Duterte and obama are scheduled to meet on the sidelines of the Association of southeast Asian Nations (AseAN) summit in Laos on sept. 6. In a statement, the Department of foreign Affairs through spokesman Charles Jose said the meeting would be an opportunity for Duterte to “communicate his advocacy to improve the peace and order situation in the country, especially towards eradicating the scourge of illicit drugs.”

mANILA Archbishop Luis Antonio Cardinal tagle has finally broken his silence on the recent spate of killings in the Philippines as he asked filipinos to condemn all forms of murder happening in the country. In an interview on sunday, August 28, by Church-run radio Veritas, tagle called for his countrymen to denounce not just the issue of extrajudicial killings, but also other kinds of killings including abortion, unfair labor practices and wasting food.
