This is a bumper edition as there was so much to cover. The library was super busy this term as we implemented new Reading Challenges for Years 7 & 8, as well as creating lots of new extracurricular enrichment.
There were the usual lunchtime activities, we ran our first Harry Potter week in October and we ended the term with our 12 Days of Christmas event, which has been running since 2019!
This newsletter takes a look at everything that happened in the library during the Autumn term and gives a few hints of some of the events for the Spring term.
Anton is in Year 9 and is one of the ‘kings’ of the school His reputation is built on the back of his jailed father, so all the kids at school are wary of Anton and his friends. One day Anton takes things too far at school so his mum sends him to a youth group in the hope he makes new friends Much to his horror the group is also attended by Matthew who Anton and his friends consider the biggest loser in school.
When Matthew saves Anton’s life, they begin an unlikely friendship, which changes the course of Anton’s life choices and outlook. Does he want his crowning glory to a school bully or should he aspire to more?
The book explores many themes such as toxic masculinity, friendships and peer pressure in an original and humorous way.
This was a much awaited quiz, that was rescheduled from last year! The winner was Beau (8PH) whose superior knowledge and fast reactions meant he led the quiz from start to finish! The runners up were Zach (8PA) and Rishik (8PA) and Tanav (7LE).
