Spotlight Story

I.M.C. A New Bre

by: ava jhamin

eed of Designer

It's rather interesting how I met Ise, as I call her, or for those that may not know her, Iseult McPherson. I was asked to meet with a designer and do some work for her and that’s when I met Ise, who was one of her managers at the time. There were some business aspects of this designer I didn't care for, but I knew Ise was someone I would know forever. We had a ton in common, especially our faith and I adore everything about this woman.

fit! I loved twirling in system layers, wearing different shoes, almost all of which made our feet look squished as a Geisha’s. Eventually, I discovered the music scene and live singers. There are a

I sat down with Ise to find out about her store which she calls I.M.C. and to see what Ise sees as her future on Second Life. Ava: Hi Ise, thank you for sitting down with me today. How did Ise come to live in the wonderful world of Second Life? Ise: You’re welcome Ava! I had read about SL and heard a few colleagues discussing it, especially the potential for what we now call "online learning” and I just had to check it out. That was almost 12 years ago. Ava: What did you do when you first came to Second Life? Ise: I learned to walk. Seriously! That was such a challenge. I explored, enjoyed time in an RP sim, which at that time, there were only six or seven. And the shopping! Everything

few I still follow. I had the pleasure of hosting at the Sable Club (Max Butoh), back when live music was performed there, at least 3 times per week and DJs maybe two to three. I spent over a year doing that and loved it. I loved dressing in gowns, flapper dresses,

shopping for hairpieces/hats. I also made some dear friends there, one who I ended up hosting for when she DJ'd and rented land next to. I also met, who I consider to be the best landlord in SL, Mckindred Mckinnan. I had an all-around belly laughing

pay ofc," she said. I gleefully typed "OH! Do I get the blogger boxes?" You see, my DJ friend was getting blogger boxes, as she DJ'd Liv-Glam's style shows and other events. Miss Jones laughed at me and said, "Gurl, you've got a lot to learn! And yes, you get the blogger boxes in addition to a salary." Thus my introduction to fashion. I confess, I know many who have their opinions about Miss Jones, but without her willingness to teach me all she did, I don't know that I would have ventured into fashion design. Eventually, we did part ways and I went on to work for a few others, most notably, Penumbra the fashion agency owned by Zzoie. Zzoie also re-opened her brand while I was with her, Zanze. She introduced me to Photoshop and the basics of a PSD. While I was with Miss Jones, I had the pleasure of meeting and working with Olyvia Decuir and Aisha Convair. Both intelligent women who are passionate about their businesses.

I ended up being the manager for Designer Showcase for blast. By sheer happenstance, this 3 years, again, learning much and DJ introduced me to someone who laughing often. Aisha is a woman with would drastically change my future, a wealth of knowledge. These four Miss Samantha Jones of Liv-Glam. To make a long story short, Miss Jones women combined, Miss Jones, Zzoie, Olyvia Decuir, and Miss Aisha Convair was gracious enough to offer me a provided me with the equivalent of job as her personal assistant, "with L’Amour Diversity Magazine | Issue 26, October 2019

an MBA in fashion. I will always be grateful to each one of them. Ava: How long have you been designing the amazing styles of I.M.C.? Ise: You are too kind, thank you for the compliment. I opened my store on March 18, 2017. I've learned a great deal by "doing"...being unafraid to make mistakes, taking notes when another designer is willing to share how they did something. So, to answer, almost two and a half years. Ava: Ise, did you learn to design in the arena of mesh, or did you start with prims and system first? Ise: I cut my teeth on mesh templates and still use them. However, I spend a lot of time thinking about contemporary fashion trends and how to create those. My goal is to always have a product that is customer appreciated and looks unique. Ava: Can you tell the readers of Diversity what inspires your designs for I.M.C.? Ise: Oh gosh, Bohemian style, Audrey Hepburn and Jackie Kennedy Onassis' styles, current fashion trends, which sometimes inspire me as what *not* to design, suggestions from friends, old sewing patterns, a billboard advertisement at the mall. I believe the world is a piece of art, why not use it for inspiration? Ava: Do you Ise have a favorite genre to design?

Ise: Bohemian and the classic, feminine lines of the 50s as worn by Audrey Hepburn and Jackie O. Ava: I know my favorite of all time was the Michelle Jeans and the Ava Dress. Do you have an all-time favorite? Ise: Thank you, Ava...so glad you like those. My "favorite" is a customer messaging me 'out of the blue' excitedly carrying on about something they bought of mine. Ava: What other passions do you have in SL, besides your obvious love of fashion? Ise: Building and decorating, meeting people from all different places, the music venues and my inner circle of women friends--they are truly the bee’s knees. Ava: I would like for our readers to get to know the wonderful lady behind the brand. Can you tell our readers 3 things they might not know about you? Ise: I lost the finest man, my “John Wayne,” two years ago; my dad. I miss him every day. Aisha Convair and I went through that grieving process together, she lost her father a few months after I lost mine. I *love* jewelry, and I build and do decor on the side. Ava: Obviously we all know you love your brand. But is there another designer that you love to wear?

Ise: This is a dangerous question. I would never wish to offend fellow designers who I admire. That being said, I will name three: Ison, Just Because and Kaithleen's. Thank you, Ise, for letting the readers get to know a bit about you, and even more about your brand. And I will end this one with what I say to Ise all the time, I love you and God Bless......

ar Journey"

I went on a date to Star Journey and I had a blast, checking it all out and doing all the different things they have for you to be interactive with on the sim. I wanted to share it with the readers of L'Amour Diversity because it was just a very cool, zen place. I sat down with Mystar Merlin, the Estate Manager for the amazing Star Journey and went right to the questions. Ava: How did you first come to Second Life? Mystar: This was about 12 years ago! I first came to Second Life after hearing about its educational possibilities at the university where I worked at the time. I thought it had the potential to reach people all over the world and provide opportunities for many forms of education, from formal classes to informal learning experiences. The ability to group with others who share common interests was also intriguing. Ava: Tell the Readers what you did when you first entered SL?

educational space that is still here to this day! Ava: What are some of the things that you like to do on Second Life? Mystar: I enjoy creating and building, designing sims and educational experiences, being involved in educational outreach for Star Journey, and helping with charities such as Relay for Life. In 2008, Richard's (Starman Heron) third book was published. At the same time, the first website for Star Journey was launched and the interactive format here in Second Life was founded. Ava: Do you have any idea how long it took to build Star Journey? Mystar: Star Journey was built to be a virtual, interactive reflection of the Star Journey tool for intuition and book. It has been added to and updated by many people over the years, most notably Rebelmum Slade who created the first iteration, Fuschia Nightfire, who built the Stars Dance club and the Star Energies area and SL designer Luna Bliss, who built the beautiful garden area on the ground level. Many other contributors have also added to our sim over the years, including artists on our gallery level.

Mystar: The very first thing I did was to take the tutorial and spend some time learning how to use SL, then I fixed my appearance. Then, I just explored everywhere I could go, including educational spaces, historical role play areas, art exhibits, Ava: Can you tell the readers of and concerts. I was amazed at all the creativity and possibilities here! I L'Amour Diversity, How you run Star remember one of the very first places Journey daily? I saw was Renaissance Island, an

Mystar: The growth we see is something that will complement the virtual presence here in SL. Richard is seeking a new national publisher for Star Journeys physical card set. I hope that all the readers go over to Star Journey and take in this most beautiful experience that Richard Geer has created and Mystar Merlin keeps running in its glory. What Are You Afraid O

Of? October Simsploring

By: Nani Xue

This is the time of year when the temperatures drop, the leaves begin to fall, and harvests happen. It is also a great time of year to explore some dark and creepy haunts, if you are into that kind of thing that is. But really, who isn't? Fear is one of the best motivators that there is. Sometimes we find sides of ourselves and strengths we didn't know we had when something frightens us to our core. I have been saving these two locations for a while now because they could really fit into multiple categories, free-form roleplay sims. Wonderful photography locations in every corner. Then of course dark and foreboding with a little something for everyone along the way. There is a whole series of sims by the same creator/owner Lauren Bentham. If you have the time, they are all worth looking into. When you land you are greeted with the Rules/Info card, Flashlight and the option to join the groups for a small fee so you can rez any goodies you may need for story or photography purposes. First location is Pendle Hill. This is from the actual sim card: Welcome to *Pendle Hill* --------------------------------For The Best Experience Turn Up Your Sound :) -----------------------------------------------------NOTE: Pendle Hill is a permanent sim build open all year round, not just for Halloween ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Pendle Hill is a fictional sim created from my imagination, but the name Pendle Hill is a real place east of Lancashire in the north of England and is linked to the Pendle witch trials of 1612. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Many things represented within this experience speak for themselves, but there are multiple kinds of Ruins. Half sunken ships, and Rickety old possibly abandoned houses. Each path leads you to a new fright or delight depending on your taste. We highly recommend you trick or treat yourself to a visit this spooky season.

Next up, in the mood for a different kind of frightful delight I headed to Everwinter Again, here are some factual details from their informational card you receive upon landing. Everwinter is fictional but inspired by The Abandoned Amusement Park in the real world city of Pripyat, it is only my vision and not an accurate representation of Pripyat or the Chernobyl disaster. Below are the facts about Pripyat and details about the 1986 Chernobyl disaster -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------The Pripyat amusement park in Pripyat, Ukraine is an abandoned amusement park. It was to be opened on May 1, 1986 in time for the May Day celebrations (decorations for this event are still in place in Pripyat today) but the plans were interrupted when on April 26 the Chernobyl disaster occurred a few kilometers away. The park was opened for a couple of hours on April 27 to keep the city people entertained before the announcement to evacuate the city was made. Today, the park, and the Ferris wheel are a symbol of the Chernobyl disaster. The amusement park itself is located behind the Palace of Culture in the center of the city. The audio message you can hear in Russian as you enter Everwinter is the actual recording of the evacuation message played to the city of Pripyat following the nuclear disaster at Chernobyl The evacuation of Pripyat took place the day after the disaster on the afternoon of April 27, 1986. The evacuation of Pripyat's 43,000 residents took 3.5 hours, using 1,100 buses from Kiev. The inhabitants were allowed to take only necessary items with them, as they were to return in three days. This information was released to avoid panic and to stop people taking too much luggage with them. Later, the authorities decided that the city must remain empty forever. Based on records now available, some 985,000 people died, mainly of cancer, as a result of the Chernobyl accident. That is between when the accident

Eddie Money Found His Tickets to Paradise By: Ava Jhamin

Edward Joseph Mahoney was born into a large Irish Catholic family in Brooklyn. His parents were Dorothy and Daniel Mahoney. He grew up on Long Island and as his grandfather, dad, and brother were all New York City Police officers. He left after a few years to pursue music and in 1968 moved to California.

made the charts with such hits as "Baby Hold On" and "Two Tickets to Paradise". Money took advantage of the MTV music video scene in the early 80s. with his humorous narrative videos for "Think I'm in Love" and "Shaken“. He had a decline as he had issues with drugs.

But in 1986 made a comeback and After moving to Berkeley, California, returned to the mainstream rock Eddie Money became a regular at city spotlight with the album Can't Hold clubs. He secured a recording contract Back. "Take Me Home Tonight", a with Columbia Records in 1970 and duet with Ronnie Spector, "I Wanna

Go Back" reached number 14, and "Endless Nights" peaked at number 21 Can't Hold Back was certified platinum. Money followed that album with Nothing to Lose (1988). That album featured the Top 10 hit "Walk on Water" (1988) and the Top 40 hit "The Love in Your Eyes" (1989). Health issues forced Money to cancel his summer tour in July 2019. He had developed pneumonia while recovering from heart valve surgery. While planning to hit the road later that year, he was diagnosed with

stage 4 esophageal cancer during what he thought was a "routine checkup". Money died on September 13, 2019. I know how much this music meant to me in my life. Going down to San Diego for over the line tournaments, which was a three-hour drive would have never been the same if I didn't listen to Eddie Money. He pumped me up and got me going to have great tournaments. I know you found your "Ticket to Paradise".

The next staffer is Jude Tatham. Jude went through classes 101 -106 at L'Amour University of Fashion. She quickly just fit in and was given the duty of COO of L'Amour Pazzo Style Challenge along with Nani Xue. They both are doing an incredible job,

The newest endeavor of Jude is the position of COO of L'Amour University of Fashion. This is a position that has been empty since Hezabel Blackheart left. This is not an easy position to fill as the COO will be completely in charge of getting new students,

training them, putting on graduation shows and a myriad of other duties. Jude will be teaching 101-107 to all the new students of L'Amour. She is not only amazingly qualified for the position but is very easy peasy to work with. I am proud to not only call this woman a friend, but also a colleague. So, sit down and get to know our very own Jude Tatham COO of L'Amour University of Fashion and COO of Pazzo Style Challenge. Ava: How did you find the beautiful amazing world of SL? Jude.: You know it has been sooooo long since I joined SL that I don't know exactly how. I think it was in its up and coming period and had been around a couple of years. I was single and a gamer and was curious about the place, so I created a profile and the rest is virtual history. Ava: How long have you been in Second Life Jude? Jude: Too long! I joined way back on the 10th March 2007 with this avatar.

Ava: Can you tell the readers of SL a little bit about who you are and your history on SL? Jude.: I am a worker in SL, first and foremost. I have always had a need to keep busy whilst inworld and feel a tad lost when I don't have a project on the go. Right now, I am modeling, producing and directing shows, running fashion contests, writing for Diversity, I am hosting shows both in text and voice and now I am teaching. I need a holiday! I have a handful of gorgeous friends who are supportive, fun and incredibly kind. I appreciate the faith they have in me and I just hope I am worthy of them. Ava: You have been through all the courses at L'Amour, are you excited to now be teaching for L'Amour University of Fashion? Jude: I am incredibly excited! Sharing what I have learned and helping others to find their path in modeling is incredibly exciting. I am so touched that Ava has faith in me to do this job and I look forward to working with people from all walks of life.

Ava: What are some of the things that Ava: Can you tell the readers your plans if you know, for the L'Amour you liked to do on Second Life when University of Fashion? you first came? Jude: When I first came to SL, it seemed to be all about sex and roleplay, so I dabbled in both! I did the whole dancer, stripper, escort stuff and realized it wasn't for me and then I stumbled on Avillion, a beautiful medieval/fantasy sim and I started going there and roleplaying.

Jude: The curriculum that you developed, Ava, is tried and tested and I believe that if it ain't broke, don't fix it! What I do hope to bring to the University is a fresh approach, to share my adventures in modeling and to use my own experience at L'Amour to create worthwhile and rewarding

classes for all our students. Ava: Can you give people who might be interested in coming to school at L'Amour University your background as a model? Jude: My modelling journey started way back in 2012 where I graduated from MPI model management. On the back of this I was part of a Model’s Workshop show and a store model at LaVian. I stepped away from modelling after around 8 months due to RL, but when I came back to SL after a brief hiatus in 2017, I decided that I wanted to get back into this fashion game. But things had changed since 2012 and with the introduction of mesh I was certainly on the back-foot.

Modelling Agency and continue to model when I can. Although I would consider myself highly experienced, I do believe with this ever-changing game, there is always something to learn and room to grow. Thank you, Jude, for sitting down with me so the readers of Diversity can get to know you a bit, and see how truly amazing and what an asset you will be and have been to L'Amour.

I enrolled in Catwalk Model Agency and spent two months learning from Vichonette Constantine, a successful model, teacher and pose maker in SL. A few months later I found myself at L'Amour and in the more than capable hands of Ava Jhamin, after the school had been highly recommended by a few friends. Since graduating from L'Amour I have walked in several shows including Catwalk’s Carnival of Darkness, Trunk Show and Babylon Berlin presents United Colors with Madd Modelz, plus several shows for L'Amour productions. I have also written scripts for several fashion shows, organized and directed shows and contests and now have become COO of Pazzo Style Challenge. I have also become COO of HC Productions &

Models Giving Back was founded in October of 2012 by Jamee Sandalwood after a previous agency dedicated to charity work was forced to close due to the owner leaving SecondLife. Jamee felt the work that was being done needed to be continued and set out to lead the models that were already a part of the former agency into new and bigger endeavors at the newly created Models Giving Back. To date the agency has partnered with dozens of designers and provided models for runway, print and other functions that support charities around SL. Rock Your Rack is the creation of Jamee Sandalwood and is owned exclusively by Models Giving Back in SecondLife. She was diagnosed with breast cancer in 1980 at the age of 34. At the time of her diagnosis, there was little information about the disease, and she was forced to make a decision about her health with few options. After her treatment, Janelle made a commitment to help women around the world by educating them about breast cancer and the importance of early detection. NBCF’s mission is to save lives through early detection and to provide mammograms for those in need. This mission includes increasing awareness through education, providing diagnostic breast care services for those in need, and providing nurturing support services.

8th Pazzo Style Challenge round was Brice Meda, Lily Cross, Vickie Maidstone, and Sagia. All four contestants had modeling experience and were all extremely creative in their ideas with some nailing the theme perfectly. Even our judges and show directors got in the spirit and dressed up. Our host, Nani Xue looked wonderful with panties on her head and our judges were huddled together in a laundry basket, as they watched each contestant carefully walk our laundromat runway. Judges this round were Vichonette Constantine, Ali Reignn and Hadley Carrington. Our very own Ava Jhamin was our official photographer, with Jude Tatham directing our contestants on and off the stage, plus providing some soapy pop music for our audience to enjoy. After a tough debate over scores, Brice Meda was crowned the 48th Pazzo Style Contest Winner and received a 1,000 Linden gift card from Chop Zuey and 1,000 Linden gift card from Bakaboo, our generous sponsors for this round.

Do join us in October for our special Halloween Pazzo and who knows, perhaps you will be crowned the 49th Pazzo winner.

There's a new Production and Modeling Agency in town! By: HadleyCarrington

I thought of starting a production company soon after I graduated from L'Amour's class in producing/directing. I had worked on a show before, but I don't think I was ready for another show until learning and expanding from school. My graduation was called "SPLASH!" as in a SPLASH of color with the amazing opportunity to use my favorite two designers, Azoury by Mayhem and Aniki Seetan and Zibska by Zib Scaggs. They were all SO generous with my requests for the show.

or anxious. I had a total blast coordinating with the designers to get all the looks together. I knew I wanted to open a production company and now that I have several under my belt, and feel more comfortable I am excited about taking on such a challenge!

I'm not sure where the model agency jumped in my head, but I've always wanted to be able to help other models have as many opportunities as possible. I always believe there are new things to learn that can The owners of Azoury allowed me benefit your career! With my new production company, I have all types to find any items they sell including some pretty wonderfully Avant of things planned for my HC Top Guarde things which went great with Models...things like bimonthly shows the Zibska outfits. It was a huge task or contests, workshops on topics to take on, but I learned a lot through like posing, styling, etc, personal both experience and education. I help and much more! I think a lot of models will love all these options for didn't really feel overwhelmed

assistance and experience. I always believe there are new things to learn that can benefit your career! Also, we have several types of models you don't see that often in the industry, we have an elf model, an albino model, an androgynous model, etc...We really want to give our models opportunities in taking out their creativity for our shows! However, I want to make it clear that HC Productions is not a modeling school. Models should come to us knowing most of the basics at least. We will be holding seminars, but we are NOT a school...yet. The first thing I did to begin the company was to somewhat forcefully hire my best friend, Jude Tatham as my COO. She’s definitely “da bomb” at almost everything! Also, she’s extremely reliable and I totally trust her taking over if there’s something keeping me away. Without her, I

wouldn’t be where I am now! After I twisted her arm a little, she agreed to sign on and that started all the grand ideas! Jude and I don't have the same vision for styling outfits, but when I picture something in my mind, I put it into words and Jude knows exactly what I'm talking about and can usually help me make it happen. Next, I had to buy some land to keep the agency and model platform and to have a spot for the models to practice and/or visit the agency. That's a pretty penny on rent, but it is something I need! Having done that, we started to look in Jude’s inventory for spare buildings. The first one she pulled out was an industrial loft that I was crazy about, so we were off and running! Then, I brought Matt (MTH63), to be our official runway photographer and now, the team is pretty much

together! So, we began working on the agency for the grand opening party! It was a great time putting up all the decorations and a lot of the guests including models, friends and fashionistas stayed after the party! I DID take up the sushi and champagne I had set out for the others. It’s in the fridge for another party. The party was a complete success with 22 in attendance at one point. Everybody was dressed to the nines, and we had a lot of fun dancing, chatting and getting to know one another. Many of HC Top Models were in attendance, and even my mentor de jour, Ava Jhamin herself was there! After the party was over, and after the cleanup, Jude and I ran face-first into the agency and had our first privately held show and the models looked great! Our next plan is another casting, and

130

THEN, we’ll have our first open to the public show with some models you might not have seen before. When you remember, you’re going to think…”Wow! What a show, and who were some of those models?” I'm not just confident, I have directing and producing skills, and I can't wait until you see these models... just you wait! Oh, and we're going to break some rules, too! Renegade models is what we're going to have. That's the only clue you get! You'll have to wait until you see those notices, applications, and invitations. You'll want to see this....more information to follow! Side Note from Ava Jhamin, CEO of L'Amour Productions: "I support

Hadley 100% as a Director and Producer. She is a creative genius and as I trained her, I know she has the knowledge and the chutzpah to do a show for any designer around which she chooses to produce a show. I personally want to congratulate Hadley and all her team. I support all the HC Productions shows she does in Second Life.

Sometimes you have a friendship with someone that is just an undeniable connection. This is the friendship I have with Mika Palmyra. I have great respect and awe for both Mika and Parisian Skytower. I was so happy to be asked again to come judge both pictures and competition this year, I enjoy doing this one so very much.

134

The winner for the ladies, Quinte, stole my heart and I was very excited to work with her. I could feel to my soul the dedication and love she has of the Luxe Paris brand. I sat down with Quinte and I was right about this one, she eats, sleeps and plays in the Luxe Paris brand. I went right to all the questions I was dying to

ask Quinte. Understand also, readers of L'Amour Diversity, that Quinte was not a model before entering this competition. I would say, “watch out grid, she sure as heck is one now.” Quinte is from China and came to the United States to work and we are pleased to have her in the United States and in Second Life.

Ava: What was the hardest part of being in LUXE Paris Look of The Year 2019? Quinte: The hardest part for me was to learn very fast to walk and pose like the other models. Ava: What was the hardest style competition for you?

Quinte: I think the hardest style competition was swimsuit.

Quinte: The first time any contest for me was good.

Ava: Did you meet a lot of new friends Thank you, Quinte for taking the time throughout the competition? out of your busy Luxe Paris life and sitting down with me. And for the Quinte: I met some very nice people readers of Diversity in Second Life, keep an eye out for the next Luxe yes. Paris Look of the Year competition. Ava: What is your overall impression of the LUXE Paris Look of The Year Competition? Quinte: I think it is a good competition and good opportunity for everybody. Ava: Did you have fun coming up with stylings and working with the themes for each challenge? Quinte: Yes, I love fashion very much, so I dress a lot in fun clothes in real life and in Second Life. I dressed as I would in my real life, but with thought to keep Luxe Paris and always kept the focal point of the brand in Second Life. Ava: What advice would you give to someone that was going to do LUXE Paris Look of The Year? Quinte: To just do it, if you like fashion. Maybe try and get help from models you may know in SL to teach how to walk and pose. Take good pictures. Ava: How did you like doing a competition with both men and women?
