Cirque Du Soleil’s VOLTA

Sterling-Christine Pridgeon, an Atlanta native and Client Program Manager, Adecco VOLTA by Cirque du Soleil, tells us a little more about the show.

What is your role with VOLTA? I am the traveling Client Program Manager for Adecco that acts as the On-Site Manager for all local Adecco staff. This means that I am responsible for finding, hiring and managing local employees in each city visited by VOLTA. In each city, including Atlanta, VOLTA hires 200 local people for positions such as ushers, box office agents, customer service representatives, and my role is to supervise all these employees for the duration of our stay.

my favorite restaurants such as The Flying Biscuit and Fellini’s Pizza. For my night life, I enjoy MJQ, different lounges/bars on the Edgewood strip, Bonfire ATL, The Graveyard Tavern and The Glenwood. Through Jan. 5, VOLTA will be presented at Atlantic Station outside under the Big Top. www.cirquedusoleil.com/volta

When seeing a Cirque du Soleil show, one should expect the unexpected. VOLTA is a journey of discovery, where extreme adventure is reflected through the street sports culture. A full-sized BMX park will stage nonstop air tricks and jaw-dropping acrobatics on wheels with jump boxes and ramps. Watch double dutch jump roping, rooftop hopping and unimaginable feats, all to the beat of the live band playing a contemporary score.

GO BACK IN TIME 1,000 YEARS AND STILL MAKE IT HOME FOR DINNER.

What’s the most unexpected part of the show? VOLTA tells the story of Waz, a misfit who’s different than the other ones, and who goes into a journey of self-acceptance. The most unexpected part of the show to me is the amazing dance solo by Waz. It is so powerful because it is when he finally “finds his free” and expresses through dance that he has accepted himself and embraced the beauty in his difference and begins to shine as a unique individual.

Where do you like to go for fun in Atlanta? Being an Atlanta native, I tend to shy away from high volume tourist events. Some of my favorite places to go during the day are Little Five Points (L5P), East Atlanta Village (EAV), Piedmont Park, Stone Mountain or Atlanta Indie Market (monthly local and independent festival). I also enjoy hiking the trails in SweetWater State Park, as well as eating at
