WELCOME

Welcome to Big Swim Big Kick ! We are thrilled you are here with us to celebrate the power of sports and fitness. We have been fortunate to see the life-changing power of sports and fitness right here at Asphalt Green. Our very own Lia Neal started swimming on the Asphalt Green Unified Aquatics (AGUA) Swim Team on a scholarship when she was 8 years old. Today, she is a two-time Olympic medalist, competing at the London and Rio Games, and most recently, she led Stanford University to its first national championship since 1998 as captain of the swim team. Lia is just one example of why we do what we do. The power of sports and fitness extends beyond the game. Athletics are about shaping strong, independent, well-rounded people. Big Swim Big Kick brings the community together and celebrates over 33,000 New Yorkers we reach each year through our free programs. As we continue to grow, we will provide even more opportunities for kids and adults from underserved areas. Today is all about community impact. We hope you enjoy the fun activities we have planned. In addition to the swim and soccer action, we are honored to welcome two outstanding athletes: Maya DiRado, one of Lia’s teammates and breakout star of the Rio Olympics, and soccer freestyler Skye Cowie. A heartfelt thank you goes to the Big Swim Big Kick committee, board members, and donors for making this event possible. To everyone in attendance, we appreciate your support and hope you leave moved by the power of sports and fitness. Warmest Regards,

Maggy Siegel executive director

OUR MISSION

Asphalt Green is a nonprofit organization dedicated to assisting individuals of all ages and backgrounds achieve health through a lifetime of sports and fitness. Community service is at the core of our origin and at the heart of our mission. Last year, Big Swim Big Kick raised over $900,000 to support our mission. This year, we hope to top that number and help even more New Yorkers discover the life-changing power of sports and fitness. Proceeds support our free community programs that deliver sports leagues to underserved middle school students, active recess in public schools, swim lessons for elementary school students, senior fitness programs, and athletic and camp scholarships.

Thank you for making a difference!

Big Swim Big Kick is Asphalt Green’s biggest celebration of sports and fitness. We are set for a fun-filled day of swim races in our Olympic-sized pool, soccer activities on our athletic field, and a benefit luncheon supporting our free community programs. There is nothing better than seeing children’s faces light up when they jump in our pool or step on our athletic field. Thank you for being here to experience the excitement with us!
