ne disclaimer about working with Georgia Kitchens: everyone is going to have a good time. The family behind this business has spent their entire lives learning how to make it so—studying the ins and outs of appliances, learning how
to make each job go smoothly and doing both with the people they love. Their camaraderie and knowledge makes a dedication to customer service second nature, and as a result, they’ve set an industry bar for the remodel experience that makes founder (and dad) Joe LaBoon proud.

“It’s just in our blood,” says LaBoon Jr., who doesn’t have an official title. To no one’s chagrin, they’ve never had titles, and they all do each other’s jobs. “The work we put in early on, and seeing what we’ve done now that we’re running everything makes me proud to be a part of a family business.”

Today, Georgia Kitchens operates out of a custom-built 5,000-square-foot showroom in Buford with the brothers’ childhood best friend, Tyler Christopher. Good teamwork helps facilitate LaBoon Sr.’s mission to take care of the customer completely. The LaBoons (and Christopher) are with clients from the first call to the first few successful meals, developing relationships along the way that add to how much fun this job is for them.

In 1992, Georgia Kitchens began as a one-man show out of LaBoon’s garage, but soon his sons, Joe LaBoon Jr. and Landon LaBoon, were in the truck with Dad, visiting builder sites and learning about installs before they were out of elementary school. By the time they were 20, they already had almost 15 years of appliance experience, and eventually chose the family business for themselves as well.

When you realized the severity of Hayden’s eczema and food allergies, what was the process like to heal her? Conventional doctors only offered steroids and antihistamines but I really wanted to know why she was sick. I read every book on eczema and food allergies and eventually found one about ‘leaky gut.’ It changed our lives. She was 4 months old, and a year later, all of her eczema disappeared after being on a different diet. There were 19 foods she reacted to and now she is only allergic to almonds and uncooked dairy.

The city is changing so much and there is lots to do—free concerts, fireworks at Wills Park, and ice skating are all some of our favorites. We are all guinea pigs for the chemicals we are exposed to daily and 54% of our children have a chronic health condition. Something needs to change. I created a Facebook page to inform fellow parents and to answer questions about chemicals in products and safer options. Ultimately, I realized there was no company I felt comfortable recommending for cleaning, pest control or turf care. One day, I was walking around Chastain Park and just decided to do it. I had no background in any of these fields but I have an incredible passion about protecting our families and the environment.

Nearly 30 years ago, Atlanta native Scott Lobel left a secure family business sales position when he was recruited by his father-in-law, Sandy, to work at The Leather Factory, a manufacturer and retailer of leather furniture
in California. Seeing how the entire manufacturing process worked, including leather hides transforming into a finished product, sparked his interest immediately. When Sandy, the well-respected founder and owner of the company, was diagnosed with terminal cancer, Scott was thrust into the driver’s seat. “I was just a kid,” he says. “Suddenly, this beautiful, natural product was thrown into my hands and I had to learn everything about it.”
