“After last year’s success at the Shuler Hensley Awards, we couldn’t imagine our group walking away this year with six awards,” said Rob Warren, Head of Arts and Sherry Weeks, Secondary School drama teacher. “It was a privilege to even be nominated this year, since the number of schools participating had increased from twelve to thirty-nine. The success this year reinforces that AIS truly has a remarkable theatre program, one that embraces the nature of an ensemble by involving the whole of the AIS community. We were overwhelmed by the turnout at the awards ceremony by the students, parents, faculty, administration, alumni, board of trustees and friends of Atlanta International School. The theatre program does not just focus on performance but gives opportunities to students in every aspect of theatre, which strengthens their ability to create, perform and develop as young artists. We are very proud of our students and wish to thank again everyone who was involved in making the production of Oliver! a success.”
