only be extradited after her plunder cases before the Sandiganbayan are resolved. “The charge of money laundering against Mrs. Napoles and her co-defendants shows that there is a reason to believe that they attempted to retain the ill-gotten gains from the Priority Development Assistance Fund scam,” he said.
Likewise, Philippine Justice Secretary Menardo Gueverra said that while they cannot hand over Napoles, the department “will extend all assistance to its U.S. counterpart in prosecuting the money laundering cases, and in ensuring the people’s money is returned in due time to our national treasury.” u PAGE A2

A YOUNG 10-year-old Fil-Am from Salinas, California may very well be on his way to becoming a future Olympic swimmer for the United States. Clark Kent Apuada, rightly nicknamed “Superman,” swam the 100-meter butterfly event in 1:09:38 at the 2018 Speedo Long Course Far Western Championships in Moraga, California on Sunday, July 29. His time was 1.1 seconds faster than Michael Phelps’ 1:10:48 time that was set 23 years ago in 1995 — a big accomplishment in a sport where milliseconds are closely watched. AFTER receiving negative criticisms for choosing a representative supposedly inaccurately representing Filipino culture and traditions, the web video series of international travel and lifestyle magazine Condé Nast Traveler released a statement regarding the issue. Last week, Filipino netizens called out the Filipino representative in a video project “Many People, Many Places” where around 70 countries were asked to translate phrases, words, and
answer some questions in their respective native languages. Netizens chided the representative for improperly portraying the Philippine culture and “misrepresenting” the country as she answered the questions on “how to count,” translating “happy birthday” and “cheers” in English and not in Filipino. She also said the country does not have its own tongue twister which prompted negative comments from Filipinos. Due to this, web video series “Many People, Many Places” said it takes full responsibility in u PAGE A2
