NO -CARVE PUMPKINS! Pick a pumpkin, then add paint and spooky decorations for the ultimate doorstep display
SPIN A WEB YOU WILL NEED ● Paintbrush ● White acrylic paint ● Gold paint ● Fake spiders ● Black wool ● Dressmakers’ pins ● Glue HOW TO DECORATE 1 Wipe down the pumpkin and dry with a tea towel. 2 Brush white paint all over the pumpkin, including the stalk. If more than one coat is needed, allow to dry between coats.
SEQUIN STRIPES YOU WILL NEED ● Paintbrush ● White acrylic paint ● PVA glue ● Gold glitter (or metallic gold paint) ● Black paint ● Black sequins HOW TO DECORATE 1 Wipe down the pumpkin then paint it white all over, as before. 2 Mix equal amounts of PVA glue and glitter, then paint onto the stalk with a clean brush. Dab on more gold glitter to cover, pressing into place in a thick layer. (Alternatively, paint the stalk metallic gold.) 3 Using the natural lines 82 | ASDA.COM/GROCERIES
on the pumpkin as a guide, paint every other segment with the black paint – allow to dry between coats if you need more than one for a deep black colour. Allow to dry completely. 4 Paint each black segment with PVA glue (it will dry clear) then sprinkle handfuls of the sequins over it. Don’t worry about being too precise as any overlap will add to the sparkly cascading effect. Allow the glue to dry, then add to your display.
3 Clean the brush; paint the stalk and the spiders gold. 4 Starting at the base of the pumpkin, pin the end of the wool in place. Wind it around the pumpkin vertically, so it sits in each of the grooves; secure with pins if needed. 5 Wrap more wool around the pumpkin for a web effect, pinning in place when you change direction. 6 Glue on the gold spiders for a glittery, creepy finish.
