Nurture Your Character

Students from seven different schools in Buckinghamshire gathered at AGS to hear the announcement of the winners in both Bucks Book Award categories.

The morning started with a talk by Sue Upton, the author of the dystopian trilogy ‘Paper Boats and Butterflies’ who gave an engaging talk on her writing process as well as detailing some of the historic references in her books.

And, after the talk, Sue announced the winners of the BBA short story competition, followed by 2023 BBA Winners.

The Children’s Book Prize was won by “Until the End” by Derek Landy and “As Good as Dead” by Holly Jackson won the Sue Harris YA Prize.

All 80+ students took part in the Big Bucks Book Award Quiz.

The quiz consisted of 6 rounds of 10 questions with individual prizes throughout the quiz.

AGS did well, with Joe in Year 8 winning a spot prize as well as being a member of the winning team along with students from St Mary’s and The Grange school.
