Please take note of the following information to help you make the most of your time on campus:

Directions to the venue – Art and Design Center Woodshop

From South Bend Airport: Exiting airport terminal, turn right on to Lincoln Way. Exit right off Lincoln Way to North 31-33 by-pass (to Michigan). Remain on bypass for about 25 miles until Exit 15. Turn right off exit onto old Hwy 31. Travel approximately 1 mile towards Berrien Springs. Turn left onto J. N. Andrews Boulevard, which leads to campus. At the circle, take the first exit onto E Campus Circle Drive. Turn left to stay on E Campus Circle Drive. The Art and Design Center building in on your left. The event space is located on the first floor. Follow the signs to enter through the side door to the right of the parking lot.

From I-94: Follow indications for Niles/South Bend to Exit 30. Turn Left off exit 30, traveling south on Napier Avenue. After about 2 miles you will see an entrance to the US 31 by-pass on your right. Take the US 31 by-pass. Continue on US 31 by-pass to Exit 15 for Berrien Springs and Andrews University. Turn left off the exit onto Old 31. Travel approximately 1 mile towards Berrien Springs. Turn left onto J. N. Andrews Boulevard, which leads to the campus. At the circle, take the first exit onto E Campus Circle Drive. Turn left to stay on E Campus Circle Drive. The Art and Design Center building in on your left. The event space is located on the first floor. Follow the signs to enter through the side door to the right of the parking lot.

From O'Hare Airport in Chicago, Traveling East: From O'Hare Airport take 294 Indiana Toll Road (South) for approximately 25 miles, until you see the sign for I-94 East (Indiana). You will pay about 4 tolls (40 cents each). Once on I-94, you will stay on it for approximately 65 miles until you get to exit 28. Exit at exit 28. Turn left off the exit traveling south on M-139 (turns into Old US 31) for about 12 miles. You will pass a blinking light at Red Bud Trail just before you cross over the by-pass. Continue on M-139 (old US 31) approximately 1 mile towards Berrien Springs. Turn left onto J. N. Andrews Boulevard, which leads to the campus. At the circle, take the first exit onto E Campus Circle Drive. Turn left to stay on E Campus Circle Drive. The Art and Design Center building in on your left. The event space is located on the first floor. Follow the signs to enter through the side door to the right of the parking lot.

Parking and Unloading

Parking for this event is available in the parking lot of the Art and Design Center. You will not need a parking pass, but you must ensure that you park only in this parking lot, which is located beside the building. There will be directional signs leading from the campus entrance to the parking lot. A campus map and updated photo map have been also attached.

Arrival and check-in

Check-in begins at 12:30 pm. A career fair representative will be available at the entrance of the venue to provide check-in material and to escort you to your booth. Please arrive on time to allow for check-in and set up before the event begins and students arrive.

Nametags

We will be providing two nametags on lanyards for each firm during check-in. We ask that you kindly return the lanyards before you leave.

Schedule

We will be using a schedule to manage the flow of this event and to facilitate the hybrid structure. Firm representatives will be able to meet with students at all levels in their programs. You will be able to meet with students via groups based on their year in the program.

Interviews

Interview space is available for employers wishing to conduct interviews tomorrow or Friday. Interview space is available on Thursday from 9 am – 5:30 pm and on Friday from 9 am – 2:00 pm. Schedule

We will be using a schedule to manage the flow of this event and to facilitate the hybrid structure. Firm representatives will have the opportunity to meet with students at all levels in their programs at specified times. Students will be able to join you in your prescribed Zoom breakout room during the scheduled time for their program year as listed below.

For our first- and second-year students, we will be using an information session format. This will allow you to establish a relationship with our students for future recruitment. This will be done in the main meeting room. We invite each firm to briefly share about your organization, culture, work, and high points. This session will be moderated by a career fair representative to facilitate flow.

We are pleased that you will be joining us for the 2023 School of Architecture and Interior Design Career Fair. This year we will host 21 firms with several actively recruiting for fulltime positions and internships. The event is hybrid with 15 employers attending in person and 6 attending virtually.

Preparing for the career fair

We are excited to announce that this year’s career fair is being managed on the new career platform from the Career Center Handshake, the number 1 job searching tool for college students! To provide you with the best experience at the event, we strongly encourage the following ahead of the fair tomorrow:

1. Claim your Handshake account by simply logging in HERE with your Andrews email and password. All employers have registered for the fair on Handshake. Claiming your account will allow you to see the employers and for employers to see you, your resume, and your portfolio. Follow the instructions in this short video for additional help!

2. Complete your profile and upload your resume and portfolio. Employers who are hiring want to see these documents. Follow the instructions in this short video!

3. Check out the full list of attending employers HERE! Click on the tab, “all employers.” You may then click on each employer to get full company details.

Please walk over to the old woodshop on the 1st floor of the Art and Design Center with the red brick smokestack. Upon entering, you will be able to speak with representatives from each firm attending in-person about their area of industry and ask questions. It may be helpful to take notes and contact information of the representatives you meet. If you have business cards, this would also be a good time to distribute them. Remember to dress professionally!

Download zoom ahead of time. It is also helpful to find a quiet location to minimize background noise. Professional attire is still required for meeting with virtual firms and your cameras should be turned on.

Special note for year 1 and 2: during your allotted virtual time, head to the classroom next to the green wall couch area for group zoom chat (Left of the kitchen). Log in promptly. It will be helpful to research attending firms and prepare some questions ahead of time. Firms will introduce themselves and talk about what area of the industry they focus on and their location.
