7

The 2000 school year really began in 1999 for us when we came to Ave Maria College for Orientation Day in November. We met our Homeroom teacher and our Homeroom groups, learnt which house we belonged to and began to break the ice with new peers.

We participate in the House Athletics Carnival ar Aberfeldie Park. May

The Chiropractor comes to check our spines. Some of us compete in Inter­ school Athletics.

February We are welcomed at the First College Assembly, and assemble in House groups for the first time.

Half of our Year level participates in the Science Competition.

Homeroom photos are taken — mementos for us to keep.

Our parents learn about the Student Development Program.

We prepare for camp and elect our Homeroom Captains and a Student Representative Council member.

The Indoor Cricket Team competes.

June

We attend a three-day camp at Campaspe Downs and experience many activities and learn more about our College.

The Principals from our Primary Schools are invited to lunch.

We participate in a Cross Country run at the Maribyrnong River.

We swim in the Inter-house carnival.

Peer Support begins with our Year 11 Leaders.

March

The Hockey team competes.

July

A Casual Day for charity allows us the freedom from school uniform for the day.

Ash Wednesday and we receive the Ashes.

August

Representatives from our level attend the St Patrick’s Day Mass at the Cathedral.

Our Grade 6 teachers are invited to school as part of the Orientation Program. Some of us compete in the Inter-school Swimming Carnival.

We experience our first Parent/Teacher/Student Interviews.

An Easter Liturgy ends Term 1. Some of us collect for the Pied Pipers Royal Children’s Hospital Good Friday Appeal.

We participate in the Arts Festival with performances and displays of work.

We have retreats at Brimbank Park with Mr Judge.

Kris Kringle with our Homeroom group means our year together is almost over.

Our parents learn about the Sexuality Program as part of our Health class.

Year 7 is well represented in the College production of‘Annie’. Inter-school Cross-country is held.

Ave Maria Day is celebrated with Mass at St Patricks Cathedral, a Sausage Sizzle at school and Disco in the afternoon. April

A Casual Day is followed by Mass for the Poor.

We participate in the Jubilee Mass at Colonial Stadium. We meet the 2001 Year 7s on their Orientation Day.

We attend a Science/Maths excursion to the Zoo.

Our Grandparents and elderly friends attend our Elders' Liturgy.

January Wearing new school uniforms we congregate in the College Hall for the first day of our Secondary schooling.

Our families attend a social evening and meet our friends and teachers.

Nov

Some of us spend a night in the College Hall for the Winter Sleepout.

Parent/Teacher/Student Interviews come around again. Sept

We participate in an Activities Afternoon with St Bernard’s College.

October We enjoy a Social with St Bernard’s College. Quite a few of us assist on the College Open Day.

Inter-school Softball competition is cancelled due to rains.

Another Casual Day run by the SRC.
