Angie Madrigal, is a well-known Costa Rican who began her career in dog grooming in 2016, motivated by her passion for dogs.

From the beginning, she has dedicated herself to grooming with a vision of constant growth and learning, reflecting her energy and enthusiasm for the profession.

“…I feel like I’m a very new person in the industry, eager to grow”

In Costa Rica, where dog grooming is experiencing a huge expansion, Angie stands out for her focus on the Asian style.

A trend that has transformed the aesthetics of canine clips around the world.

“…it’s revolutionary, it comes to change the norms of how we usually see dogs”

According to Angie, the Asian Style is not only an aesthetic change, but a flexible way to express creativity in grooming, responding to the needs of pet owners looking for easyto-maintain but attractive cuts.

Within this style, our colleague tells us that breeds like the Poodle and the Schnauzer are ideal, but especially the Schnauzer, which likes to transform from a robust dog to one with a sweeter and more subtle look.

“…I continue to learn a lot about the rules of any cut to continue breaking them as an artist with the Asian style”

For Angie, grooming is an art that goes beyond cuts, it’s a process that adapts to each dog and its needs, and between laughs she tells us that it’s like having superpowers.

“…It’s a very demanding job, physically, mentally and emotionally”

Her dedication and passion for offering a unique and quality service have undoubtedly made her one of the emerging figures in canine grooming in Costa Rica.

ROMEO GROOMING

AS M

The 11th edition of Romeo Grooming took place on November 2 and 3, 2024 in the historic city of Rome (Italy).

The Championship, which is officially EGA, has established itself as one of the most important championships in the country, and not only stood out for the skill of its participants, but also for its charitable purpose, as funds were raised to support the humanitarian organization Komera Rwanda, a non-profit organization that aims to improve the living conditions of the population of Rwanda and Kenya.

Several of the participants who took to the ring at the championship were active volunteers for Komera Rwanda, reflecting the deep bond between the event and the cause it supports. Romeo Grooming has been a strong supporter of the work of this NGO, contributing to the development of projects and promoting awareness of the situation in East Africa.

The event featured a team of judges of renowned prestige in the world of grooming, including Kitty Dekeersgieter, Umberto Lehmann, Enric Vilavedra, Denise Westbrook and

Helena Motyka is a name that resonates strongly in Poland, and not only for her technical ability, but for her dedication and love for a very particular style: the Asian style.

Helena began her professional career as a hotelier in Austria, before the pandemic changed her course. In 2020 she returned to Poland, where thanks to her cat she became interested in the world of grooming. And after taking her first basic course, and with the support of her husband, she began offering her services as a dog groomer.

“… my husband suggested that I buy equipment and start working as a groomer. That’s how it all started”

Helena is a strong supporter of the Asian style, and in just a few years she has managed to build a solid reputation, both in her country and internationally, thanks to her unique approach and her passion for making each dog look like a work of art.

“… for me has always been a freestyle of my vision, and the client’s expectations”

Helena does not hesitate to mention two breeds as the top for Asian Style grooming: the Poodle and the Shih Tzu. Both breeds are perfect for Asian style, as their coat type allows for a wide range of transformations.

“… these two breeds can take so many different forms and styles that it is hard to count”

Although more and more groomers in Poland are getting into this style, it is still little appreciated by clients. To encourage the growth of Asian style in her country, Helena conducts training courses, and has already trained more than 250 groomers, both from Poland and abroad.

Through her presence on social media, especially on Instagram and TikTok, Helena has managed to build a community of followers who adore her style and creativity

Yan Yan Wu, originally from Dalian (China), she began her career in the pharmaceutical industry, but her true passion led her to the world of dog grooming.

Today, with more than 19 years of experience in the sector, she is an international reference, and stands out not only as a groomer, but also as an educator and leader in trends.

When it comes to applying the Asian style to her arrangements, Wu is clear about which is her favorite breed: the Poodle.

“…because their fur can grow continuously and be trimmed into different shapes”

For Wu, Asian style represents a deep connection between owners and their pets, focusing on personalization of arrangements, creativity

with colors and accessories, and the well-being of the animal. This trend is distinguished by its attention to detail and by merging human fashion with that of dogs in innovative ways.

“…it’s a harmonious relationship between humans and pets, fully considering the owner’s pursuit of personalization”

Through her grooming academy, Wu has been training many of the world’s best groomers for over 19 years, always focusing on the importance of practice and continuous improvement.

In addition, Wu has plans to take her students to compete at a global level, seeking not only to give visibility to the Asian style, but also

to improve the global level of dog grooming.

And for anyone who wants to perfect their Asian style arrangements, our colleague offers us an essential tip:

“…sight and angle are important”

With a career dedicated to animal welfare and creativity, Yan Yan Wu continues to be a pioneer in dog grooming, taking the Asian style to new heights and transforming the way owners view grooming for their dogs.

Brisbane Groomathon

From November 8 to 10, 2024, Brisbane (Australia), became the epicenter of grooming with the celebration of the Brisbane Groomathon, an event that brought together the best dog grooming professionals worldwide, under the organization of two great Australian grooming figures, Sue Wright and James Bennet.

The Brisbane Groomathon offered a unique experience to participants and fans. Over three intensive days, the event not only celebrated best practices in the art of dog groo-

ming, but also provided opportunities for training, competitions and certification.

The event was distinguished by having a team of exceptional judges, including renowned figures such as Gabriel Feitosa and Lance Wright.

One of the most notable features of the event was its association with the International Grooming Company (IGC), which allowed participants to obtain an official certification in mastery of the art of grooming.

And within the various

categories of the Brisbane Groomathon, the Asian Style category was one of the most anticipated, where the final classification was as follows:

Asian Novice

1st Abby Taylor 2nd Jingwen 3rd Pippa

Paige Tulloch, a dog groomer from Edinburgh (Scotland), she has managed to stand out in the world of dog grooming with Asian Fusion.

With only three years in this profession, this young entrepreneur has conquered the world of artistic and creative arrangements, a field that continues to gain popularity, especially in the United Kingdom.

“…I have always owned dogs, growing up and working with animals really interested me”

Paige’s path to dog grooming was anything but direct. She initially trained in hairdressing, but soon realized that it was not her true passion.

Later, she worked in the financial sector, a job she found stressful and made her look for another change again.

That’s how she

a dog grooming course. Her decision to leave a stable job in the middle of a pandemic was risky, but over time she realized that she had made the best decision.

“…the best decision of my life so far”

Despite being relatively new to this world, Paige has already begun to stand out. She has already competed in her first championships, taking second place at the Scottish Championships, and sixth place at Groomers Got Talent held in Belfast.

And although our colleague also performs standard breed cuts on a daily basis, there is no doubt that her true passion is the Asian style.

“…my main motivation is to every day better myself and improve my skills”

Paige continues to perfect her technique and hopes to continue learning from great experts in this sector.

Proof of this has been her recent stay at the Star Wood academy (Thailand), where she has been improving her skills with master Sathit Suratphiphit.

You can follow and support Paige on Instagram at @tullochstails and see and be inspired by her beautiful arrangements.

Groomphoria

Held on November 16 and 17 at the Royal Court Hotel in Coventry (UK), and organized by Costin Stoica and Chery Howard.

The event was supported and officially recognised by the EGA, making it an official European championship, where all native participants officially scored points for GTE 2024 (Groom Team England).

Groomphoria stood out for the great professional work carried out by the organization to provide canine models for all participants who needed it, mainly for those who came from abroad, since

traveling with dogs can sometimes be complicated.

The event featured all the official categories, but the most spectacular was undoubtedly the Asian Style category.

Groomphoria had a very special section for this category, which was divided into 3 subcategories (beginners, open and champions), which has undoubtedly provided more confidence in the participants and made them feel on equal terms with their rivals.

There was also a more creative category, the Mo-

del Dog category, which was not held in a traditional ring, but rather as an art exhibition where the participants brought their work already done from home. In this special category, the unlimited skill and creativity of the participants in each work was valued.

The event was a celebration of the art of Grooming, where the podiums were distributed as follows:
