The word “kimkara” is a combination of two Sanskrit words “kim” & “kara” and can be interpreted to mean “Beauty from the land of the Golden Meadows”. It’s a combination of two skills, one on the canvas and one on the loom. It embodies love for art, for exquisite fabrics and for all things graceful.

Founder Shikha Grover is originally from Mumbai, India and now lives in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Designing has always been her passion; she is an impressionist and has been painting for over 35 years, French Painter- Claude Monet being her inspiration.

In 2018, Shikha launched the label, ‘kimkara’. The uniqueness of interpreting original paintings on silk became her niche and the label started to generate interest all over the world. Each piece was one of a kind, a combination of original art with the warp & weft of rich silks and exquisite workmanship. The first collection of sarees, jackets and kaftans was launched in Dubai and her exhibitions in Kuala Lumpur and India have been widely appreciated by art lovers. Paintings inspire her to weave her stories on fabric, to bring art to life on silk.

Kimkara is now set to launch a wedding collection this year, make sure to be tuned in to witness one of the most unique pieces which will be an amalgamation of three cultures – Malay, Chinese and Indian.
