THE MULTIDIMENSIONAL DEVELOPMENT OF EXECUTIVE FUNCTIONING - A neuropsychological approach The present book is such a notable exception, even more salutary in the landscape of Romanian psychology: a book explicitly devoted to mechanisms of development, functioning and change, and not only to a multicomponential description of a multilayered construct, as shown by the very terminological option for executive functioning (EF). The author goes beyond a facile description of the ontogenetic landscape of executive functions, although the age interval covered by her studies is quite generous (from 3 to 14 years of age), searching for more comprehensive responses in terms of functions of behaviors and mechanisms of change, and thus fully assuming the shift of focus from What to Why. The methodological option reflects such a dynamic, multidimensional and plurifactorial theoretical framework: the studies in this book follow longitudinal, cross-sectional as well as cross-sequential (accelerated longitudinal) designs;
