Academy News Student Pharmacist Academy News Greetings, Student Pharmacists, Congratulations to the Class of 2012! The University of Arizona College of Pharmacy and Midwestern University College of Pharmacy Glendale graduated 95 and 126 new pharmacists, respectively! We wish all the graduates great success as you embark on your pharmacy career and hope you will remain active members of the Arizona Pharmacy Association as new practitioners. We have been honored to represent our fellow students on behalf of our colleges of pharmacy. Please continue to support AzPA and the Student Pharmacist Academy (SPA) as your new Co-Chairs begin their terms: Sophia Galloway, Pharm.D. Candidate Class of 2014 for Midwestern University and Eric Wong, Pharm.D. Candidate, Class of 2014, for the University of Arizona. We are very excited to have you represent your schools on the AzPA Board of Directors. As the Student Pharmacist Academy finishes its second year of existence, we have much to celebrate and many plans for this coming year. The AzPA SPA will be active with other student organizations on the colleges of pharmacy campuses and busy coordinating events throughout the year. On April 28, 2012, the AzPA Student Pharmacist Leadership Conference offered leadership training to 24 student pharmacist leaders from both MWU-CPG and UofA COP. This prestigious program is offered to a select group of student leaders who apply to participate in the program. The next AzPA SPA Leadership Conference is planned for April 2013. Invitations will be extended in early 2013. If you are interested in participating, be sure to get involved with your student organizations and demonstrate your leadership. During the Student Pharmacist Leadership Conference, two very special student pharmacists were honored with the AzPA Pharmacy Academy Award for the SPA for their outstanding leadership and service to the AzPA SPA during the previous year. The 2011-2012 recipients are Qian Julia Liu from Midwestern University and Nathan Smith from the University of Arizona. Thank you, Julia and Nathan, for all you do for AzPA.
