Home Insurance FAQ What is a 4 Point Inspection and when will I be required to provide one for insurance carrier? A 4 Point inspection reviews the roof, electrical, heating + air, as well as the plumbing systems of a home. The inspection is required on homes 30 years old or older. What is a Wind Mitigation Inspection and when do I need one? This is an inspection that reviews the Florida Building Code specifics on your roof, which can qualify you for additional discounts on your home insurance. This inspection should be obtained on any home built 2002 and older, or if the roof has recently been replaced. What is a Hurricane Deductible? A hurricane deductible is a deductible that is only for a hurricane as defined in Florida Statute 627.4025, a hurricane means a storm system that has been declared a “hurricane” by the National Center of the National Weather Service. A named Tropical Storm does not constitute a Hurricane. Will a swimming pool or hot tub affect my insurance? A pool or hot tube is common in Florida, but insurance carriers do have requirements for insuring them: 1. Pool must be surrounded by a 4 ft locking fenced or screened enclosure.

2. Spas must either be within the same fenced/screened enclosure as a pool, or covered with a locking cover. 3. Most carriers do not approve diving boards or slides.

Is a screened enclosure covered on my insurance? There is coverage for your screened enclosure, with the exception of wind damage. You may purchase an endorsement with your home insurance to give the framing structure specific coverage for wind, however most carriers will not provide coverage for the actual screening. 904.710.5702 | amanda@rootrealtyjax.com | https://amanda.jacksonvillefloridahome.com/
