ll registered motor-vehicle traders could have offshore listings on Trade Me if a pilot scheme is a success and there is a demand for such a service. New Zealand’s biggest online marketplace says it will look into how the trial it launched on January 24 could be expanded if there’s enough demand from car dealers and consumers for it to be warranted. The company launched its trial for 200 listings of stock in Japan or the UK after trying out the idea last year. “If we see a genuine demand from buyers for these types of vehicles, we’ll be looking at how we can make this work for all of our dealers,” says Alan Clark, head of Trade Me Motors. “There are still a lot of things for us to work through before we could offer this to all dealers. We’re going to see how this trial goes and then look at what we do in future.”
