President REPORT
Hello Everyone
I hope the New Year is going well for you all. Our thoughts are with those that are being impacted by the severe weather conditions and flooding in the North and also with those that have missed out on much needed rain. It is hoped that everyone catches a break to more favourable conditions. Things have been very busy behind the scenes and heading into the new competition year I am getting feedback from members who are not aware of the changes that have been made regarding Committee Affiliation costs, Run Restrictions and Event Membership. So, I would ask you all to familiarise yourself with these changes and how this affects you as a member, so you are up to date. These details have been published in the magazine and failing that, I encourage contacting your councillors. To read the magazines, sign into your Campdraft One account, click on the magazine cover or scroll down to the Leader Board and click on one of the magazine front covers to open.
Nominations for positions on the Executive and Management committee are open and close 12pm Friday 21 February. The link to nomination forms can be found in a text which has been sent to all members on January 22, or can be found under Forms on the website. So, I would encourage any member who is passionate about the sport of campdrafting and who are
Daly R0bmd1963@gmail.com
Davison siobhan@campdraft.com.au
willing to donate their time, skills, and resources to nominate. If there are more nominations than positions available, there will be elections to determine the successful candidate.
The ACA is not just the management body, but is every member and as a member you are the ACA. When a large group of people with a common goal work together, great things can be accomplished. In my view if we take “them” and “us” out of the discussion, we can move then move forward as a group for the benefit of the sport.
It is important to note that if you are wanting to take advantage of the Event membership (previously known as Day membership), you need to contact the ACA Office as soon as possible and register as a casual member. This will then allow you to nominate at any ACA affiliated draft when you choose to, however you will not be required to pay your event membership until your nominations have been accepted at a draft.
I would also like to personally thank everybody involved from the Executive, Management Committee, Office Staff, Committees and Members for their support and contributions in my role as Interim President.
Kind regards
Robert Daly President

Acting Vice President REPORT
Hello to ACA Members and Committees
I’ll start my report by thanking the Executive for the opportunity to be in an Acting Vice President role. I’m very excited for this chance to be a part of the leadership team for the ACA. This opening has come about through Sean Dillon’s resignation from the Management Committee, we all know the commitment and dedication Sean has had for the ACA and his contribution has been nothing short of remarkable. As most would be aware Sean, with a resounding result, was recently elected to Member for Gregory, in the Queensland Parliament. I wish him every success in this new chapter and offer this prediction – future Premier of Queensland closely followed by Deputy Prime Minister – You heard it here first! Again, congratulations Sean and best wishes for the future.
In November/December I was part of a team of ACA councillors in the New South Wales (NSW) area that organised a Novice Series run over four drafts, Glen Elgin, Red Range, Guyra finishing at Glen Innes. The Series
was very well received by members, committees and competitors. We thank the committees for being a part of this initiative and all competitors for their exemplary horsemanship and sportsmanship. The overall winner of our Series was the ever consistent Daniel Cheers riding Lealukas Brigalow, leading from the first draft to the last. Congratulations Daniel. It would be remiss of me not to mention the generous support from all our sponsors of this event and certainly look forward to partnering with them again this year. The Eastern NSW ACA Zone sees some eight drafts within a 200 kilometer radius. We are fortunate to have very generous cattle donors in this area, without whom our sport would not be possible.
In closing, good luck to the ACA Team competing in the National Campdraft Council of Australia Champion Rider event during the Nutrien Classic and good luck to all those competitors heading to the National Finals.
Safe Travels

Sponsors Sub Committee REPORT
Hi valued Members and Followers
Among Cattle Donors and Volunteers, our Sponsors are our sport’s greatest asset. The ACA is extremely lucky to have really great sponsors that support our horse and rider titles along with our affiliated committees.
An exciting new Sponsor that has come on board for the national Champion Maiden Rider Title is Jono Battle Equine Services. Jono travels all over Queensland and New South Wales specialising in muscle release therapy for humans and horses. We look forwards to working with Jono as his business grows and prospers in the coming years. The Jono Battle Equine Champion Maiden Rider title is always a close competition hotly contested with a different champion rider every year.
The ACA News going digital has expanded the exposure for our current Sponsors and has also attracted some new enquiries from businesses wanting to get involved with the ACA and campdrafting.
the ACA National Finals every year coming along to help out and support the host committee.
We appreciate all of our Sponsors and the contribution they make to the ACA and campdrafting. Sponsorship assists in helping businesses grow and network in the performance horse community.
If you would like to find out more about sponsorship opportunities, please contact the ACA Office Team and we will be happy to see what we can do for you.
Have a great year everyone and please try and support our ACA Sponsors.
Cheers
Dane Bateman Sponsors Sub Committee Chairperson
We still have a few exciting horse and rider titles available for naming rights for businesses looking for a different style of public attention. The Champion Sire's Progeny, Champion Master Rider and the all new Champion Open Lady Rider Title are up for grabs.
2025 marks a twenty five year relationship with Riverina Stockfeeds. Starting out with a small sponsorship position in 2000, Riverina has grown into one of our major Gold Sponsors with the Riverina Open Horse title and an iconic manufacturer of premier stock feeds for almost 100 years. We look forwards to our alliance with Riverina Stockfeeds as they celebrate their century milestone of being in business.
Terry Donohue and the team from Ariat Just Country have also been in it for the long haul spanning twenty seven years with the ACA. It's always great to see these guys at

Operations Manager REPORT
Hello Members and Committees
I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas and New Year. Unfortunately, it all goes too quick and we are now back in full swing for the new year. The first campdrafts of the year are taking place and we are quickly approaching the National Finals at Goondiwindi, Queensland.
Emily has conducted the first A Day With ACA training day for the 2025 financial year at Goondiwindi which has resulted in more Secretaries and Members trained up on the Campdraft One program. If you would like to run a training day in your Zone, please contact one of your Zone Councillors or Emily at the ACA Office. This a great opportunity to receive training in a non stressful environment instead of when you’re trying to run a draft.
Elections for Zone Councillors and the Executive of the Management Committee are coming with nominations closing midday on Friday 21 of February. If you wish to nominate, please go the ACA Website and download the nomination form.
The National Finals at Goondiwindi are fast approaching and Dane Bateman and his sub committee are working hard with the Goondiwindi Committee to ensure that they are getting all the support they need to run a successful Finals. Look for more on the Finals in the coming weeks.
I want to remind anyone who wants to take advantage of the Event Membership option that you need to contact the ACA Office Team and register as a Casual Member which will then allow you to nominate for any ACA affiliated draft which is accepting Event membership. You will not have to pay for your Event Membership until you have been accepted into a draft.
Finally, I was able to again spend an enjoyable week in the ACA Office this month getting to know the Office Team better and how the office operates. I was able to attend several sub committee meetings while I was there and see the great work that is being undertaken to move our Association forward.

Would you like to join the ACA Team as a Sponsor
If you’re interested in more information about becoming the Sponsor of the Champion Master Rider Competition, or the Champion Sire’s Progeny Competition, please contact the ACA Office Team on (07) 4622 3110 or aca@campdraft.com.au ACA’S COMPETITION TITLES ARE AN INTEGRAL PART OF THE ASSOCIATION, WITH A WEALTH OF HISTORY AND MEMORIES BEING BESTOWED THROUGHOUT EACH OF THEM.
The Champion Master Rider Competition is one of the Association’s longest running competition titles, having commenced in 1979, just seven years after ACA’s formation in 1972. The Champion Sire’s Progeny Competition joined the ACA Team in 1997, providing national recognition to ACA stallions and their progeny for the years to come. The Champion Open Lady Rider Competition is the newest ACA title, joining the team in the current 2024/25 Competition Season. This competition recognises the ladies who achieve highly in the Ariat Champion Open Rider Competition, as they receive points based off their results in the Open Rider Competition. It’s been an exciting year watching this competition debut in the Association, and ACA look forward to its future.
These Competition titles are all available for sponsorship for the 2025/26 Competition Season. ACA look forward to welcoming the new Sponsors to these competition titles and being part of the ACA Team.

Are
holding an ACA Judges Seminar?
An excerpt from the Judges Seminar Expression Of Interest Form
Can you please tell me about your childhood and where you grew up? I was raised on a family owned cattle station located just outside of Greenvale called ‘Conjuboy.’ I did my primary years of schooling at Greenvale State School and for high school I boarded at Blackheath and Thornburgh College in Charters Towers.
Judges Seminars are a service provided by the ACA as an introduction for members & future Judges, and to build confidence and give support to current ACA Judges. Judging Seminars are a tool that allows all Judges to be kept up to date with rules and rule changes.
What areas of ACA have you been involved in over the years as a Management Committee Councillor? I began as a part of the sub committee in the youth department than the sub committee of the code of conduct.
If your committee is interested in holding a Judges Seminar, the Expression of Interest Form can be found on the ACA Website or you can contact the ACA Office Team for one.
What is your occupation? Self employed doing contract mustering and fencing.
When you have completed the necessary sections, send it back to the Office Team. Your completed form will then be sent to the Judges Sub Committee for their consideration, after which it is sent to the Executive for their consideration. This is a great way to gain valuable knowledge and give back to the sport we love!
How did you become involved in campdrafting? As being part of a family owned business, I don’t remember a day where I wasn’t riding horses or chasing cows, it became natural instincts and a strong passion of mine. I kick started my campdrafting careers at seventeen years of age at Glen Gordon.
View the link below to access the ACA Judges Seminar Expression of Interest Form.
What has been one of your most memorable campdrafting moments over the years? Winning the Grandfather Clock at Chinchilla in 2019.
What changes have you seen occur in ACA throughout your time being involved in the group? That changes I have seen occur in ACA throughout my time being involved in the group is the considerations taken to grow with the sport and adapt and grow to the changing needs of our economy, making sure we don’t lose our core values and beliefs but still making sure that we are moving forward in the right direction. With that we have lost some members and committees although my hope for the near future is to regain these members and committees as well as maintain the passion and friendships that revolve around our sport.
https://www.campdraft.com.au/forms/
Can you please tell me about the first Management Committee Meeting that you attended? The first Management Committee Meeting I attended was held in Roma.
For more information about holding an ACA Judges Seminar, email the ACA Office Team at aca@campdraft.com.au or call the Team on (07) 4622 3110.
What do you find most rewarding about being part of the Management Committee? The most rewarding part would be able to give other members in my areas a voice at meetings as well as my own.

Keith and Margaret donated the ground to a small, hard working committee to host the inaugural Sports Day. Margaret was Secretary for many years, baked cakes for the canteen and always enjoyed sitting with the spectators watching the competitors go round. For many years since, the Glen Elgin Sports has been an event not to be missed amongst the locals. Margaret’s legacy lives on through her Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren still involved in the committee and competing on the grounds.

EASTERN NEW SOUTH WALES Novice Series 2024
We as ACA Management Committee Members, Tania Moorhead, James Moorhead and myself had discussed the concept of a Novice Series in our area for a little while now, we wanted to show our support of the local campdraft committees that have affiliated with the ACA and support the local ACA competitors with an incentive on top of their local run of campdrafts.
A conversation on the way to the 2024 Warwick Gold Cup and then again during week, it was decided, with a run of great campdrafts starting in mid November to early December, this was the year to start what we hoped would be a well received concept, we soon learnt the idea was going to be truly embraced by the overwhelming support shown to us by our participating committees, competitors and our very generous sponsors. We only had a short timeframe after approaching our participating committees, we wanted as many competitors to be involved as possible, which led to free entry for everyone competing at our participating campdrafts. The series works of first round scores only to form the aggregate and must be the same horse/rider combination throughout the entire series.
We kicked off with Round One of the Novice Series at Glen Elgin Campdraft on 9 & 10 November, where we seen some fantastic cattle in Novice A and Novice B generously donated by Daniel & Rachael Cheers, the McDougall Family and Robert & Jenny Thompson, and kindly judged Rodney McKinnon and Jon Templeton. At the completion of Round One we released the Top 20 Leaderboard, we seen a three way split Daniel Cheers with Lealukas Brigalow, Brent O’Donnell with Malua I Can Con & Kal Bruyn with Smart Little Chula all holding top position with 89 points. It was going to be interesting to see what progressed at our next event.
With Round Two at Red Range Campdraft held on 16 & 17 November. The Novice was kindly judged by Wyatt Young and a wonderful line of cattle generously donated by Stockyard, the Cooper Family and the Donnelly Family. With Round Two now done and dusted, Daniel Cheers and Lealukas Brigalow remained on top of the Top 20 Leaderboard but was joined by Wade McKinnon with Copycat, both with 176 points.
Round Three is where it all got exciting, hosted by Guyra Timepiece Campdraft on 22 – 24 November. At the completion of Round Three we still seen Daniel Cheers with Lealukas Brigalow and Wade McKinnon’s Copycat holding strong in first place now with 260 points, but Top 20 Leaderboard was definitely heating up with a couple of other combinations hotly contesting that top spot, Daniel Cheers with Lealukas Freedom in the mix at third position on 259, Anna Hoy’s Moore Hope now sitting in fourth place with a 254 and Brad Williamson with Delta’s Echo had stepped up into fifth place with 252 points. During Novice A and Novice B we seen an incredible line of cattle generously donated by Dan & Katrina McKemey and David & Michelle McKemey, and the Novices were kindly judged by Jackson Noon and Zac Croker. Bring on Round Four, at this point it was anyone’s game.
ACA Eastern New South Wales Novice Series 2024 Presentation – Daniel Cheers and Leaukas Brigalow, Ben Newbury and Adamslea Arna, Wade McKinnon and Copycat, Daniel Cheers and Lealukas Freedom, Anna Hoy and Moore Hope and Ryan Smyth and Lenard.
Glen Innes Campdraft was our last event for the series hosting Round Four on 6 – 8 December. A great line up of cattle generously donated by Clint & Krystle Nugent, Nugent Pastoral. These Novices were kindly judged by Robert Daly and Brad Williamson. The Top 20 Leaderboard changed up at this point of the competition, but Daniel Cheers with Lealukas Brigalow wasn’t letting his lead slip away, still sitting on top with 344, now taking out second spot was Brad Williamson’s Delta’s Echo on 336 points and Ben Newbury and Adamslea Arna following close in third position on 333 points. Wade McKinnon and Copycat rounded out the top four positions. The Glen Innes Committee generously offered the time and cattle to hold a final, which we jumped at the opportunity to add a bit more excitement to the Novice Series, so with that we took back in our top fifteen competitors. As the crowd gathered round the campyard to see what was about to unfold, it was the ACA President, Robert Daly, who had made the trip down from Roma in support of the Novice Series, who took the Judge’s position for the Final Round of the ACA Eastern New South Wales Novice Series. On the completion of the Final, we saw Daniel Cheers with Lealukas Brigalow on a 430 take out the win, in second place was Ben Newbury and Adamslea Arna on 412, third place went to Wade McKinnon on Copycat with a 368, in fourth place was Daniel Cheers and Lealukas Freedom with 366, fifth place was Anna Hoy and Moore Hope on 365 and rounding out our top six was Ryan Symth and Lenard on a 361.

This award is designed to help raise awareness on the mental health issues that people face within our campdraft family and the rural community in general. The award was judged throughout the Novice Series on horsemanship, consistently and sportsmanship, and judged by Kim Lynn, Kate Lynn and Graeme Finlayson. When the Final was complete, and judging came to an end we seen local Glen Innes competitor, Brad Newsome, take the honour of winning this truly special award. The award was proudly sponsored by the Foran Family and Lynn Family and Brad received a bridle kindly donated by the Lynn Family and Luke Petrie Saddlery.
We want to take this opportunity to say a huge thank you to all our extraordinary sponsors, our wonderful participating campdraft committees, the very generous cattle donors and judges throughout the series, we thank you again for embarking on this journey with us and we can’t wait to do it all again bigger and better in 2025.

ALPHA YOUTH CAMP Clinic
The Alpha Youth Camp Clinic 2025 was a fantastic opportunity for young riders to develop their skills and have fun. Our incredibly talented instructors did an amazing job passing down their skills to the next generation of drafters.
Jason Comiskey and Sean Dillon were able to share their expertise on ACA rules and campdrafting guidelines! Learning from experienced professionals is a huge benefit for the young riders.
Dr Brendan Brieffies attended the clinic to cover horse health and the importance of looking after the cattle. The health of the horse and cattle are such important topics, especially for our young riders learning to care for their animals properly.
Theresa Lansdowne focused predominantly on the dry work, having really made a big impact on the riders! Her support and individualised attention helped the young drafters build confidence and improve their skills.
Jaye Hall with all the knowledge and experience focused on outside work; having the chance to spend two days learning from such an accomplished rider and campdrafter is a real game changer for the young participants.
Brad Comiskey brought a wealth of knowledge and experience to the clinic, which was invaluable for the young drafters. His area of expertise was focused on the cut out work.
Overall, it can be seen that the thirty two participants were in great hands. The instructors truly made a lasting impact on the participants, and our gratitude speaks volumes
about the dedication and passion they brought to the clinic. Alongside the committee members whom supported the participants, turned back cattle and all the behind the scenes efforts.
While the days are long and hot in January, the bar is often a focal point. Committee members, Charlie and Shelly Charters, kept everyone refreshed and hydrated over the weekend.
Catering all weekend; Sandi & Lenny from Dust Devils Great Endeavour Rally whom went above and beyond to keep everyone well fed with delicious meals that kept the energy up for the riders and the team.
The cattle were donated by the Comiskey Family at ‘Portwine.’ Having good, kind cattle is so important for teaching the young riders and ensuring they have a positive and safe experience. The generosity of the Comiskey Family is greatly appreciated by everyone involved. A big thank you to Tony Comiskey, Jeff Clews, Peter Black, and Jason Comiskey for their hard work in transporting the cattle!
Having a water truck on hand made a huge difference in keeping the arena and surrounding areas manageable for both riders and spectators. A big thank you to Kim Ford for the dedication and effort on driving the water truck all weekend!
Participants and Instructors group photo.
A good old fashioned water fight was had as the perfect way to cool off and add some extra fun to the weekend. Theresa and some of the committee members took the Mini riders down to the creek for a picnic with poppas and Zooper Dooopers for a refreshing break. Finally, to top the weekend off, a Mini, Junior and Juvenile draft was held, seeing participants use their newly acquired skills in competition.

Jono specialises in Emmett Therapy and horsemanship, travelling across Australia conducting treatments and holding clinics. The ACA News recently interviewed Jono about his business and we have included it below.
Can you please tell me a little bit about yourself and your business, Jono Battle Equine Services? I grew up on my family’s cattle stations west of Charters Towers, Queensland. After finishing school, between working for Mum and Dad, contract mustering in Queensland and Northern Territory, I also broke in and trained horses, farriered on and off for ten years and been campdrafting from the age of eighteen. In 2020, through a set of circumstances, I was introduced to Emmett4Horses. After seeing the results, I went and began to study to become an Emmett Practitioner. In May 2021 I was hospitalised for three months with an infection in my leg and was told that my chance of walking again was very slim.
While being layed up, I continued studying and became an Emmett Practitioner for both, horses and humans. Start of 2024 I started my own business Jono Battle Equine Services. I specialise in soft touch muscle manipulation and red-light therapy for horses and humans.
In addition to offering Emmett Therapy services for humans and horses, your business also offers horsemanship clinics. Can you please tell me more about these services? I also offer Emmett4Horses workshops, Horsemanship clinics, Horse and Rider clinics and one on one horse riding lessons. The Horsemanship Clinics focus on foundations and fundamentals for all disciplines. The

Horse and Rider Clinics focus on the connection between horse and rider on all physical and emotional levels by using a combination of horsemanship and therapy techniques. We travel all over Queensland and New South Wales (other states on request), including cattle stations, feedlots, colleges, as well as equine, livestock and rural events.
What education and training do you have in Emmett Therapy and horsemanship? Being raised on cattle stations, working with and riding horses every day became an essential part of my life early on. Working with horses for over thirty years – breeding, breaking, training and retraining, farriering and spending months and months at
a time in the saddle contract mustering in Queensland and Northern Territory, have shaped me as a horseman. On top of that, I spent two years studying to become an Emmett Practitioner for horses and humans.
What does a day in your life look like? It depends on what I’m doing. I spend a lot of time travelling between places. If I’m not on the phone taking bookings or consulting with clients, I am driving or treating.
You travel across Australia with your business. What is the best way for people to contact you to organise a treatment or clinic? Our preferred way of contact is by phone, text, private message or email.

You recently joined the ACA Team as the Sponsor of the Champion Maiden Rider Competition Title – welcome to the Team! What attracted you to sponsoring the Maiden Rider Competition Title? I chose the Maiden Rider Title as it is someone different each year, which symbolises a young person coming up or a relatively new competitor to the sport. It’s our way putting support behind them and our sport.
What are you most looking forward to this coming year with your sponsorship of ACA? Being able to show our support towards the ACA and competitors Australia wide and promoting our business.
What campdrafts and equine events are you planning on attending this year? As many as possible – Nutrien Equine events, as well as campdrafts in the Northern Queensland, Western Queensland and Southern New South Wales zones, such as Greenvale, Burke & Wills, Clermont, Cloncurry, Mostly Hills, Richmond, Muttaburra, Gresford and Scone campdrafts.
What are the most rewarding parts of your business? Being able to help and witness both, horse and rider, achieve their full potential and dreams. Where to from here? Building our business Australia wide and international as well. The sky is the limit. Is there anything else that you would like to add? I would like to thank everyone who has helped and supported me to make my dreams a reality, there are too many to name.

aCampdrafting Family Sport
Campdrafting is undoubtedly the iconic Australian horse sport and has been for many years. This sport has been a loved and treasured tradition for generations.
Campdrafting is not just a competition, it’s a lasting connection to rural life and the many horses and riders that competed in the very sport before those today. As campdrafting continues to grow in popularity, one of its best aspects is not the competitive environment but how families are brought together, creating opportunities for teamwork and lifelong memories.
The core of campdrafting is the partnership and connection between horse and rider as they walk into the camp, but just as important as this is the strong ties to family heritage. Many of the competitors these days grew up watching their parents and grandparents take part in the very same sport. It is certainly not uncommon for entire families to compete together at events across the country. Many campdrafting families spend days travelling to events, making it a bonding experience in itself. The campdrafting circuit also provides an opportunity for children to interact with peers who share similar interests, forming lifelong friendships rooted in a shared love for the sport and the rural lifestyle. From the Minis to the Opens, campdrafting offers a unique opportunity for bonding and learning across all abilities and age groups. For many families, it is not about competing for the ribbons, it’s about cultivating a lifestyle that values early mornings, hard work and the love of the outdoors. Skillsets honed in the sport, such as discipline, cattle management and horsemanship, are values that often extend beyond the arena and into the broader aspects of rural life in Australia that are still used today.
One of the defining characteristics of campdrafting is its inclusivity. Whether you are just starting in the Encouragements or a seasoned competitor that has worked their way up from the Juniors, the sport accommodates for all. It is certainly not the competitive aspect that makes campdrafting a family sport – it is the time spent with family while participating in a family
sport loved by many. The friendship that comes from working together as a team in campdrafting is invaluable. The sport is a great teacher of communication and mutual trust, between both family members and between horse and rider. It requires patience, respect, and the ability to stay calm under pressure. Whether a father helps his daughter pick a beast or siblings cheer each other on from the camp, the shared experience of campdrafting strengthens family bonds without a doubt.
Campdrafting’s appeal lies in its ability to unite families. Its not merely a competitive sport but a lifestyle that cultivates teamwork, discipline, hardwork and the appreciation for the animals that play such a pivotal role in the sport. Whether it is the thrill of the chase and the adrenaline rush, watching a junior make their first round or the shared love for the sport itself, campdrafting offers something for everyone. So as long as there are cattle, horses and passionate families, campdrafting will continue to be a cherished sport that celebrates the beauty of rural Australian life for many years.

WESTMAR SPORTS CLUB Facilities Upgrade
After a wonderful few days drafting at the Westmar Sports Club (WSC) Campdraft in 2021, a general meeting was held. The committee and community decided that a refurbishment was required. While the arena had been a longstanding great asset to the Westmar and surrounding community, concerns were raised about the safety of cattle and competitors.
Multiple working bees were held, panels were stacked, the ground was levelled in late December. After an incredibly wet start to 2022, progress then stalled. While everyone was thankful for the rain, the club had hit a standstill. During this time, steel, panels, a secretary’s box, were all purchased. Sand was donated and kindly carted, and machines and time were again donated. It was then a date was set for the Campdraft – September 2022. An ambitious aim, but with the support of the community, it was possible.
Robert Bunn and his team (Bunny’s Bent Rail Steel & Fabrication) arrived and quickly set about erecting a camp, putting posts and gates in. They did a terrific job, and the Westmar Sports Club is incredibly thankful for the long days spent building our great facility.
With a deluge of rain continuing to fall intermittently and three postponed dates for the Campdraft later, the Committee decided to try again in April 2023.
Westmar Sports Club's Campdraft Grounds. Photography by Yarambah Photography.
After countless hours organising and prepping, the club and community were ecstatic to be able to hold a fantastic three days of drafting in April 2023. A full program consisting of a Restricted Open, Open, Ladies, Maiden A/B, Novice A/B and all children’s events.
Ambition seems to run strong in the Westmar Community, as a second date was set for September – exactly six months after the debut event with the new facilities. It was during this time the Club was successful in obtaining a grant from from Shell QGC Communities Fund 2023. We would like to extend our gratitude again to Shell QGC for allowing us the opportunity to continue to improve our small club.
After a smaller local two day draft in April 2023, another meeting was held with the decision to remove the portable panels from the backyards and erect permanent loading area and backyards.
Gravel was also carted in and roads erected to make the grounds more accessible in wet weather. Again, countless hours donated by locals and committee members ensuring the completion before our September 2024 Campdraft.
The Westmar Sports Club would like to extend our thanks to everyone who has donating their time, resources, machines, fuel, labour. Countless hours, dollars and resources have been contributed and we are immensely thankful. Without the support of our Club, none of this would be possible and every single contribution – small or large is appreciated. Like any committee, we are all volunteers and the generosity we have received in amazing.
We have successfully held four incredible campdrafts which also would not have been possible without the support of our Cattle Donors, allowing the opportunity to draft some exceptional lines of cattle.
We would like to thank all our Sponsors, each draft we have continued to raise the bar, being able to offer some amazing prizemoney and incredible prizes.
We are incredibly excited to see what 2025 will bring.

If you have progeny that are by the sires nominated in ACA’s 2024/25 Competition Season Champion Sire’s Progeny Competition, you can complete the two steps below to ensure that the sire receives points, based off your progeny’s points:
1. You will need to register your horse with ACA.
You can complete this via your Campdraft One profile, on your horse’s profile. Once you register your horse with ACA, it’s registered with ACA for life.
2. You will need to add the sire’s name to your horse’s Campdraft One account.
After adding it to the account, you will need to click the ‘Update Details’ button, so that this information saves on the horse’s account.

After completing these two steps, any points that your horse receives at ACA affiliated campdrafts moving forward, will be added to the sire’s points in ACA’s 2024/25 Competition Season Champion Sire’s Progeny Competition.
