Set the mood by lighting a scented candle while you’re running the bath, so that the fragrance has time to diffuse. TIP: Create a playlist of music to listen to and pop a glass of your favourite chilled drink by the bath.

Smooth skin and boost circulation by using a body brush to make upward strokes towards the heart before bathing. TIP: Try a body scrub instead – try NSPA Warming Sugar Scrub, £4.95 (225ml) or 2 for £5.

Steam opens up pores, so apply a face mask when you’re in the bath. TIP: A clay-based mask, such as Montagne Jeunesse Dead Sea Face Spa, £1.48, gives a deep clean.
