Opening a beehive can be exciting and daunting. In this advanced session, we open and inspect a beehive emphasizing proper technique. Students will provide their own hat and veil, which is the minimal protective gear for entering the apiary for a hive inspection.

Japanese Maple Pruning Learn the science and art of aesthetic pruning.

Seasonal pruning, form enhancement, essence and early training are discussed.

Jams and Preserves Get ready for preserving early summer fruits. Learn through a small class demonstration and instruction. All the steps in processing jars in a hot water bath will be discussed. Recipes will be shared and you’ll walk away with a jar of freshly canned fruit preserve.
