the City of Los Angeles boasts a rich history of filipinos and their profound impact on Angeleno culture. since the immigration influx at the turn of the century, filipinos began migrating to the U.s., many of them settling in the LA area. Currently, LA is home to the largest population of filipinos outside of the Philippines with more than 374,000 filipinos residing in the LA County, according to the 2010 census. As a way to record the city’s cultural history, the City of LA office of historic resources (ohr), the Architectural resources Group (ArG) surveyLA have begun collecting more information from five of the city’s Asian American communities: Chinese-American, filipino-American, Japanese-American, Korean-American and thai-American. With this information, the city’s plan is to establish “historic context” documents that will provide identification of sites that are

mANILA, Philippines — the supreme Court, acting as the Presidential electoral tribunal (Pet), has ordered former sen. Bongbong marcos and Vice President Leni to raise a total of P81.46 million for the former’s election protest. the tribunal’s rules provide that the cash for the protest and coun-
ter-protest is P500 for each precinct involved if they would require the bringing of contested ballot boxes and election documents. marcos called for a manual recount on 36,365 clustered precincts while he requested for the annulment of the results of 2,756 clustered precincts. the total 38,221 clustered precincts are composed of 132,446 precincts. In a resolution disclosed on mon-
day, the tribunal required marcos to deposit a total of P66,223,000 for the 132,446 precincts. meanwhile, robredo was ordered to raise P15,639,000 for the 31,278 precincts included in her counter-protest. the World Bank on tuesday, April 11 says the Philippine economy will grow close to 7 percent in the next three years, remaining the top performer in east Asia. In its report, the bank retained its 6.9 percent economic growth forecast for the Philippines this year, and is likely to sustain the same growth rate in 2018 — which is down from its December projection of 7 percent. the bank also projected the domestic economy to slightly ease to 6.8 percent in 2019. however, World Bank lead economist for the Philippines Birgit hansl downplayed the downward adjustment in the 2018 growth forecast. “the revisions from the forecast in December is minor. statistically, it’s insignificant. It’s just that we have more information now than last year,” hansl said. “so as you can see, there is no major change. on the opposite, we see it as positive development.” taking note of the expected increase in the government’s infrastructure spending, hansl said the World Bank “continues to have a positive economic outlook for the Philippines that will be sustained throughout 2018.” “the implementation of planned infra-
