THE LATEST TOOLS AND WORKWEAR TO HELP YOU GET THE JOB DONE

Carly Wills looks at some of the latest tools and workwear on the market.

Teledyne FLIR has launched the DM286 Infrared Guided Measurement (IGM) Multimeter, and two new clamp meters, the CM57-2 and the CM85-2. The reimagined multimeter and clamp meters replace the predecessor DM285, CM57 and CM85, respectively, providing technicians with upgraded tools to perform safe and accurate electrical inspections and to identify hazards before contact is made.

The DM286 is designed to enable electricians to pinpoint hot spots and other problem areas faster, safer and more efficiently. It features 160 x 120 thermal resolution from the embedded Lepton thermal microcamera, along with an embedded visible-light camera and bright LED work light to operate MSX in low light.

The multimeter can also store up to 30,000 radiometric thermal images and log files and includes longer battery life for inspectors to capture images and log files all day long.

The new and improved ‘Duoxim Arbor Max’ from Super Rod has been described as the perfect solution for enlarging existing holes professionally in seconds.

You can now fit a smaller hole saw on the same arbour, saving you the trouble of using multiple arbours for different size hole saws. This updated feature not only makes the job more efficient, but also saves you money by eliminating the need to purchase multiple arbours.

The Duoxim Arbor Max is perfect for creating clean and circular holes, which is essential when installing downlights.

New socket and non-trip earth loop testers

Martindale Electric has introduced two new advanced socket and non-trip earth loop testers, the EZ165 and EZ365, which it says are must-haves for any electrician or engineer needing to check mains sockets.

These compact but powerful testers detect 28 fault conditions, check the mains voltage level, and show how safe the earth wiring is by carrying out a non-trip earth loop test and indicating its value in six discrete ranges. This test is critical for ensuring the safety of an electrical system, as a low earth resistance is essential for safety disconnection devices to work properly and prevent electrocution when faults occur.

The EZ165 and EZ365 testers have a variety of features to make fault diagnosis fast and easy. The combination of red and green LEDs quickly identifies neutral, earth and live connections, and makes it easy to spot common faults. A lookup chart provides further fault diagnosis. The testers also indicate high and low voltage levels and their tough, sculpted design makes them easy to unplug, transport and use in a variety of environments.
