NMT focuses on assisting children in forming new pathways for healthy brain development.
It provides a framework for assessing the child, identifying issues and strengths, and applying educational, enrichment, and therapeutic interventions
The model includes an assessment tool that produces a graphical illustration of the child's current brain functioning, allowing for the consideration of developmental risk and resiliency factors.
Based on the results of the NMT metric, specific therapeutic activities are prescribed to support healthier brain development and recovery from trauma.

Goal Setting: Helping children set and achieve personal goals
Anger Management: Teaching techniques to manage and reduce anger
Social Skills: Enhancing interpersonal skills to improve interactions with peers and adults
Problem Solving: Developing effective problem-solving strategies.
Resisting Peer Pressure: Equipping children with skills to resist negative peer influences.
Study Skills: Improving academic skills and habits
Positive Peer Groups: Encouraging the formation of supportive and positive peer relationships
Structure
The model consists of 34 structured group therapy sessions. These sessions are delivered by a licensed clinician at least weekly
There is a component for parents, which can be integrated with the child's treatment.
This ensures that parents are actively involved in their child's therapeutic process, reinforcing the skills and strategies learned during the sessions
The Coping Power model is designed to address the specific needs of children at risk of conduct problems by providing them with the skills necessary for effective living and positive social interactions.
