Music Concert Series at Central Library
T
he Evansville Public Library’s Dig Into Music concert series continues in August with two highly anticipated performances from Andy Norvell (August 7th) and Likewise (August 21st) in the lobby of Central Library downtown. Both shows are scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. The summer concert series gives the community an opportunity to hear some of the area’s best music for free. Previous performances in June and July included sets by Monte Skelton, Kennedy Rose, The Vintage Rendition and Zion. A Henderson native, Norvell spent several years studying the music business at Nashville’s Belmont University. Since 2004, he has been playing acoustic shows in and around Evansville, delighting crowds with his unique take on popular songs of the day as well as rock classics. Norvell’s music may be acoustic, but he uses technology to create loops and layer his sound. The effect is that of a oneman band. Likewise, a duo featuring Matt Cassidy and Ben Dahlquist, was recently the subject of News4U’s Soundboard article which puts the spotlight on exceptional local musical talent. The two have been playing shows all over Evansville and Newburgh at places like Tin Fish and Greek’s Pizzeria. With harmonies reminiscent of Simon and Garfunkel, Cassidy and Dahlquist have a bright future ahead. —Thomas Ellis Come support the Dig Into Music concert series. Admission is free.
