he regeneration project has been undertaken by Cumbria County Council following a successful bid by the Police Crime Commission Office to the Government’s Safer Streets Fund 2020 Initiative and the Home Office funded community safety partnership project. Thorn’s Isaro Pro LED luminaires have been specifically tailored to meet Cumbria County Council’s exact specification, which included the configuration and programming of the luminaires to ensure optimum optical performance and light levels. Isaro Pro is a sleek, robust and   high-performance LED street luminaire that provides a future-proof lighting solution. Isaro Pro is a totally sustainable luminaire offering a long life and low energy consumption, and has been specifically designed to prevent light pollution and minimum disturbance to the environment.

With a lifetime of 100,000 hours, efficacy of up to 139lm/W and control options including RF wireless, Isaro Pro guarantees years of reliable performance at an exceptionally low cost of ownership, making it an ideal choice for both new and retrofit projects. With a light output of up to 9500lm, Isaro Pro is powerful enough to successfully fulfil a wide range of street lighting requirements for minor roads, residential areas, and car parks. The unique R-PEC optic allows Isaro Pro to deliver unprecedented optical flexibility with a choice of 14 light distributions that offer highly efficient, comfortable illumination exactly where required. The Barrow project will help Cumbria County Council to address several key criteria, including improved lighting levels with efficient and effective illumination, increased energy efficiency and reduced carbon emissions, in a low-cost solution. Ian Harker, Lighting Manager with Cumbria County Council, comments, “This project demonstrates the Council’s ability to work with partner organisations and communities to improve public services through the pursuit of opportunities

to secure additional funding for the improvement of our highways and transport infrastructure.” Cumbria’s Police and Crime Commissioner, Peter McCall who has been working with the relevant councils has welcomed the scheme. “Every resident in Cumbria deserves to live on a safe, clean and welcoming street and that is exactly what the Safer Streets Fund aims to achieve,” he says. “Since the success of the bid in July 2020, we have accomplished so many of the goals we set to help improve the Salthouse Road area of Barrow and I know the residents will greatly benefit from the extra security. Partnering with the constabulary, Barrow Borough Council and Cumbria County Council on this project, we all hope to see a reduction in residential burglaries, robberies, and theft in the area. As PCC, I am committed to creating a safer Cumbria for all and it’s fantastic that we have been able to achieve this in such a short space of time in the Salthouse Road area.” Matthew Boucher, Managing Director of Thorn Lighting’s parent company, the Zumtobel Group UK and Ireland, comments, “We are proud to have the opportunity to work with Cumbria County Council on this regeneration project and to get involved with the Government’s Safer Streets Fund 2020 Initiative. It has long been our belief that lighting companies have a responsibility to help councils to improve street lighting to protect both road users and pedestrians alike, making our streets safer for all. Our ethos is to provide appropriate lighting that enhances safety yet meets today’s demanding energy reduction requirements, with luminaires that deliver exceptional performance and smart solutions that transform our streets.”  Thorn Lighting, thornlighting.co.uk
