Golf Tournament raises $8,600 for scholarship Almost 50 golfers teed off at Eagle Hill Golf and Athletic Club in Little Rock on Aug. 19 to raise funds for the Randy Kemp Memorial Scholarship. Kemp was the AAC’s first communications director. He joined AAC in 2008 after a successful career in newspapers. He died in a motorcycle accident in August 2011. The Randy Kemp Memorial Scholarship aims to raise funds for scholarships for descendents of county officials or employees who intend to pursue a college degree in communications. The 2014 Randy Kemp Memorial Scholarship was awarded to Katherine Kemp, a graduate of Conway High School and the granddaughter of deceased Independence County Justice of the Peace James Kemp. Katherine also is the great-niece of the scholarship’s namesake. She is pursuing a degree in mass communications at Ouachita Baptist University in Arkadelphia. AAC appreciates all who support the fund and the golfers who participated.
