S H OCK. CONCERN. RES I L I E NCE .

REBIRTH. GRATITUDE. How does one summarize what we have been feeling since March 2020? The Austin Symphony Orchestra did its part to keep the music playing, if at a distance from you. But now we are fortunate and exhilarated to welcome you back to concerts performed by a full-sized orchestra, playing some of the greatest music in all of orchestral literature. And we know we will be inspired to make music with you seated before us, completing that magic circuit that makes live concerts so joyous and life-renewing. Thank you for being the backbone of the Austin Symphony Orchestra and coming back to hear us perform. We’ve missed you!

to the Austin Symphony Orchestra’s 2021–22 season! As the

new CEO/Executive Director of your ASO, it’s a great honor and privilege to lead one of Austin’s premier performing arts institutions—a cultural, entertainment and educational pillar of Central Texas. I, and the rest of the ASO family, look forward to welcoming you back to live music. Music plays such a critical role in our lives, and that has become more evident this past year. The sheer joy and healing power of a live symphony orchestra, whether performing one of the great orchestral works such as Beethoven’s Ninth or the score of a major Hollywood blockbuster, is exhilarating. It’s also about connection. Live music brings us together with friends and family, and we all know how much we have missed that bond and camaraderie. Music Director Peter Bay has put together a season of some of the most joyful and breathtaking symphonic music for you. I invite you to come together to be a part of this 111th season. I am looking forward to meeting you in person and serving the community.
