About Us The Asian Studies Center at Michigan State University, named a National Undergraduate Resource Center (Title VI NRC) since 2000 by the U.S. Department of Education, directs one of the largest, most diverse programs of education about Asia in the Midwest. Unlike other programs, the Center is distinguished by its approach to East, South, Central, North, West, and Southeast Asia in the design of its curriculum, focus on faculty research, and scope of outreach activities.

Advising for the Asian Studies Specialization is now located in the Center for Integrative Studies in the College of Social Science, in 302 Berkey Hall. Students who are interested in the Asian Studies Specialization should refer to Academic Programs to view the specific requirements for the specialization (see link below). Dr. Keith has also served on the Center's faculty advisory board, which has allowed him to help shape a range of Asia-related programs and initiatives across campus. Dr. Keith is currently researching the experiences of Vietnamese in France during the era of French colonization of Vietnam (roughly 1850 to 1950). His work attempts to understand how direct experiences in the center of colonial power shaped Vietnamese culture, society and politics in diverse and often unexpected ways, a phenomenon with powerful implications for the country after independence.
