((ARFID) ARFID)
As the Pantry, our main goal is to provide people with the necessary resources for happy, healthy eating. This includes raising awareness around personal wellness. On these pages we hope to spread awareness of a largely unknown and misunderstood eating disorder: ARFID.
Categorized as an eating disorder where one limits the volume and/or variety of foods they consume, this disorder is widely misunderstood as it has no correlation to body image or weight. Instead, possible motivations include a lack of motivation to eat, sensory sensitivity or a fear of adverse consequences (e.g. choking/vomiting)
Individuals with ARFID tend to feel safest around plain, “beige” foods. Some examples include white bread, pizza, chicken nugge ers.

Food Recovery at the ASUCD Pantry
Davis Farmer’s Market Recovery
On Saturdays we collect leftover produce from the vendors at the Central Park Farmer’s Market. We then transport these goods to the Green and Orchard Park Apartments and distribute our stock to the residents living there!
Dining Commons Recovery and Tray Portioning
We also collect untouched leftover food trays from each of the UC Davis Dining Commons. On Thursdays we portion these food trays into boxes, and prepare to distribute them to our patrons at The ASUCD Pantry!
We're a branch of the Pantry dedicated to accepting leftover food from various vendors across UCD campus. This food is brought to various pantries and shelters across Davis, including our very own ASUCD Pantry! We are always fighting to reduce food waste and feed our community, no matter the circumstance!
Silo Market Recoveries
We also recover any untouched leftover food from the Silo Market. We typically receive a variety of breads and grab-n-go items every Friday. We then transport these items to The ASUCD Pantry and the Freedges across campus!
