Know About Difference between Types of Travel Accommodations

Accommodation is one of the major concerns for every traveler. It is the most important part of any trip. There are lots of accommodations options available for trips like hotels, motels, resorts, inns, camping, hostels, home rentals etc. But most of us are not aware of the difference between the most common terms of travel accommodations. Just for the information, here we are providing the difference between Hotels, Motels, Resorts, Inns, Guesthouses, and Villas. Hotels – The hotels were found in 1765. They are mainly for providing shelter, food and other amenities. Hotels can be found anywhere, such as in the cities, towns, in the outskirts of the cities, near the airport, railway station, bus terminal, in the countryside and many more. Hotels have many amenities, more rooms, and more floors. Motels – The motels came into existence in 1925 and it is a blend of the words Motor and Hotel. They are just basic hotels that are accessed by motor vehicles. Motels were originated in the United States of America as the hotels along the highways that offer to lodge to people who are on road trips. The Motels are only located on the highways or on the outskirts of the towns. Resorts – Resorts are the concept of hotels. Resorts generally are based on themes or have any attraction. They are basically based on the beach, wildlife, highland, Water Park, river, etc. Here, the travelers come and stay for a longer duration. They spend their quality leisure time, be lazy, enjoy the activities, etc. The resorts have generally wide open areas and its architecture blends with the surroundings.


Inns – Usually, Inn is a term used for a business that provides accommodation close to a country or along a highway. Inn is an older term that usually related to the places whose main business is providing food and drinks along with a place to stay. These are generally smaller, generally not more than the first floor, and are commonly found in the countryside. Guesthouses – Guesthouses are generally cheaper than hotels. Hotels are more commercialized while guest houses and home stays offer a homely environment at a lower price. Some Hotels look like quite a monotonous thing providing the same hospitality and ambiance everywhere while guesthouses provide you more with homely environment. Villas – Villas are like the Service apartments that just have the ground floor and it can be in Duplex style for a 2 - 4 Bedroom villa. These villas are for the use of a single family or a group. The villa also has one lockable key for the main door (outside) for the entire villa. Those who stay in Villas are provided by the same facilities and services available in the premise as just like the hotels.
