers have opted for the latter, so a special DC RCD trip test had to be devised, as well as a good, repeatable stable loop test. A test sequence was written of functional test, voltage measurement, a suite of earth loop and fault current measurements and a full auto CD test on both the AC and DC breaker and loaded in the firmware of the new instruments. Rather than behaving like other tester manufacturers, we did not say to early purchasers of the testers, “unlucky get another tester”. Instead Metrel has a policy of making instrument upgrades available FREE. And not when the user takes the tester to be calibrated, but immediately it is released using the Metrel website.”

Familiarity saves money

Brendan continued, “Our new tester, be they multi-functional tester, PAT testers, power quality analysers or earth testers are all designed on the same firmware platform, so that when a user move from one machine to another, is familiar with not only the look and feel of the

tester but also the way it works. This familiarity saves time and reduces errors. Additionally, the Metrel electrical safety management software (MESM) can handle all the testers’ results. Our multi-function testers do all the tests you would expect; voltage, insulation resistance, continuity, RCD testing, a high current and an enviably repeatable non-trip earth loop impedance tests, in which user have every confidence. These can be accessed through the single test menu or can be initiated through the memory management system for consistent testing regimen. The test results can be stored on-board, but more of that later.”

Some special tests for you

“More unusual tests pertinent to FM applications, this more than capable pair of testers can perform are functions like illumination measurement for work stations and emergency lighting using one of a pair of light meter accessories. The results can be committed to the memory for your records.”

“Another really useful function is cable tracing not just when fault finding but also on those occasions when one is expected to change an office layout at the drop of a hat. The multifunction tester acts as the signal generator while a detector accessory traces the cable runs around the walls and floors. On this occasion the results can't be recorded on the machine but in the real world.”

“Power quality is another suite of tests you would not expect on a multi-function tester; however Metrel let your technician watch the power drawn by a circuit, and the harmonics and the load current to improve the balance. Using the current function with a clamp you can also measure the earth leakage current by placing the lines & neutral with in the jaws, a simple and subtle method of problem solving.”

“The combination of 3-wire and stake-less earth electrode resistance measurement is extremely useful on first installing an earth stake and then for monitoring its ongoing performance to ensure there is no risk to the machine operators. I could go on and talk about other tests but I don’t want to bore you.”

Memory like no other

“I do want to finally to tell you about the incredible memory management system on both these touch-screen testers,” said Brendan. “It out classes any of the storage and downloading system found on any other testers. For the last twenty plus years, tester manufacturers have been trying to sell the merits of downloading instruments. It is only now that the Metrel machines allow the operator to actually abandon their pencil!”

“You build a schematic of each job, from a complete premises electrical system, the output from one distribution board, to a single circuit that you are modifying, either on the tester itself or in the software package that comes with the tester.”

“Testing can then be done in one of two ways, Firstly it can be done a test at a time from the single test menu and the result stored against the point in the circuit for later use. Or much more powerfully, when building the schematics of the electrical system from the drawing, the electrical test manager can decide which tests they want done on what and prescribe the tests against parts of the system.”

“The operator can see the testing to be done, and do it in any order they fancy. If they can’t remember the connections to make, touching the ‘?’ on the screen will display the help diagrams so they can get ahead. Because the testers hold all the latest edition of the Wiring Regulation tables in memory, it can advise whether the test is a pass or fail. Of course, that decision is finally left with the engineer, if it is satisfactory it can be stored at the press of a single button, and a full keyboard allows notes to be made against it too. The machine shows what tests are still to be done and where there are failures to investigate further.”

“Once back in the office the tester is connected to the MESM software via a USB connection, you hit the ‘get data’ button and tell the system which IET certificate you want filled, Installation, EICR, Minor Works or EVSE.”

“When the visionaries mooted downloading test instrument, this is how they meant it to be.”

Multimodal 2021

Multimodal 2021 celebrated fourteen years of putting shippers, retailers, manufacturers, wholesalers, importers, and exporters in front of exhibitors who offer the latest logistics and supply chain solutions.

The three-day show at the Birmingham NEC, offered a unique opportunity to make valuable face-to-face contact with new prospects and existing companies. Shippers and cargo owners at the free-to-attend show improved their businesses by finding ways of moving their products more efficiently and by meeting new suppliers.

Multimodal 2022 is set to further build on the previous success with a seminar series focusing on supply chain sustainability and resilience, looking at ways to harness the power of people, tech, and innovation to future proof logistics. The sessions will look at how the industry can embrace change, boost sustainable credentials, and remain resilient.

Multimodal has teamed up with the Institute of Export and International Trade (IOE&IT), who will be presenting two days of training giving practical advice and guidance on best practice for international trade to and from the UK. Delegates taking part in the seminars will qualify for IOE&IT Continuing Professional Development (CPD) points.

On day three, Multimodal is teaming up with education

Embrace the latest technology and increase efficiency

Ingot is a cloud based freight forwarding solution, which has been specifically designed to allow freight forwarders to connect electronically to carriers, overseas agents and customers and automate manual processes, to provide a whole host of improvements including accuracy, driving efficiency and protecting margins.

Derived from team members Andy Roberts, Martin Gill and Lewis Hides experience working together on IT solutions for the freight industry since 2013; at this time, the team developed the first platform in the UK that integrated with carriers to provide electronic data exchange (EDI) via INTTRA.

This revolutionary platform marked a new era for how users viewed shipment information, opposed to previous traditional methods of handwritten notes and spreadsheets. Leading on from this, the team added further data integrations to improve connectivity between carriers, shipping portals, hauliers and overseas agents.

In 2018, the team established Ingot to provide an alternative for small and medium sized freight forwarders, to help them by offering impartial, accurate

tracking data and plans to provide enhanced customs clearance solutions, later this year. Helping them to digitalise their processes, Ingot’s new Freight management solutions, helps its customers to drive efficiency and performance. Whether it’s needed for sea, air or road logistics, Ingot provides full, reliable visibility and tracking of shipment locations, available in one centralised platform.

As the global freight and logistics industry continues to digitalise, Ingot’s main ambition is to become the digital standard for freight forwarding.

Bealies Adaptive Wear

My name is Caron Mcluckie, I am a 56-year-old mother of three children, Theo, 27, Emile, 20 and Esther, 18. We live in Stockport and for nearly 30 years I have worked as a mental health social worker. In January 2016, Emile had suffered a spinal cord stroke which had left him paralysed from the chest down.

Emile has coped with this traumatic event; his resilience is astounding. Emile has no bladder or bowel function, and we must self-catheterise to empty his bladder.

It soon became clear, once we got into our daily routine, that clothes did not fit

him properly while he sat in the wheelchair. More importantly, even the comfortable joggers that Emile likes to wear did not provide easy access to catheterise. After looking around the market I couldn’t find anything suitable, so I designed my own bespoke joggers with a unique opening to enable comfortable dressing and self catheterising. They are higher at the back to avoid sagging while sitting and

transferring to ensure everything is covered! The joggers have a slim fit leg (which is fashionable presently) and we will also have a regular fit for people with more muscle mass on their legs, to ensure a better fit for different disabilities and all shapes and sizes.

LapCabby: Helping save time and keep data safe

The challenge

With the integration of GDPR throughout the UK, the need for safer, encrypted data within the hospital is imperative for The Royal Orthopaedic Hospital, Birmingham (ROH).

Matthew Maycock, IT Project and Infrastructure Manager, sought a secure, wall-mounted charging cabinet. In a busy environment with multiple users and devices, compartments needed to be locked but allowed clinicians access to their devices quickly and

easily. Microsoft has recently partnered with the NHS to integrate fraud protection in all new Surface Pro units.

The solution

The LapCabby Lyte Wall unit, designed for Microsoft Surface Pro, was the most suitable product to meet these requirements. Through a consultative and collaborative approach, LapCabby worked closely with ROH to develop a solution with a specification that was

tailored to them.

Concerns surrounding data protection and encryption are now a thing of the past for ROH. The Lyte Wall SP ensures that devices are secure, fully charged, ventilated and ready to go. There are now 10 Lyte Wall units safely mounted on walls throughout ROH. These can be found behind nurse’s stations, in ICU and within private wards.

Value-based recyclable designed to save NHS

In this issue of Healthcare Matters, we are delighted to announce that we have chosen to present our Industry Excellence Award to Biomed96 for its continued research and contribution towards the healthcare industry. “Biomed96 offers a fully comprehensive range of patient monitoring solutions that have been specifically designed to solve various challenges such as infection prevention within the healthcare industry. Supporting the delivery of fast response clinical care, our mission is to provide all of our clients with a secure, efficient, and consistently high-quality service,” stated Yasir.

Biomed96 was founded by Yasir Burney who possesses crucial expertise and experience within the healthcare industry. “I am a highly qualified Biomedical Engineer with a BSC in Biomedical Engineering, MSc in Electronics Engineering and MSc in Cyber Security. I am currently furthering my education by studying fulltime for a PhD in Cyber Security. I have over 18 years’ experience in the biomedical engineering field in the UK and abroad,” stated Yasir.

be looking to further contribute towards the healthcare industry, as it finds itself located in and among a thriving business community.

Over the past few years there has been a slow shift towards disposable medical supplies and single-use medical devices. Since the emergence of COVID-19, these products have become essential in beating the virus. COVID-19 and other healthcare associated infections can be very costly to hospitals and clinics, and some re-usable medical devices carry a huge risk of potential cross-contamination. One main negative with disposable medical devices and accessories is the ever-growing concern about

increase of expenditure on the NHS, in response, Biomed96 has enforced its promise to help the NHS save money during COVID-19 and beyond by offering the lowest production costs on the market, including free delivery. Furthermore, same-day delivery to the Black Country region is available and this delivery service will expand to further regions soon. With an aim to save NHS infection-related costs, we have an extensive product portfolio that includes a range of tailored products to enhance and provide a mix of critical care patient monitoring support devices. Through our extensive line of high-quality ECGs, leads, temperature probes, and blood pressure cuffs, exposure to infectious agents and associated cost savings can be significantly minimised,” said Yasir.

are currently having problems with delivery. A combination of Brexit, COVID-19 and the Ukrainian war has meant this is the case for the whole sector. The prices of hiring a container are rising, and as a result it will be difficult for us to keep the prices at a low cost. Prices are set to increase across the industry, but we pride ourselves in providing products that save hospitals up to 50% off that of the OEM. We are experts at the end of the day and our main goal is to keep costs low while still maintaining our highquality service to our customers. We are currently exploring new ways of sourcing products that won’t have a huge effect on trade or business. Air shipment is cheaper than sea shipment, so this is an area we are looking into. We have inevitably had to take a reduced profit of just 10% but we hope this is just temporary until the economy can get back on its feet,” explained Yasir.

The Wolverhampton-based company has recently acquired a new office inside the Technology Centre at The University of Wolverhampton Science Park. The Science Park has three centres for Creative Industries, Science, and Technology, and is well-known for being the home of around 100 businesses working across a broad range of technological and creative disciplines including environmental management, training and education, healthcare and business support services. Where Biomed96 differ is that its products are 100% recyclable. “Our products echo our ‘go green’ policy. We have made a conscious shift over the past 12 months to ensure that our products not only make a difference to a patient’s health and quality of life, but to also contribute towards our journey of a net zero future. Reducing our carbon footprint is not only important for our business but also for the planet and the economy. The disposal of products provided to and used within the healthcare industry play a significant role in reducing overall greenhouse gas emissions, and we believe our products are essential in making that change happen,” said Yasir.

Biomed96 has also been quick to respond to the incremental effects and pressures COVID-19 has had on the healthcare industry, specifically the NHS. “With witnessing first-hand the

Launching a business in the midst of a global pandemic was a risk that has most certainly paid off for Biomed96 founder Yasir. Biomed96 is only a young company but has made an immediate impact on the industry by challenging the biggest issues in the healthcare sector. Still in the initial stages of business, Biomed96 has already registered with ICO (Information Commissioner’s Office) and become an acclaimed member of FSB (Federation of Small Business.)

is where we believe technology can potentially advance advice accessibility. One specific handheld medical device is the SonoStar Ultrasound Probe. SonoStar Technologies Co. As such a young company with many future goals, Biomed96 is rapidly gaining a respectable name for itself within the medical industry. Yasir’s personal experience and level of expertise has helped the NHS save many lives by producing and delivering comprehensive medical devices that have been, and continue to be, groundbreaking introductions into the medical industry.

Proving most popular throughout COVID-19 and beyond was Biomed96’s single disposable set products that can be used on patients from time of admission to discharge. “We have the largest range of patient monitoring consumables in the UK that are designed to save time and costs for hospitals. We have the capabilities to customise orders according to customer requirements such as adjusting the length of the cable or by printing their asset numbers onto the product. All of our products are ISO13485 certified which is the standard for medical equipment, and we pride ourselves on the fact that we are the only company in the healthcare market that provides free delivery to the NHS,” said Yasir.

But it’s not just the healthcare sector to which Biomed96 market within. Marked as a relatively new industry, Biomed96 has just entered the veterinary services industry with an innovative new product. Designed only for animals, Biomed96 is due to launch a range of Veterinary Ultrasound Machines to which it will begin marketing soon. “We are really excited about this range as we believe there is a large gap in the market. Biomed96 is also extremely keen to gift opportunities to young, hopeful students, therefore, as part of the ‘Kick Start’ scheme, a government funded scheme that provides funding to employers to create temporary jobs for 16 to 24 year olds, Biomed96 currently runs a training programme aided towards young people in the biomedical engineering field. Soon to come to market by the end of the year is the development of a level three biomedical technician training course for servicing and repairing major medical equipment that will be based at Biomed96’s training centre. Participants will be given certificates upon completion of the course to which Yasir is currently in talks with

In closing, we asked Yasir how he felt receiving our Industry Excellence Award, he responded, “I feel honoured, it is a great achievement in such a short period of time, and it shows the appreciation of what Biomed96 is doing in saving NHS infection related costs. As our products are 100% recyclable and environmentally friendly, we are thrilled to be contributing towards a net zero future and want to pave the way for many more companies within the healthcare industry to follow suit.”

Vitcheck: Multi-award winning technology dispensing personalised nutrition

Vitcheck has been specially developed for pharmacy to allow targeted personalised nutrition recommendations to be integrated into dispensing practice. This easy to use web-based platform designed by a pharmacist with nutritional medicine expertise enables any personalised nutrition recommendations needed by the patient to be in less time than it takes to dispense a prescription item.

It works by identifying the single and incremental detrimental effects different medications, as well those created by elements of life-stage, lifestyle and diet might have on micronutrient status. The database of every UK generic and branded medicine identifies over 4,000 incidences where medications alone impact upon this important element of good health.

It allows recommendations to be made to patients using a simple to understand traffic light system that suggests which micronutrient deficits can be corrected by diet-and how-and which require supplementation. All recommendations are evidence based with hyperlinks to the actual references used as their basis.

Care has been our focus for over 30 years. We design, produce, and deliver these pharmacy exclusive products under our Medicare, Lifesense and Physiologix brands.

The pharmacy package includes a tablet device, staff training, and a limited range of competitively priced supplements to meet any recommendations. Outlets in UK, Ireland and Australia are currently signed up to use Vitcheck, designated as the number one personalised nutrition tool.

Hair care with special caffeineformulations

Caffeine is well known for its stimulating effects and numerous studies of the Dr. Wolff Group from Germany have gone deeper into the effects of this plant-derived phytochemical supporting the natural hair and skin status. Caffeine has undergone important validation steps – from proof of principle in the in vitro setting to controlled clinical studies in vivo. Besides the caffeine-effect on hair follicles it has further been investigated how caffeine can reach the relevant compartments of the skin and hair out of a shampoo formulation.

In vivo studies in males and females further examined the beneficial effects of caffeine-containing topical formulations.

During the Pharmacy Show 2022 in Birmingham Dr. Wolff Group presented both caffeine-based shampoo brands Alpecin & Plantur 39. The respective ranges offer a broad range of products with specially dedicated formulations to meet the needs of both male and female hair.

Many women who experience irritation during menstruation think it’s a normal symptom. However, there are many factors that can cause irritation during the time of the month.

Sensitive skin issues can be caused by underwear made from manmade fabrics, such as nylon and polyester, which doesn’t allow air to pass through to the intimate area. This creates an over-humid microclimate on the skin which can encourage growth of bacteria causing itching, this can lead to redness, burning and swelling.

Another factor is 84% of women reported a lifetime history of pubic hair grooming. Pubic hair acts as a natural barrier to the skin, allowing the intimate area to breathe.

Lastly, conventional pads usually contain super absorbent polymers, which are used to absorb period blood. They are good for holding period blood; however, they can cause vulva-vaginal skin dryness. Conventional pads are commonly made from synthetic materials such as polypropylene, viscose, cellulose, and rayon. These materials are

BiaBelle Beauty

The CBD market is growing in the UK

The CBD market is one of the fastestgrowing industries in the world.

According to the Association for the Cannabinoid Industry (ACI), the UK has ‘improbably’ become the world’s secondlargest consumer cannabinoids market after the US, spending more on cannabis extracts domestically than vitamin B and C combined.

There are many legal cannabis products on the UK market for internal and topical

uses, but one of the leading uses of CBD is for pain relief.

A study of CBD products was performed by surveying patients from seven pain clinics in Southern California (2018, 2019) and their experiences with CBD were predominantly positive. Participants reported a reduction in overall pain and being more comfortable receiving CBD through prescription or purchase from their healthcare provider.

Mute to help thousands this World Sleep Day

As we look to World Sleep Day promoting quality sleep, research by Nasal Dilator www. mutesnoring.com has found that two fifths of people are losing at least 2 hours of sleep every night due to loud noises according to their study of 2,000 Brits. Nine in 10 have occasions where they struggle to get to sleep due to noise and disruptions, spending an hour and 22 minutes lying awake each night.

Snoring is the biggest disrupter of sleep, with almost a quarter being kept awake by their partner’s nocturnal rumblings and one in 10 waking themselves up from their own snoring.

Steve Smith, UK Manager for www.mutesnoring. com, added, “Snoring in particular can be a big hindrance to not only our sleeping patterns, but those of our loved ones. It has even led to some relationships ending, so finding the right way to open up the airways and improve the experience for all is vital. We know that a nasal dilator helps to reduce the severity of snoring by opening nasal passages.”

Mute, the nasal dilator, has been shown to help snorers; particularly those with night-time nasal congestion or nasal obstructions. Intelliclad praised for its fire safety alarm system

The Minister of State for Building Safety and Fire recently visited residents in a Croydon apartment building to further understand the installation of Intelliclad’s innovative and patented alarm system that installs smoke detectors into the external façade alongside an internal alarm system that confirms to current guidance.

Impressed by its design to boost safety and remove extortionate Waking Watch patrol costs, Lord Greenhalgh

commented, “Intelliclad approached me in response to my call for new technology that might ensure the risk of fire and fire spread could be mitigated at buildings rather than going down the route of full remediation. I’ve enjoyed learning more about the system and would encourage more innovation of this nature such that safety risks in more buildings can be mitigated.”

Lord Greenhalgh continued a full tour of the building, where conversations of future use, installation processes

and technology background took place. Knowing full well the scope and competency of its fire alarm system, Darron Brough, Intelliclad Founder commented, “Meeting Lord Greenhalgh gave us a fantastic opportunity to showcase how Intelliclad and our team can help address building safety issues across the UK. Our product is compliant, thoroughly tested and has been endorsed by credible names within the fire safety world.”

Tio Fire Safety delivers UK first with revolutionary Digital Logbook

T he paper fire logbook, a critical link in the safety of millions of UK buildings has been updated and made fit for modern safety, facilities and compliance professionals with the launch of the revolutionary digital fire logbook from Tio Fire Systems. Cloud-based and permitted under BS5839-1, Tio’s true Digital Fire Logbook is priced and designed to replace a range of paper logbooks, and is pre-configured to bring together a huge number of fire, safety and security topics in one place. It is quick to set up and as easy to use as paper, solves a multitude of issues and radically improves safety, relationships and compliance for all parties, including the building occupier, service provider, risk assessor, installer, commissioning engineers and emergency services.

Full of unique features, Tio’s logbook includes: a complete digital audit history of actions and changes; a compliance task manager that automatically schedules and tracks tasks for service providers and building occupiers; a customisable guidance module that helps staff complete jobs, linked asset registers and asset maintenance histories; variances; false alarm and activations tracker; custom tasks creator; fire visitor logbook; and digital documents storage. All users get performance and compliance dashboards, permitting oversight and management from a single site to vast portfolios of properties. Tio’s rapid asset management software, designed specifically for fire safety can also be integrated into the logbooks giving an unprecedented level of compliance from the asset up and making asset servicing more accurate and more manageable.

Tio also replaces paper document storage boxes, with a digital document box available with each logbook. The digital logbooks is just as accessible as a QR code is displayed, giving either open access to the public logbook and Cloud-based records or, where security is a concern, access only to permitted individuals and organisations such as risk assessors and fire and rescue services making inspections and audits quicker and simpler. The digital logbook can be shared electronically or printed as a pdf.

“Today, there is rightly much more focus on correct compliance, from a building occupier, and FM perspective right through to service providers and the logbook is central to this,” said Jason Hill, sales manager for Tio Fire Safety. “Paper logbooks are too often, inaccurate, incomplete, duplicated, misplaced or lost, all serious issues that are removed in a click with Tio. We call our product the only true digital fire logbook because, while other products do call themselves logbooks, they are in reality limited, one-way customer portals or engineer tools, not genuine improvements on the paper logbook that permit contributions from all stakeholders. Our Digital Fire Logbook delivers all of the required information, which can be accessed and entered on any web-connected device, ensuring the very best compliance and safeguarding the integrity of the information in any fire incident.

“At Tio, we believe that fire safety, compliance and maintenance are better achieved through clear communication and efficient management of tasks, assets and responsibilities across many teams and parties. A digital record is becoming essential for accountability and best practice. The logbook can be used independently, combined with our own asset management suite, or integrated with a growing number of fire and safety software providers.”

Tio is a fast-growing fire and safety software provider, created and staffed by UK fire and safety industry experts from estates managers and OEMs to service and maintenance engineers, ensuring its products are fast, efficient and solve customer problems while improving building safety.

Loving Foods

Clive’s Wines

Proudly produced in the creative capital county of Staffordshire. Clive’s Wines Ltd has been producing fruit wines of distinction for 10 years, using locally grown fruit from farms around Staffordshire and handpicked elderflowers during the spring to make authentic fruit wines made in the traditional way.

Serving farm shops, delis, garden centres & independent pubs around the Midlands and now nationwide, Clive’s Wines prides itself in bringing great fruit wines to a wide audience of wine drinkers, looking for an alternative English wine to suit a wide variety of palettes.

Founded in 2016 by family trio Mendel, Adam and Faye, Loving Foods was created to fill a gap in the market for real, unpasteurised fermented food and drink.

The fermented food and drink market is currently undergoing somewhat of a renaissance, with double-digit growth forecast for the next few years, as consumers begin to re-discover the lost art of fermentation. In truth, it isn’t really a lost art at all, with fermentation being a core component of many popular, everyday items such as bread, beer, wine, chocolate and cheese. But some of the more interesting products had faded out of view for lots of people, until recently that is.

This resurgence is due, in large part, to a growing realisation of the importance of dietary health to our overall health. As the world recovers from a global pandemic, health and immunity is high on everyone’s radar. Fermented foods and drinks contain a wide variety of vitamins, minerals, acids and enzymes – not to mention beneficial live bacteria – that can have extremely positive effects on gastro-intestinal health, immune system function, and therefore overall health.

Loving Foods produce a range of over 20 organic, gut-friendly products, including Sauerkrauts, Kimchis, Kombuchas and Hot Sauce. Everything is made locally, from all natural ingredients, at their eco-friendly facility near the historic Bridgewater Canal in Manchester. Their products contain no artificial colourings, flavourings, preservatives or stabilisers. Just fresh organic fruit, vegetables, herbs and spices.

Every batch that they produce is hand-made and fermented for a minimum of three weeks and is always 100% raw and unpasteurised. This is critical to the various health benefits of fermented food that readers will have heard about in the media recently. Most commercial products are either not properly fermented, or have been pasteurised, destroying all of the beneficial bacteria and enzymes.

To cope with the increased demand for their products, Loving Foods will shortly be moving into a new production facility, almost three times the size of their current one. It is hoped that this will help meet demand for the next few years at least.

You can buy Loving Foods products from smaller, local, health food retailers, or online from Abel & Cole, via Amazon, or at: www.lovingfoods.co.uk – where you can get 20% off your first order with the discount code ‘PAS20’.

Our small but dedicated team prides itself on the quality of our wines, with every batch tested to ensure it meets our exacting demands of taste & quality.

We produce 8 flavours of our fruit wines in 750ml and 187ml bottles sizes as well as giftsets.

Our star product is our Rhubling ‘Rhub’ ‘ling’, –Sparkling Rhubarb wine, made in the traditional champagne method to bring to you a delightfully light, bubbly demi-sec sparkling wine, as a great alternative to champagne.

We are on a mission to bring our wines to a wider audience and show that fruit wines are real wines made wine love, care and devotion.

FlatMap® by SEALPAC: Resource saving, optimal shelf life & attractive appearance

T he new FlatMap® packaging system puts sliced meat, dairy and seafood products in the spotlight. These products are placed on a flat cardboard carrier made from bleached or unbleached fibre. The carrier is coated with a thin protective layer, which provides stability, as well as a reliable barrier against fat, moisture and oxygen. The products are securely sealed under modified atmosphere by means of a thin lidding film, hence prolonging their shelf life. Both the protective layer and lidding film are polyolefin based, making them fully recyclable. Due to the perfectly flat design of the pack, an entirely new level of reclosability can be achieved. This ensures optimal freshness until the very last slice and enables

first-class storage in the consumer’s refrigerator without the need for repacking.

FlatMap® provides exceptional opportunities with regard to branding and product information. The cardboard carrier can be printed in high quality on both sides, therefore offering plenty of space for product explanations, brand image and consumer communication.

Compared to common modified atmosphere packaging, up to 75% of plastic can be saved. At the same time, recycling is improved. After finishing the product, the thin layer is easily removed from the cardboard carrier by means of a peel tab, to allow for disposal as plastic waste together with the lidding film.

The new FlatMap® system was developed by SEALPAC in close cooperation with established partners Van Genechten Packaging (cardboard) and Buergofol (layer and lidding film). As a result, perfect handling on fully automated lines is guaranteed.

Sealpac UK & Partners are the official distributor of SEALPAC products in the UK & Ireland. FlatMap® packaging is available on all SEALPAC A-Series tray sealers.

Bell introduces Reused Ocean Plastic for 2022

Oneof the most exciting new developments in the plastic packaging industry is our ability to access and reprocess the post-consumer waste found on our beaches, riverbanks and along the perimeters of our oceans.

Unfortunately, plastic is now seen as a bad product – yet out of sight, beneath the surface of our oceans, there are millions of tons of other waste packaging made from glass, paperboard and metal that do not float and therefore cannot be seen.

Plastic has become a key focus on social media and in television documentaries, with politicians and supermarkets looking for ways to enhance their green credentials and promote a greener world.

There can be no excuse for rubbish being discarded into the environment and Bell are one of the first companies in Europe to endorse and support the collection and recycling of these materials.

In 2019 Bell launched Retran® – a polyesterbased material containing a minimum 70% recycled content. The credentials of this material are very high – pharmaceutical and food grade, with excellent clarity and full certification. The product has been hugely successful and nearly 80% of our customers around the world have switched to this exciting new product.

The 70% recycled content meets the new plastic packaging tax being introduced in April 2022, however Bell recognised the need to keep moving forward and in 2021 introduced Biojet®. In simple terms, this is Retran® with an additive that stimulates and accelerates the biodegrading process.

While both of these products have been hugely successful, we recognised that even more needed to be done. Bell have worked throughout the pandemic, to identify reliable sources of plastic derived from the ocean. In simple terms this is ‘Reused Ocean Plastic’.

The polymer used to produce the new packaging is being sourced from companies who organise local communities to collect plastic waste from beaches, riverbanks and ocean perimeters. Generally, these are communities who do not have the infrastructure for waste management but by paying local people to collect the plastic and deliver it to recycling facilities, the problem is reduced.

As we have all seen, there are large quantities of plastic waste floating in the sea. If we can help to collect and reuse some of this waste, and turn it back into useful products, then we are taking a significant step forward towards a better global environment.

The new material has been extensively tested and meets the minimum strength requirements of our processes. It has excellent optical qualities and our testing to date reports that there has been no difference in the performance of the new material, compared to Retran®, Jetran® or Biojet® packaging. Bell Packaging have started converting Reused Ocean Plastic for our forming and insert divisions, with tubing and boxes to follow in 2022.

Samples and more information are available from our offices in Luton.

Chaos x Winters x Foilco

Winter & Company join Foilco to embrace creative (3D) Chaos by offering over 300,000 possibilities of foil and cover materials to digital artists and creatives.

All three companies are market leaders within their own respective fields and have teamed up together to offer the most comprehensive offering of digital material assets for use in photorealistic renderings (product mock-ups) and real-time visualisations (retail placement) in print-related projects.

Coupled with Foilco’s existing foil listings, this new collaboration will see over three hundred thousand potential foil and paper combinations being readily available in the Chaos Scans Library.

The huge offering allows for digital mock-ups to be created using Foilco Foils and Winters materials at the click of a button, meaning less reliance on early iterations of physical mockups and a reduction of costs associated with specialist,

short-run work.

The Chaos scan format enables a highly detailed and consistent appearance, allowing the customer to see their product in a completely realistic format.

Light reactive qualities allow full rotations and environment/scene placements to give specifiers an even greater insight into the potential impact their choices will have on the consumer.

Thanks to this collaboration, digital presentation possibilities have moved a little closer to the physical world. For a #PHYGITAL future.
