AAPI survey: Filipinos comprise the highest support for Trump Clinton beats Trump among all AAPI groups by 41 points With about a month before election Day, a new survey shows that Democratic presidential nominee hillary Clinton holds a staggering 41-point lead over republican nominee Donald trump with Asian American and Pacific islander (AAPi) voters. the national Asian American survey (nAAs) released the first half of their 2016 fall survey of AAPi called the “Asian American Voices in the 2016 election” on Wednesday, october 5. the survey explored AAPi voter identification, party preferences, civic engagement and ethnic media consumption. A significant takeaway was that 55 percent of AAPi registered voters are more likely to vote for Clinton compared to the 14 percent who plan to vote for trump. moreover, the survey found that 67 percent of the participants harbored “very unfavorable” or “unfavorable” opinions of trump while Clinton received 36 percent from the

faction or “very good” rating in the first quarter. meanwhile, Communications secretary martin Andanar said Duterte’s high satisfaction rating was not surprising since he was overwhelmingly elected in the may 9 polls “on the strength of his platform of tunay na pagbabago (real change) anchored on a strong anti-drugs, anti-crime and anti-corruption agenda.” With a net rating of +64, it showed that 76 percent of filipinos were sat-

Continuing his tirades against the international community, President rodrigo Duterte on thursday, october 6, boldly dared the european union (eu), the united states, and human rights advocates to pull out their assistance from the Philippines. “And if you think it’s high time for you guys to withdraw your assistance, go ahead. We will not beg for it,” Duterte said in a speech delivered at Camp rafael rodriguez in Butuan City. the president expressed that even without their aid, the Philippines can stand on its own. “how do you look at us? mendicants? even if we face hardships, we will survive,” he continued. telling the filipinos not to worry, Duterte went on to say that he’ll be the first one to go hungry, promising to “never compromise our dignity as filipino.”
