reAffirming his commitment to end mindanao’s security problems, Philippine President rodrigo Duterte on tuesday, July 4, said martial law will not end until the last terrorist in marawi City is wiped out. “for as long as there is one terrorist there in marawi, it will not end,” Duterte stressed. Under Proclamation no. 216, Duterte placed the entire mindanao region under martial law and suspended the privilege of the writ of habeas corpus in the wake of islamic state(is)-linked maute group’s attack on may 23 in marawi City.
Justifying his declaration anew, Duterte maintained that he implemented the military rule because of the “critical” terrorism situation in the area. he also noted that he has been consistent in warning the public about using drastic measures to address the growing security issues in the region. “months before, i was telling you, i’m warning the nation: Do not force my hand into it because if i will declare martial law, tatapusin talaga natin ‘to (we will finish it),” Duterte said. Asked if he would extend martial law after its 60-day constitutional expiration, Duterte reiterated that it will depend on the feedback A convoy from the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) reinforces troops conducting operations

According to lorenzana, U.s. Ambassador to the Philippines sung Kim told him about the offer during their meeting last week. “i met with Ambassador Kim last week, and they said: ‘if you need some help, let us discuss…’ so, we’ll still talk about what kind of aid we’ll get,” lorenzana was quoted saying in an inquirer report. “so, we are now preparing the rehabilitation plan and we are now preparing the mechanism to go into the rehabilitation and recovery, as soon as the fighting stops in marawi,” he added. Asked in a briefing if the U.s. would extend its help in the form of monetary aid, lorenzana told reporters that specifics about the assistance has yet to be discussed. “We do not know yet but we have already gotten some information that they will help,” he replied. “We do not know if they are going to help in kind or in funds or whatever.” in a social media post, Kim reaffirmed the U.s. government’s support for the Philippines

in what was considered as one of the greatest upsets in recent world boxing history, manny Pacquiao lost his World Boxing organization (WBo) Welterweight title to Jeff horn in a stunning, unanimous decision on sunday, July 2. needless to say, many were shocked at the results. After all, stats from the CompuBox showed that Pacquiao landed about twice more punches than horn. At one point during the match, the referee also warned horn: “show me something in the next round or i’m gonna stop the fight.” But the judges still awarded the crown to the Australian challenger after giving the final scores of 117-111, 115-113, 115-113, all in favor of horn. While horn’s determination was undoubtedly acknowledged, many viewers couldn’t find them-
