In Memory of Michael Taggart The Marathon community lost a great fan and financial supporter with the passing of Michael Taggart on Marathon day 2019. He lived in California and spent part of each summer and fall at his home on Higgins Lake. Michael had a particular interest in the Time Trials. He was often seen sitting near the river’s edge at Penrods and the Old AuSable as the teams made their way past one by one. Michael assisted the Marathon committee in numerous ways over the past several years including being a Contributing Sponsor, Sponsor of the Leader Bonus Program, Sponsor of the Michigan Paddlers Bonus, Sponsor of the Basketball/Football toss at the Opening Program plus much more. Michael’s daughter Rebecca and son Michael have pledged to continue supporting the Marathon effort. They will sponsor the 2021 Michigan Paddlers Bonus originally established by Michael several years ago, plus provide other financial support of the Committee as well as individual teams.
