Dear Parents, Students, and Friends of Lianhua Primary School,
At Lianhua Primary School, we believe that every child has the potential not just to grow but to thrive. This year, as I walked the corridors, peeked into classrooms and joined in the joyful noise of recess play and special programmes such as Innovation Week and Young Exploring Scientists (YES!), I saw firsthand the energy, curiosity and wonder that our students bring to school each day. And it reminded me that learning is not just what happens at the desk - it’s what lights up the eyes, activates the hands and fills the heart.

Our outcome for every Lianhua student is bold yet beautifully simple: a passionate learner, a creative and critical thinker, a confident communicator and an exemplary leader. To nurture this thriving student, we don’t just teach - we craft experiences that spark joy, ignite thinking and build character.
A key ingredient in our approach? Play.

At Lianhua, play is not a break from learning - it is learning. Through purposeful play, our children explore, experiment and discover. One powerful way we’ve brought this to life this year is through the use of 6 Bricks - a pedagogical tool that helps our students strengthen their focus, memory, collaboration and creativity. Whether it is a fast-paced brick challenge to sharpen attention or a reflective task that builds spatial reasoning, our students are not just connecting bricks - they’re learning executive functioning skills, laying the foundations for lifelong learning and developing the mental agility and resilience to tackle challenges with confidence.
As you flip through this yearbook, you’ll see moments of pride, perseverance and engagement via play - each one a stepping stone in the journey of a thriving Lianhua student. These moments are shaped by a caring community of teachers, parents and partners who believe that every child can lead, learn and love.
Let us continue to create the right conditions - of warmth, wonder and wisdom - for our children to not only grow but to soar.
Sincerely,
Ms Pamela Kiew Principal and Head Superhero, Lianhua Primary School

Congratulations, you did it! You have completed another year at school, and I am sure you have stored treasure-troves of unforgettable memories, of ups and downs, of successes as well as challenges.
This year has been especially memorable since we restarted our Overseas Cultural Experience (OCE) trip for students after the COVID years. The OCE trip to Chiang Mai was a meaningful experience full of discoveries and growth for both our students and staff. We enjoyed interacting with our Thai friends from Sanpatong Suwannarat Wittayakarn School and learned so much from them about the Thai culture.
As you reflect on the year, I hope you are filled with gratitude for the people who have supported you along the way and enabled you to be a better version of yourself each day.
Do give a big shout out and ‘Thank you!’ to your parents, family members, teachers and not forgetting the support staff like our cleaners, guards and admin team, who have, in big and small ways, made learning possible and more conducive for all of us.

Kudos to the Lianhua team who have been supporting us every day. From the moment you step into the school gates, the prefects, guards, OMs and School Leaders who greet you, to our office staff who help you when you are sick or injured, and our Operations Support Staff and cleaners who ensure that the school is clean and conducive for everyone! And not forgetting, our dedicated educators with their hearts of gold, imparting knowledge and values daily and caring for each and every child.
Have a good break this holidays and we look forward to an exciting year in 2026 as we celebrate Lianhua’s 80th Anniversary!
Sincerely,
Mdm Janice Tan Vice-Principal

To our dedicated teachers and staff—thank you for your creativity, care, and commitment. You make learning come alive every day, and your efforts continue to shape the hearts and minds of our students.
To our parents—thank you for your ongoing support and partnership. And to our students— you are the heart of Lianhua. Keep asking questions, trying new things, looking out for one another, and learning with joy.
As we look ahead, let us continue to grow together - learning with curiosity, leading with compassion, and facing each challenge with courage and resilience.
Sincerely,
Mrs Mavis Low Vice-Principal

o you remember those magical moments when you first wondered why the sky is blue and what a rainbow is made of? This is the special feeling of wanting to know more and the magic of youthful curiosity! Curiosity ignites a sense of wonder, encouraging us to explore, ask questions and motivate us to learn. It sparks and fuels the imagination within us to dream big and see the countless adventures waiting in the world around us.
In school, we have watched your eyes sparkle during Science experiments, seen your excitement when engaged in activities conducted at the Imaginarium and heard your enthusiastic questions during lessons. Every question you have asked has been a step forward in your learning adventure, showing how you have taken charge of your own discovery journey.
Within these yearbook pages, we have captured your delightful moments of Play and Discovery. Each page tells a story of how your curiosity led you to embrace new challenges, forge friendships and dive enthusiastically into school life.
Keep that spark of wonder alive—stay curious, keep asking questions, and let your imagination take flight!
Sincerely,
Mr Lee Tze Wei Jeffrey Vice-Principal

Singapore Silent Heroes (Students) celebrates students in Singapore who embody the spirit of compassion, selflessness and empathy. These students were awarded the Singapore Silent Heroes Student Award. Three of the recipients are from our school! Let’s read on to find out more about our very own award winners.
Saung Than Sin is an exemplary student leader whose quiet strength, humility, and deep sense of service have made a profound impact on her peers and the school community. A school prefect and class monitress since Primary 3, Than Sin consistently models the school values through her words and actions. She is dependable, respectful, and always ready to serve, often stepping up without being asked.
As a key student leader in Project SMILE, she has taken on multiple roles — from emceeing and registration to photography and outreach. Her confidence in public speaking and skill in capturing meaningful moments have made her a valuable asset, with her photos and videos frequently used in school and corporate presentations.
In 2024, Than Sin played a pivotal role in the MILO Project, leading efforts that rallied the school community to collect 2,033 packs for the Hao Ren Hao Shi initiative. This project strengthened the spirit of compassion and unity across the school.
Than Sin's humility, warmth, and leadership inspire those around her. She uplifts others through her actions, not words, and is deeply respected by peers and teachers alike. Her service, selflessness, and quiet excellence truly embody the spirit of a Silent Hero.

CShermin is a dedicated and compassionate student who has made a significant impact through her service and leadership. Since 2022, she has been an active participant in Project SMILE, helping the less fortunate access essential supplies. Her commitment led to her appointment as one of the three senior core team members in 2024, where she plays a key role in the registration process, ensuring smooth operations. She also stepped up as an emcee, demonstrating her confidence and willingness to contribute beyond her primary role.

hanya is a young active volunteer who has a heart of service to help others. She has been a regular volunteer for the monthly Project SMILE since 2021. In 2023, she even stepped up to be part of the Project SMILE core team. She led the role of the team assistant leader and even helped to give instructions to the rest of the volunteers. During the project, she had to make many calls to the recipients to remind them to collect the grocery packs. Chanya is also an enthusiastic musician, she is in the school's handbell ensemble and helped to perform school composed songs in school, recently, she even volunteered in a special mission to perform live singing in front of an audience of cancer patients.
Chanya is an active student volunteer in Project Smile (senior core team). She has taken on multiple responsibilities, including serving as an emcee, managing registration, and calling recipients during events. With a strong understanding of the distribution process, Chanya ensures smooth and efficient operations. Her confidence in public speaking allows her to engage audiences effectively, and she demonstrates strong leadership skills by guiding and supporting other student volunteers. Her dedication and versatility make her an invaluable member of the team.
Beyond her volunteer work, Shermin is a reliable peer mentor, always ready to assist classmates with their studies. She generously supports her teachers, helps with classroom decorations, and actively contributes to school activities. As a committed member of the Handbell team, she not only performs diligently but also helps with equipment setup.
Shermin’s selflessness, strong sense of responsibility, and dedication to helping others make her a role model among her peers. Whether assisting the elderly with patience or supporting school initiatives, she embodies the values of kindness and service. Her quiet diligence and willingness to lead by example make her a deserving recipient of this award.

Play Passion Purpose

Ait is the heartbeat of our learning journey.
Purposeful Learning invites our students to make meaningful connections, applying knowledge beyond the classroom walls and into real-world contexts. Every lesson is a stepping stone, showing students that what they learn today shapes the person they will be tomorrow.
Active Engagement sparks a sense of wonder and ignites passion for exploration. Whether in the classroom, the library or through hands-on experiences, our students are encouraged to dive deep, ask questions and discover joy in the process of learning.
Youthful Curiosity reminds us that learning thrives when students participate with enthusiasm and take initiative. From experimenting with new ideas to embracing challenges with a smile, their curiosity becomes the compass that guides them towards growth and discovery.
Together, these pillars of PLAY shape an environment where every learner is inspired to stretch their minds, open their hearts and unlock endless possibilities.

At Lianhua, our students are inventors, creators, and problem solvers. Through the Design Thinking model, they immerse themselves in handson learning- empathising with realworld challenges, brainstorming creative solutions, prototyping ideas, and refining them through testing and feedback. With lessons suspended for the week, students fully dive into a dynamic, exploratory environment that nurtures creativity, adaptability, and resilience.
Rooted in our P.L.A.Y. approach (Purposeful Learning, Active Engagement, and Youthful Curiosity), Innovation Week strengthens key 21st-century competencies such as collaboration, critical thinking, and a growth mindset. Students learn to see challenges and even failures as stepping stones to success, equipping them to thrive in today’s fast-evolving world.

As part of VIA, students put their learning into action through three simple steps:
1
Be Kind to yourself and others
- Say “please” and “thank you”
- Help a friend who is sad
- Take a break when you feel tired
2
Work Together with others and for others
- Take turns during group games
- Share your materials
- Listen when your friend is speaking
3
Use What You Learn to care for the environment and your community
- Recycle plastic bottles after learning about waste
- Plant a seed after learning about plants
- Save water after learning why it matters
- Teach your family to turn off lights to save energy

Each level explored sustainability through meaningful activities:

To enrich the experience, we invited guest speakers from:
Meta
Dyson Stick'em (founded by our very own alumnus, Mr Huh Dam).

Students gained valuable insights into how innovation is applied in real life from cutting-edge technology to sustainable product design and social entrepreneurship.
Fun fact:

Stick’em, co-founded by our exLianhua student, Mr Huh Dam, recently won the Hult Prize (often referred to as the “ Nobel Prize for Students ”), a global challenge that empowers young entrepreneurs to solve pressing social issues through social enterprises.
We hope that our ex-student’s journey will inspire our students to dream big and pursue their passions with courage. By cultivating resourcefulness, bold thinking, and empathy, our pupils will grow to become not just consumers of knowledge but creators of possibilities, shaping a sustainable future filled with boundless opportunities.

At Lianhua Primary School, Eco Ville brought learning to life through play, exploration, and curiosity. This vibrant outdoor classroom featured eight hands-on stations, including the Spices & Herbs Garden, Eco Pond and Butterfly Garden. Through the YES! Programme (Young Exploring Scientists), students engaged in gardening games, butterfly quests, and eco challenges during recess. The Superhero Science Quest excited Primary 3 to 6 students with fun, inquiry-based missions. At Eco Ville, students learned by doing—growing into passionate learners and responsible stewards of the Earth.

Two Shining Artz Celebration was a vibrant showcase of our students’ talents, marking the culmination of their hard work in Music and Art lessons. The Visual Art Exhibition featured a range of creations, from two-dimensional drawings to three-dimensional sculptures, highlighting students’ artistic achievements. Presenting

their work to parents helped build confidence and communication skills. The music showcase allowed students to perform on stage, reinforcing the values of diligence, resilience and unity. This celebration not only nurtured creativity but also instilled positive values, leaving a lasting impact on our young learners.

"Shining Artz was so fun! It is a good memory and I will treasure it forever! I still remember my Primary One Shining Arts, but Primary Two is more special as it is our last time doing the Shining Arts. The singing, dancing and showing my artwork to my parents…"
Alvarez Samantha Ysabelle Dela Cruz (2R5)

"I remember dancing to Chan Mali Chan. It was my first time performing with my class and I thought we were quite wonderful memory. I had fun even though I made some mistakes with the steps.
I felt proud when I showed my artwork to my parents. I did clay art and made a clown fish, a koala and a caterpillar."
Dhyan Ajith (1D5)
At Lianhua Primary School, our ALP equips students with 21stcentury skills through handson, play-based STEM learning focused on sustainability. The programme builds creativity, critical thinking and resilience. P1 and P2 students develop computational thinking using Kubo robots. In P3 and P4, students collaborate and solve problems through Minecraft Education. By P5, they use Micro:bit to create real-world applications. ALP nurtures a love for learning and prepares students to be confident, future-ready innovators.

Following the publication of《童心》 , the highly anticipated Meet-the-LittleAuthor session captivated both our budding authors and their peers. Stepping into the role of storytellers, students confidently presented their creations and responded to questions from the audience. In exploring various modes of presentation, they honed their public

speaking skills and developed greater selfassurance. Meanwhile, audience members gained valuable insights and inspiration from their peers’ sharing. This enriching experience nurtured curiosity, encouraged active engagement and ignited a passion for storytelling and self-expression among our young learners.

What makes a child curious, excited, and eager to learn? What sparks a child’s imagination? Passion !
At Lianhua, the Passion Project is designed to help students explore and pursue their dreams and interests. As part of our Education and Career Guidance (ECG) experience, the project encourages every student to discover, explore and develop their personal interests - turning sparks of curiosity into meaningful learning experiences.
Every project begins with a student’s unique spark of interest. Along the way, they discover valuable life skills such as resilience, self-discipline, and self-motivation. Over the June holidays, students worked on their projects independently, with many choosing to express their learning through creative videos.
lessons. Through short, student-produced videos, they offered personal glimpses into the hobbies and interests that bring them joy and meaning. Watching these videos was both heartwarming and inspiring. From sports and music to art, science and beyond, the range of passions was as diverse as the students themselves.
Each video reflected the unique flair and voice of its creator, making it no easy task for teachers and peers to select just two outstanding entries per class - one for “ Most Inspiring ” and another for “ Most Passionate .”
In Term 3, classrooms came alive with creativity and enthusiasm as students took part in the Passion Showcase during FTGP
Beyond the videos, some students also presented their passion projects live in class. These presentations gave them the opportunity to speak confidently about what they had learned, building their public speaking skills while fostering a supportive environment where classmates listened, encouraged and celebrated one another’s

For our upper primary students, the Passion Project journey goes beyond personal discovery - it also connects their passions to real-world possibilities. Students begin to see how their interests can shape future pathways and link to the world of work.
The Passion Project reminds us that every child has something meaningful to explore. When given the space, encouragement and support to pursue their passions, they grow in ways that extend far beyond the classroom. It is this blend of self-discovery and futurethinking that helps shape them into self-directed, future-ready learnersprepared not just for school, but for life.

Once a Lianhuarean, Always a Lianhuarean
What a joy it was to welcome our Lianhuareans back! We are so proud to see how much they have grown - not just in height (some now towering over us!) but into young men and women who carry themselves with poise, gratitude and respect.
Homecoming was a beautiful reminder that the Lianhua spirit runs strong across generations. Every handshake, hug and smile reflected the bonds that make our school a family.

Our hearts swelled with pride as we saw our alumni return with warmth and fond memories. Truly, once a Lianhuarean, always a Lianhuarean!

This year, our dedicated teachers participated in a dynamic series of workshops centered around Six Bricks—a play-based learning approach using brightly coloured DUPLO® bricks. Designed to develop core skills in a fun and engaging way, Six Bricks has become a powerful tool in our classrooms.
The workshops focused on using these simple bricks to boost executive functioning skills— such as working memory, self-regulation, and cognitive flexibility—alongside key areas like problem-solving, collaboration, and focus. Teachers explored creative, hands-on activities that help students plan, remember instructions, shift between tasks, and control impulses—all essential skills for lifelong learning.
From the very first session, our teachers embraced the approach with enthusiasm, integrating it into daily lessons across subjects. The response from students has been encouraging—they’re more engaged, attentive, and eager to learn.

L"My journey as a young journalist has been joyful and inspiring. Interviewing others taught me to understand their feelings and perspectives. To me, journalism is more than writing - it’s about giving voice to others and expressing their stories with empathy and clarity."
Sriram Divya Kriya (5U5)

i anhua Primary School’s Young Journalist Programme embodies the spirit of play, making learning interactive and enjoyable. It provides a unique opportunity for students to develop writing and presentation skills through three exciting parts: conducting interviews, broadcasting live on Lianhua FM and contributing to Lianhua Pulse. Like play, it fosters creativity, collaboration and communication, helping students explore, express and share ideas dynamically. These experiences build confidence, adaptability and teamwork, making learning meaningful. By blending structured learning with playful exploration, the programme nurtures self-expression and curiosity, proving that play is a powerful tool for growth and communication.

Being a Young Journalist has been an exciting and meaningful experience. I learnt that writing is about listening and sharing others’ stories with kindness. Interviewing people during Racial Harmony Day taught me to respect and appreciate different races and cultures. I’m proud to give others a voice through my writing.
Sofea Binte Shah Azhar (4I4)

Lianhua Primary School’s Art Club joined 2,000 students from eight schools to co-create art installations for Chingay Parade 2025, in collaboration with the People’s Association’s Community Arts & Culture Club under the National Education Programme. Guided by artist Jess Leong, our students honed their teamwork, creativity and critical thinking as they brought to life Joyous Savour –The Edible Art Garden, a vibrant “Food Wonderland” that celebrated Singaporean cuisine and cultural joy. Displayed at the F1 Pit Building, the installation was honoured with the Visitor’s Favourite Art Installation Award. We are proud to have played a part in this joyful celebration of culture and community.

On 2 March 2025, Lianhua Primary proudly participated in Chingay @ Heartlands (Chua Chu Kang GRC & Hong Kah North SMC), forming our first-ever contingent of Indian Dancers, Scouts, and teachers. Our dancers dazzled the crowd with “Dance of Joy,” while Scouts marched proudly in a celebration of culture and community. The night featured Bukit Gombak’s first-ever drone show, launched from our school field in a stunning fusion of technology and art. Our Art Club students also presented “Joyous Savour – The Edible Art Garden” to distinguished guests, including DPM Mr. Gan Kim Yong. It was a proud and purposeful experience, celebrating student voice, creativity and community spirit

During the last week of Term 2, 26
Primary 5 students embarked on a 3-night cultural trip to Chiang Mai—an unforgettable learning adventure.
T hey visited both a local Thai school and an international school making new friends, as well as gaining insights into different school and cultural experiences. At the Elephant PooPooPaper Park, they explored creative recycling and learned about sustainability. When the sun went down, the students dove into the vibrant night market, honing their bargaining skills and collecting unique souvenirs.

Ahighlight was crafting their own umbrellas at the Bo Sang umbrella factory. Inspired by a visit to a cultural centre the day before, they added personal touches that blended Thai and Singaporean influences.

A big cheer and a loud “thank you!” to everyone who helped make this yearbook possible! From our Principal and Vice-Principals who guided us with vision, to our teachers and staff who supported us with care and passion, your encouragement made every page shine. A heartfelt thanks to our student contributors, who poured in their creativity and effort to preserve the moments that made this year unforgettable. We, the editorial team, had so much fun sprinkling creativity, colour and cheer into every page. We’ve worked to capture the true spirit of our school through snapshots and stories that will make you smile. This yearbook is more than just pages - it’s a treasure chest of memories, laughter and the PLAY-ful adventures we shared together!
